  5. I have just learned not to be a scale fanatic. It hurts too much to watch that scale go up and down so I will only get on it once a week and sometimes every other week. There are the occasions that I get on it after a good bowel movement (TMI) but that is a rare occasion. I measure how clothes fit and being able to fit into clothes that I've had in my closet for a while. I'm actually getting to a place, where I may need to go shopping. Wasn't expecting that until the fall/winter months, so WOW!
  6. I am a March sleever and kinda feel the same way. I have told myself that I will have a work/gym/family/life balance, so I only go to the gym 2-3 days a week and YES, I have begun to drink Iced soy latte with sugar free carmel. It is my life saver when I want something punchy I'm also working on a grant that has prevented me from concentrating on losing weight, so I'm in coast mode. I don't know...I don't worry about it too much. Clothing sizes have been dropping rapidly and I use that as a good measurement to success.
  7. Truly can't wait for July 7 to get here! I can say that it has overridden my weight-loss/fitness goals and stress is a weight gainer in the wrong places. I can see it! I never believed it until now, but it's true. Hurry 7/7~

  8. So proud of myself for not stepping on the scale in about 2 weeks now. Loving that I am weaning myself from this sometimes painful reliance of the numbers. My dress sizes gives a much happier experience!

I still get on the scale once a week, and I am good with that. It gives me that reassurance every monday when I see the numbers going down to make it through another week. It makes me feel good. We all have to do what works for us, but if I waited every 2 weeks, I think I would loose faith?

      RJ'S/beginning

Yes..You should be proud. Means you are in control of it all. Including your health and well being.....

  9. I actually didn't consider it until a couple of months before attending the information session. Prior to, I had heard that many people actually hated people that got the surgery because they thought it was a cheat and they thought that it was for extremely obese people. Before I dove in, I had tried at least 2-3 diets and they worked only to have regained it back. I knew that I didn't have the willpower to prevent me from overeating. That was half the battle. Now the only other conscious battle (the other half) is in keeping the carbs in perspective. I encourage people to do them and not worry about the naysayers. They don't live in our skins!

This question has been asked so many times and in so many ways. You could probably do a search on this site to find your answer. Good Luck!

    How long is too long?

Um, I think that is crazy. Are you sure? I would clarify again this length of time. Good Luck!
  12. Got sick last night off of Rotisseri Chicken from the local grocers. I thought it would be safe but it didn't sit well with me. I have learned the technique of 'finger down throat - tickle-tickle- there she blows' to save the day! TMI...

    1. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Girl I use that trick a lot lately!!! Although it's gotten to the point where I can just move my throat around a little to just get it out now??? I am a pro!!! lol such a bad thing to admit, but I know one thing I can not eat and won't eat ever again, Ice Cream, and that trick does not work for that!!!

So scared to eat ice cream. I am still eating good and right for the most part. I know that if I find that if I can eat ice cream...it won't stop. Love it!!! So I have been denying myself that this summer. The finger trick works wonders ;)

    3. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Yes I know what you mean about denying yourself, but now I know that ice cream doesn't agree with me AT ALL, I won't ever eat it again, I was just craving something very cold and creamy, and I loved ice cream before the surgery, and found out that I can't eat it now, well it's kind of a blessing in disguise? The finger trick doesn't work with ice cream though dear?

    What is your dream job?

I can't believe they said that to you!!! That sounds like a discrimination case. Wow!

    What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be recognized for my raw gift and talents and be called in as the person needed to make business truly work. My kids call me "priceline the negotiator" ha! I love what I am doing right now, even with the highs and lows that come with it. Some of the obstacles are challenging and you win some and you lose some...I happen to like that! I am a program manager. I help companies/agencies develop training goals or business goals and align the right resources to meet their plans and look for a win-win for all involved. I am a champion for making everyone happy and pensive about getting stellar results through the work provided and the processes. I AM still looking for that one role that makes me feel like 'I have arrived' but I'm sure it's right around the corner.

    Gaining weight?

I agree with Bob, it's so debilitating if you 'touch it with your mind' and it could be compacted wasted that needs to be released, muscle growth, lack of enough Water, or simply in need of a shower (Ha!). Hang in there an the scale will move, BUT, you have got to get to a healthier reliance of the scale. Your clothes tell a much greater story. Good luck! As I said above, just be patient. It happens. Especially at the beginning. Your body is still healing and getting use to its new routine. Also, dont weight yourself every day. Especially if it upsets you when you see or dont see a change. I went from 201lbs to 205 and then back down to 199 in a week. Between waste, fluids and muscle growth there will always be fluctuations up and down.

    Gaining weight?

I think some good advise from everyone so far. I would like to add that it may take time to stop weighing yourself. I had to get that point and told myself that it's not worth the heartache. Check out how your clothes are fitting you when the scale moves up or stays the same, it will make you fell better.
  18. That HIIT training is so tough. I feel it everywhere. It's only a 25 min., cardio session, but returning two days later for another round is hard.

    Gallbladder

I had my gallbladder removed and started slowly having bowel issues. I was told it was because I was/am lactose intolerant. I don't carry the enzyme to prevent attacks with dairy products. Once I got sleeved, I don't have those problems because I have cut out some of those gas producing products. I now mix lactose soy in my Protein drink, eat babybel cheese, and other things so as not to have an episode. Hopefully, things will change for you too!
