    Zija......need help

A friend lost about 80 pounds on it and I decided to try it...Zija was the last thing I tried before getting the sleeve. I did it for 4 months and lost about 6 pounds...nothing considering I was 440. Since being sleeved I have lost 106 pounds in 5 months and my only regret is not doing it sooner. Was it easy? No. Painful? Yes but only for a week and it was manageable. I'm sure Zija is a fine product but it's not the ever- illusive magic pill we've all dreamed of.

    When will the GAS STOP?

Thanks all! I think I have intestinal gas too...it feels like every time I sip water it displaces gas in my stomach and causes painful burping. I'll try gas ex
  3. I was sleeved Monday morning. As instructed I walked and walked while i was in the hospital to the point that the nurses asked me if I was trying to get an award because I walked more than any other patient ever had. I was sent home Wednesday afternoon with instructions to keep walking (I finally started passing gas Wednesday morning). It's now Friday afternoon and I'm still SICK with GAS. I am over 400 pounds and know that they probably had to use a bunch of it to blow me up but my gosh man when will it end? I can't drink much or eat because every sip of water displaces gas and is painful! Any help is appreciated!

Bmi 35 - Any Business Getting Surgery?

Let me qualify my statement with the fact that I'm not sleeved...yet. I will be soon and I regret that I wasn't years ago because I have spent more years of my life not doing the things that I want to do because of my slowly-but-continuously increasing weight. That being said, on one hand - sitting here today at 435 I'd LOVE to weigh 260 - at this point in my life I would be happy if I got to that weight and never got below it so I would say getting sleeved at such a "low weight" is a little drastic. But on the other hand I can remember being continuously pissed off in High School because I could never seem to get below 268 no matter what I did. I think ultimately the answer lies in you with some input from your doctor...if you don't have any health issues aside from being obese and can commit to changing some eating habits and making time to work out FOR LIFE without it then I'd say go for it...on the other hand if you need a little help and understand that the sleeve doesn't do it for you then I'd say go for it ASAP! The one thing I'd tell anyone that struggles with weight is to lose it as soon as it becomes a problem by any non destructive means necessary! I regret so much of my life because of what i have lost by being heavy over weight. You only live once! If you need some help get it - don't be here 6 years from now wishing you would have. Best of luck to you whatever you decide...

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi All, Well it's real now...I'm self pay with Dr. Garcia in Tijuana and I put my deposit down 2 nights ago for a surgery date of December 5th. (My company's insurance policy has a specific exclusion) Technically my pre surgery diet should start in a week or so but I started it this past Monday just to be sure I shrink my liver as much as possible. I'm over 400 pounds and I have a long way to go so It will be nice to be part of this group and share our experiences through all of this. Good luck to everyone!
  7. Thank you all! I'm going for it!
  8. I have been reading these forums for a month but this is my first post. I'm looking for some guidance/opinions from people that have been through similar situations because I am torn about all this. Despite that fact that I am over 435 pounds my insurance company won't pay for anything related to obesity treatment - they actually have a specific obesity exclusion (United). I have tried literally everything except surgery and I don't have over $20k sitting around so I am considering going to Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana (which from all indications is a great surgeon) and getting sleeved in December. My internal debate is if this surgery is part of a lifestyle change which requires me to adhere to a strict diet and be more consistent at exercise what does the surgery actually do for me? Does it simply force me to adhere to this diet or be sick or worse? If I had more will power could I just follow the diet and exercise program and lose the same amount of weight? If you have been sleeved: Do you feel like sleeve was the MAKE in a make or break moment for you? Is it worth it? Could you have lost your weight without it? Would you do it again? Thank you! CB
