    Gas x

Hello everyone .. Just wondering if its ok to use the gas x pill immediately after VSG while in the hospital I saw a YouTube video that stated the pill may not be allowable and that only the strips could be used ... Can't find the strips yet though so will try target I purchased the pills from costco but I can return them since box is unopened
  2. All checked in, still waiting to get ready for my procedure -- long wait though over 2 hours now and it's 2 in the afternoon with nothing to eat or drink and suffering through menstrual cramps
  3. Prayers up for all of us!!! Can't believe our day is here!!! I'm hoping for the best!!

Thanks everyone! I found the mint flavored strips at CVS today!! Ready as I'll ever be for my VSG tomorrow ... Scared and nervous of course but also very much excited about my healthier future (:
  5. Mine is dec 12 too -- appreciate all prayers!! Sooooo nervous .. Slight headache from this clear liquid diet but surprisingly I have good energy. Tomorrow will be tough due to complete fast from liquids and food until my afternoon surgery

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Soooo nervous!! My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow dec 12!!!!! I'm on my ONE day liquid diet today and so far so good -- I went out for a nice dinner last night with my BFF who will be in the hospital to support me tomorrow (she's a registered nurse yay!!!) My period is due today and nervous about the cramping and heaving bleeding for the next few days of recovery ... I'll just stay calm and hope I don't need anti anxiety meds I wish all dec 11&12-ers well!! Peace and blessings to everyone in recovery and with upcoming VSGs!!!! Gotta clean and run some errands before my "big" day - lol I'm 31 -- currently around 237 pounds, 5'7" (after losing a good 22 pounds on my own since October 2013) Hoping to maintain a sensible weight range for my frame of 160-170 after VSG although healthy/normal BMI range for me suggests 138-160 (lol)

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

My nerves are waaay up!!!!! Did the sleep study last night and the sleep doc found nothing wrong -- no sleep apnea. Just like I thought Still waiting for my primary doc who is conveniently out of town to clear me -- most likely the other doc in her office will clear me ASAP One day liquid fast starts tomorrow (oy!!)and VSG scheduled for Thursday dec 12 Yikes!!!!! Aaaahhhh!!! I know a new and better quality of life awaits me Feeling like I may need an anti anxiety pill but I'm trying to stay strong --- avoiding negativity from family and online commentary on the subject of WLS and trying my best to stay positive

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Good luck dec 10s! I'm not a part of that group any longer due to a sleep study I'm undergoing as I type this note. Hoping for dec 12 surg date once my primary clears me.
  11. I'm second guessing my decision and getting cold feet (literally & figuratively) as well especially now that my surg data has been delayed to dec 12 tentatively due to a last minute sleep study requirement..... I've been a yoyo dieter for over 15 years (I'm only 31) and just sick and tired of being sick and tired .... I've lost lots of weight on my own only to quickly balloon back to the morbid obesity and obese categories I started researching WLS in July and weighed around 248 at the time .... Gained some due to stress eating and hit 259.... Then got serious about my diet and fitness and managed to lose 23 pounds in just under 2 months (I'm at 236 today). I feel amazing!!!!!! I joined weight watchers a few weeks ago and love the support and guidance and really am on a good healthy track NOW but I have a track record of being really disciplined and then BAM I fall off and regain more than I lost despite all the hard work I'm nervous nervous nervous as times moves closer but also excited about what my new life will bring about for longevity and better quality of life Should I or shouldn't I!??? That's what I struggle with in my head and heart ..OY!!

    Sleep Study Requirement?

----- @proudgrammy Thanks for your response, it is very helpful but just as you say the requirement came way too last minute from my primary care cause my surgeon made no mention of the need for it I was approved for surgery by my insurance without a sleep study test because my BMI was slightly over 40 (morbid obesity) at the time my forms were submitted (early October) now I'm happy to report that my BMI is around 37.4. Hoping this process all goes by fast so I can have my surgery ASAP -- the sleep doc I went too today is pretty funny sort of like a circus clown but I totally respect him and value his expertise

    Endoscopy

I guess I'm one of the few that had the nasal endoscopy wide awake -- the nurse only sprayed my throat with a god awful numbing spray like 10 times lol It was uncomfortable but quick and my nurse was soooo comforting-- he let me squeeze his fingers which really helped My surgeon was very pleasant as well -- I felt bad that I pushed his hand away during the process cause I felt like I was choking but I wasn't really Rested a while after that and did not go to work that day, whole thing probably took 45 seconds after the spray

    Sleep Study Requirement?

My current BMI is 37.5 and the highest it's been is 45.9 back in 2009... Been yoyo ing for many years

    Sleep Study Requirement?

Wow- this is all interesting. I sleep on my side and back cause stomach sleeping actually causes lower back pain for me. I don't use a pillow for the same reason. I will see the sleep specialist this morning for consultation and see what he says. Hope I won't need a cpap cause the delivery time could delay my surg date even further (to early january)

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

What a day!!! Looks like my original surg date of dec 10 will be delayed unfortunately -- during my clearance appointment today my primary informed me to have a sleep study done... Uuhhhh I was so banking on dec 10 now I have no clue. I'm still keeping my hopes high that all this is taken care Of quickly with pulmonary specialist, my primary and my surgeon's office. Wish I would have known earlier tho. I work at a university so a December disability is ideal due to the winter break. All my other tests are perfectly OK but my primary has seen some unfortunate ICU cases in the past which prompts her to make me do the study. I guess i would rather be safe than sorry.

    Zumba?

Zumba is only great when you have a skilled instructor with an amazing playlist - same goes with any other group fitness class such as spinning and kickboxing. I love them all with the right instructor and music (: of course a great energized groups makes a huge difference too!!

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Surg date set for Tuesday dec 10 2013 My doc believes I can reach the 150s but I think that's a "fat chance" - no pun intended lol I'm currently 238-239 pounds at 5'7". My lowest adult weight was 180 and many people thought I was around 160 because I was so toned (lots of kickboxing and portion controlled eating helped me out with that physique 11 years ago) I recently lost 20 pounds on my own since October 2013 and so happy about that. I'll miss my spin classes while I recover but can't wait to get back into my fitness routine. I think a realistic healthy weight range for my large frame would be around 170-178 so that's my personal goal. So about a 65-70 pound loss. A healthy or normal BMI indicates I should fall between 138-160 which I believe is too unrealistic. Don't even think I weighed that in highschool, lol
  20. So happy to hear the good news!! Wishing you all the best in the future!!

Ahhhh help!!! I'm getting more nervous than excited especially with some potential family members and co worker reactions once I start losing and begin to open up about my VSG. FIVE MORE DAYS!!! I feel confident about my decision but still thinking about all types of things. Please keep me in prayer ladies and gents and I am surely keeping everyone else in prayer as well. Peace!! Sandi (:

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

My nerves are really kickin in ... SIX more days until my surgery (dec 10) but still no exact time yet... Aaaah I am only required to have a one day liquid diet with an antibiotic the day prior. I can't imagine doing that for several weeks like some of you pre-op folks. Please pray for me to ease my nerves and relax! I've been working out and watching what I eat for the past 2 months after a long hiatus of doing nothin or doing it half ass. Love you all and good luck to ALL December sleevers!!!
