  1. Indio Girl, Thanks for your feed back. I'm impressed, your work too! I have to admit, I thought you have all this time, because you don't work like me. Wow, no more excuses. Thanks for responding. Danielle
  2. Indio Girl Yeah, your definately doing more work than me. I am impressed, when do you find the time to walk 13 miles a week? I could be doing better. You get what you put into it, it isn't magic. Before the surgery, I had this major anxiety attack, because I realized it wasn't magic. I knew I would have to create the change I wanted. That takes being responsible and sometimes I don't want to be. I was thinking of using your doctor for fills. I live in Hemet and going to L.A gets to be a pain. Danielle
  3. I was banded July 19th at Cedars Sinai. Since surgery I have only lost 18pounds and exercise 4 times a week. I had my first fill last Wednesday and they added 1cc. I feel alittle restriction, but not as much as I thought. The doctor said, if he added more I would be obstructed. I know alot of my hunger is in my head and I have to admit I am still grazing, but working hard to break the habit.
  4. You should be proud of your weight loss. Look what a difference it has made in your life. I have to admit, I get alittle discouraged when I go on the site and see other's that are taking it off faster. I have to remind myself that it's about changing your life and dealing with the addiction. I find going to OA meetings helpful.
  5. I was banded in July and my husband thought I would lose more weight. It's a slow process. In a way, I am sorry I told people, because I think they were expecting a more dramatic weight loss. I thought it would be faster too.

WHAT FOODS GETS STUCK or give you problems?

For me it is scrambled eggs. It's strange, I can eat almonds and raw veggies, but eggs make me sick.
  7. I'm feeling alittle guilty. I am trying to break the habit of drinking while eating, but I cheat. I worry that it will make the band slip. Is that possible?

    I am still hungry!

I have problems feeling full too. I get my first fill on September 12. I spoke with the dietician and she said to add more protein. I guess protein is supposed to help you with hunger. Besides not feeling physically full, I think we are always going to have to deal with head hunger. I think I am still eating too fast. I will be fine one minute and then have that pain in my chest from fullness. I guess I need to slow down.

    4 days post op

Head huner is the worst. I know have to find new things to do with my time. I didn't realize how much time was surrounded by eating. It's the main way my husband and I socialize, so I have to get creative.

    Banded 17 days & anxiety

I have anxiety too, not that something will go wrong but that it won't work for me and I won't lose any weight. After the surgery I was worrying about everything. I couldn't focus or read or do anything. It has been alittle better since I have gone back to work. Be patient with the CPAP it takes awhile to get used to. I am so used to mine now, I can't sleep without it.

    Fill at 2 weeks??????

I had my surgery on July 19th and they are making me wait until September 12th for a fill. I'm alittle nervous because I am hungry already and afraid I will gain weight once I go off liquids. In fact, I gainned 3 pounds back while on liquids. I'm not sure why, because I am walking every night. I thought it would come off faster.

    How to sip?

I know, it's hard to know how much water to drink. I was told, no more than 6-8oz. per hour.

    need a surgeon in CA

Dr. Gregg Nishi did my lap band on July 19th. He is an excellent doctor and really takes the time to explain things. His office staff were on top of things and got back to me right away. The hospital staff at Cedars Sinai were wonderful-very attentive.
  14. What's the title of the book? It sounds like something I would like to purchase.

The 27th will be here soon enough. I can't wait to go shopping too. I have purchased some sneakers, because I have been doing a lot of walking.

Port swelling/pain 6 days post op

If your thinking of doing it, DON'T. The band could slip. It's not worth it.
  17. I was banded on July 19, I don't have a rash but the port site is alittle red and tender.
  18. Hang in there, youv'e been through alot. Don't push anything and try to take one day at a time. I think I pushed too much last week, when I was on the adrenalin high after my surgery. Now I find myself fatigued. Have you been experiencing any emotional ups and downs? I am anxious about returning to work. I'll still be on liquids and I will need to make sure I get all my fluids and proteins in. I haven't cheated either. I've lost 9lbs. so far, but the scale has stopped moving. I find myself getting on the scale a million times a day. My surgeon warned me against doing this, but I can't help myself. I know it's not about the scale, it's about being healthy. I just feel the scale validates my efforts and I need constant validation right now.
  19. It didn't happen to me, but another women that was in the hospital with me gainned 5 pounds. I had the surgery on 7/19, I don't feel bloated but I am tender by the port site.

    I get banded 8/6/07--Nervous

I got banded 7/19/07 and it was easier than I thought. I didn't even need any pain medication. The staff at the hospital were fantastic. My only problem now is the increase in anxiety, because I don't have my food. I'm on liquids. I have no regrets, but the week before the operation I had doubts. I think it is normal.
  21. Try popsiscles or make slushies, they seem to go down easier. Play around with the temperature of things, it might make it easier.
