  1. On full liquids and I tried to punch up my boring broths with garlic, ginger, and pepper. Well, that was what was giving me heartburn in the morning when I woke up, because yesterday I just drank the broth plain by 6:30 pm and guess what...no heartburn. Woo sahhhh~~~

    Hubby is no help

When I lost a lot of weight on the Atkins Plan, my husband pulled out a pair of jeans that I used to wear all the time. He opened them up and asked whose they were. When I told him they were mine, he was simply astonished without saying anything. If it wasn't me lightening up the air by laughing at them/him/myself, he wouldn't have felt comfortable doing anything. Our loving husbands love us unconditionally and as he has said many times, 'from the tent to the g-string, I will love you the same.' Except now, I don't ever want him lovin' a tent ever again
  3. Yesterday, I warmed up the store bought chicken broth and added garlic powder, pepper and ginger in it to see if I can have my broth like that without heartburn...nope, still had the burn this morning. It's either the chicken broth or the spices. I'm too scared to find out and just might let the broth go altogether for now!!!

make your own stock. pot of water, couple pieces of chicken, onion, celery, carrots salt and pepper, garlic. simmer for a long time on top of the stove or in your crock pot. strain the vegetables and chicken out. save and freeze because later you will be able to use these things when you go onto a more solid food. just blenderize.

I have made my own but I think it had to do with seasoning it. It may need to be plain like what Angie advised. So I drunk it plan this evening at 6:30 to see. If this doesn't help then I'll try no broth and see. Process of elimination.

  4. Woke up with heartburn this morning. I rarely have heartburn, but I think it's because I used my homemade chicken broth in my cream of wheat for my full liquid diet. Although DELISH', it may have had more fat than I needed. Not like the store bought brand. Taking it easy today :(

  5. Good question. I want to buy one to check it out because right now I'm on full liquids and found myself talking to my son while eating a pudding and smashed it down. I'm thinking something needs to help me control the speed in which I eat.

I got a cheap pack of 10 of them at Walmart. My surgery is in a week, so I've been practicing with them and have found it really does help me slow down. Let me know how it works for you!!

    Little Black Dress....

I am ashamed of my upper arms, so anything sleeveless is my thing. I don't know if I'm going to like my arms when I start losing weight because of my age and skin now, so I'm holding out in prayer that I have some snap back in that area.
  7. The lull liquid diet is not the killer. The killer is smelling the food that is being cooked for my family. Right now, I make my rounds, warm my broth and season it, then go to another room to enjoy it. This is what we, the family have agreed on. I'm sure when I am able to eat dense foods this will change.

I am finding the same thing with some of the food and the smell. I make myself smell it though, and then I think ok, this is what made me the way I am and I am smelling you to realize I don't want to be this way anymore but I will not deprive my family of you. LOL????

      BladeFox

Right! Same here. My son was making the MN hotdish and it is a comfort food, so I smelled, inquired about the seasoning he used, warmed my wonderful broth and left the room LOL! I do plan to make crock pot dishes for them, I haven't shared that with them. They don't have to suffer too much HA!!!

Yeah I have a few recipes that I can do in the crock pot too that a guy on here posted and they sound yummy!!! Are you trying to eat mushy stuff yet?

Specific friend advice needed! Pic included

You have made an oath to yourself that you wouldn't share the surgery to no one except your husband and mom. However this best friend doesn't know about what you have done. My question is 'why' doesn't she know? She is a 20 'year best friend. Maybe she doesn't want to go through it again with you losing and gaining then losing and... You see. She doesn't know that you have a tool that is helping this time around. There could be some jealousy but you know each other well.

    6 month update

    Good job!!!
  10. Started eating full liquids per my clinics orders and tried cream of chicken soup which was causing the diarrhea. I'm drinking almost too easily for being fresh out of surgery and no gas pains from surgery. It does mess with your mind that maybe they didn't do a tight boogie. It a head game in the beginning.

You will start to feel the restriction when you eat dense foods (fish, chicken beef, eggs). Don't worry, there is nothing wrong. I too have no problems with liquids. I was sleeved 8/6/2013 and have lost 100 lbs.

      BladeFox

Whoa! Congrats on your achievement. I'm thinking that was the tool and tons of exercise right kit klaus?

    3. kltklass

      kltklass

Thank you. Actually, I didn't start exercising until December 2013. However, I did walk about 1 mile a couple of days a week. My thought was that if I let the sleeve do the work first, then start exercising I wouldn't have to keep upping the level of exercise (you're body gets used to the amount of exercise and you have to increase your work outs to get the same effect). I can't say if this is right or wrong, but it is what I was comfortable with.

I now use an exercise bike everyday and walk 2 miles 3-4 days per week. Weight loss has slowed a bit, but it is heading in the right direction.

  11. Back home from surgery yesterday at 1pm. Stopped the drugs because it makes me too drowsy,I feel like I don't need it anyway. Still a bit of gas but not that troublesome. I'm on the liquid plan and next week I'll be on the puréed stage. I cannot trust a poot. I just go straight to the bathroom..uh no (here, hee).

  14. My two friends wanted to go on a couple of my food funeral lunches with me and then my man decided to surprise me with a date weekend and dinner funeral of his own. So I had to tell the ladies they are going to have to pick up with the new lady in a couple of weeks. I told them Thai soups is an option.

No you're not rambling. I just think this is a big subject that needs to be addressed. Many of us will return to our old ways due to fear, being sexualized, and self consciousness. If those that face this issue, (me) don't get a handle of it and face it head on we will never succeed and there inlies the problem. That is why I am keeping my psychologist to help me through this once and for all. So good to have a support team with weight loss this time around!

Rome, I have HealthPatrners as well and everything goes fast once you complete the calls. Approval comes immediately after the last call. You are near right about having surgery by mid May. Good luck!

I asked Donna at Southdale for other support groups in the twin cities and she gave me a list. There are two places near my neighborhood and even a call in support group when you can't make a meeting. Maybe find people in your hood that way.

I agree with most. I think I'm gonna need a shrink for this problem. I don't like getting a lot of physical/body attention. It's tough even for me to say I look good because I was always taught about modesty. Today's society is over sexualized and the hounding and remarks is not great for me. Odd I know.
  20. Completed my primary doctor physical and blood work came back alright except for that darn Creatinine. This is the reason why this surgery is warranted for me. Hopefully, my blood pressure will correct itself and my Creatinine levels will revert back to normal

    Yea-yah!!!
  22. Ummm, I would believe your doctor, PLUS, I think it was rude of the nurse to say that to you because everyone knows that it all about the work that you put into it. The sleeve is just a tool to control input and the rest is up to you. WHAT THE WHAT!!! Congratulation about your approval!
  23. So this week is all about getting the right foods, supplements and shakes in the house before surgery. Then packing up all of my technology loose fitting clothes and pillow for the hospital. 8 days away Baby!!!

LMAO, I have had my food funerals. I put to rest, chips, and soda, and corn, pineapple, bread, man oh man, I sometimes think about these things and am like I will never get to have some of these things again, but then I think about how I will feel and I don't care. I want to be healthy and in good shape to be able to do all the things I haven't done in so long!!! So I am ok with it for now anyway???? LOL
