  1. I didn't really notice that I had a huge weight problem until my daughter, which was 4 at the time, mentioned that she wants to look like her daddy when she grows up. I was taken aback by this because I thought girls wanted to be and look like mommy instead of daddy, so I asked her why, and to my SHOCK she said, "Because Daddy is this way and you are this way." She showed me what this was meant at her age and dad's this way was long (verticle) and mom's was wide (horizontal) which she bounced with her hands like it was explanding. This actually broke my heart to pieces and made me tear up. I had to gently take her from off my lap and sit her in the chair so that I could look away to wipe tears away.

Her explaination made me open my eyes to my weight being a problem in general. Again, sometimes we live our lives in a state of unconscious awareness. It also opened my eyes to the legacy that I was creating for my children that it is alright to live an unhealthy life, so I wanted to break that generational curse starting with me and my family. I went on the Atkins plan and lost 87 lbs with exercise and managed to keep it off for about 3-4 years, but gained it back when I lost my Mother. Then I went on another plan and began the yo-yoing so here I am today wanting/needing to make a lifetime commitment for my family.

  2. I have had hair fallout in the past and experiencing it during peri-menopause. At first, I cried, then I tried a weave and cried because of weaving it, then I tooke the weave out and tried covering up the back with my own long hair but felt self-conscious. So I then decided to go natural, no chemicals and a lot of natural oils, but my hair still didn't like it and continued to break off in the back. So I cried for the last time and found a short hair style and got it CHOPPED OFF! Because my menopause causes the back of my head to sweat the style didn't last and it curled up naturally.

Today, I have a short cut with a keratin. I sleep on a satin pillowcase and I use Argan Oil and Coconut Oil. I am happy with my style and I want to go even shorter. I think it looks sassy~sharp. I don't know when I will ever go back to long hair because I love not needing to do much to it. I also have some clip-on's that when I want to rock a longer look, I can and clip it out when I'm done.

Consider it a new YOU ^_^

  3. I went to my first visit August 22, was given a goal to lose 5 lbs, have gained 2 instead. Now ok need to lose 7lbs and afraid that I will keep gaining before they ok me for surgery. I was hoping to be in surgery by the end of Nov but now thinking it won't happen intil next year too.

I feel like I have to be perfect with everything before I'm given the green light to advance. Take your Vitamins, chew slower, no caffeine, drink 6-8 glasses of Water, eat three meals a day, blah, bla, blah, I mean WOW! Are you all going through the same thing?

  4. Hi,

I am new to this forum and have been reading several forums but felt compelled to write about my pre-op journey. My info session was August 14 and I have another dietitian visit tomorrow. She wants me to lose 5 lbs before surgery and I gained 2 so now I need to lose 7lbs. I feel that the longer I wait the more weight I will gain and then have to lose before I have my surgery scheduled. In addition to this, I have been having very graphic dreams of people from my past and me with my deceased Mom in church. I think I am having subliminal panic attacks pre-surgery. Can someone help me to reel it in? My dietitian said that it is common for people to gain weight before the surgery because we are trying to eat what we won't be able to eat again, however; I think it''s me trying to sabbatoge myself. help...?

  5. Hi,

I don't know if this is the right thread and this is my first post, but I am so impatient! I went to the info session on Aug 14 and have done the psych exam and visited the dietitian twice. I have been told that I need to lose 5 pounds prior to the surgery but have gained 2 so now I need to lose 7 pounds. I am so ready to get this thing on the road but don't know when my surgery will be scheduled. My next dietitian appt is this Monday and I'm hoping to hear good news, however; I know she's going to talk to me about my weight gain. Here's what I need to know...

    1. How long from the info session to surgery does it take?

    2. Does the weight loss affect when the doctor schedules the surgery?

    3. Am I being unrealistic and need to calm down?
