    Post -op

My doctor and nurse said to eat what you can during the first 3 weeks because it's mostly slider foods. The work comes after you move to soft-solids. Enjoy!

Almost one year out (with pics)

Big or not lady, your toes looked good! Congrats!
  3. I believe I am starting to feel my restriction. I say this because lately, about 3 bites of food is all I can do. Very small, very tiny, barely nothing at each meal. Going back to protein shakes to get my protein in.

  4. I ate steak for dinner on Sunday, which is our time for family and fellowship, when I swallowed a piece without thinking. I told my husband, 'uh oh, I swallowed too big of a piece of meat, damn.' And sure enough, I was sick as a dog right afterwards. Well, there goes the good times right out the door. For an hour, I was burping like the grudge was coming out of my body, pain all in the esophagus area and burning, and I put my finger down my throat in hopes of making it come up and it didn't want to. Finally, I buried almost my whole hand down my throat (exag.) to get something up and that did it. Sick the whole evening and most of yesterday. Chew and don't talk, yet!

    Read a good book...
  7. I will be two month on Monday and have been in the weird place/stall where I will pick up 1 or 2 pounds and then lose it and back again. I think it's me trying new stuff and that's stalling me. I do know that I got hooked on beef Jerky sticks and salty/nitrate stuff and that happens to make us retain Water. So............................... I still enjoy one Protein shake when I'm low on protein and that is Jay Robb's chocolate whey Protein. I use it with Soy Milk, and cocoa powder and some stevia and add ice. Blend it in my NutriBullet and in heaven! ALSO, make sure that you are not eating salty foods or too many processed foods. I think the answer to all of our problems is we must eat clean. Meaning, we have to wake up and scramble eggs or make oatmeal, we must pack our home cooked meals during the day with protein first and we must commit to cooking our way to slim. The quick fixes add water weight and produces a stall. Wishing you luck and for myself!
  8. good job! Now I want to know how you did it? Exercise routine and calories eaten.
  9. I'm finding that I need to let go of the following foods: Beef Sticks, Beef Jerky, Sargento Part-Skim Moz sticks, Deli Slice meats. They have too much sodium and too many nitrates in them which retains water. Doesn't make a girl happy when she steps on the scale so now I'm done!

    1. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Blade I can't do the beef jerkeys??? I chew 100x over and it still gets stuck???

I love cottage cheese with canned peaches or pears..I know what you mean by too much salt and the effect on water retention. Cottage cheese is high in salt.

    3. BladeFox

      BladeFox

Carlotta1, I have started adding canned peaches and fruit in my cottage cheese too. I love it but you are right it is full of sodium still. I have got to find an alternative or just eat it once or twice a week.

  10. It must be in the stars for me this week! I am either in my calling or in my zone. Either way, I'll take it!

  11. Today was one of those magical days where in the world, all was good! Koosh~

      Carlotta1

      Good to hear that,

  12. The ups and downs of that damn scale!!! If I eat too many carbs, yet have the right amount of calories, the scale will either not move or move in the direction that I don't want it too. If I eat low carbs and eat less calories with exercise, the scale does the same or I lose weight. WHAT IS THE RIGHT COMBINATION?!?!?!!!???

    1. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Thanks blade me too!!! I don't really track my food I probably should??? I also have lost a dress size???

    2. relief57

      relief57

could it be water weight? Maybe watch your sodium intake.

    3. BladeFox

      BladeFox

Relief57, that may be it too. I have high blood pressure, the kind that likes to retain water and I have been eating a lot of beef sticks. All processed meats has tons of sodium in it so I am gonna try to go 'clean' and see what happens. I love a beef stick when I'm running to meetings and don't have time to eat. Geez, this is hard.

    Inches or Pounds?

Hell yea it matters which way!!! Even though I love losing my inches, the pounds must come off as well. Society/doctors still judge us by the scale and not our inches. Think about it, the first place the assisting nurse will take you is to get your weight and height. So when I got this surgery it was to bring that bmi down and the only thing that does that is weight. When I bring my bmi down, maybe no more meds and then everyone is happy. Just saying...
  14. I accidently drank from a straw out to dinner once, completely forgot that I shouldn't and nothing happened. I was drinking water fast and really enjoyed it. I haven't returned to drinking from a straw but I would love to.
  15. I read that water goes through fast because it's liquid and no you won't stretch your tummy out by gulping and yes your sleeve is working and still small. Experts say that your sleeve will stretch a bit but only after 8 months to a year which is normal.

My addiction is getting in the way

I am so sad that you are feeling defeated by your old habits. You are not alone. We have this great tool, but not one for our old habits. While at a conference I almost gave into my demon as well, because we are smart human beings that adapt quickly to how to cheat while eating less and that is called grazing. It took me a concerted effort to get back to eating Protein first, which fills you up fast AND going to bed early or staying away from the kitchen. I am sure that I will run into many more of these incidences throughout my journey and have to revert back to logic too. Consider the notion of getting rid of your unhealthy Snacks and crackers/bread, eating 3 square meals with two snack and make it protein first. Then, start back walking. I don't know if this is what is happening, but you must ask yourself where you fell off and then correct it. You went through too much to let Mr Old Habit rear his ugly head! Wishing you much success!!!
  17. Woo-Hoo Baby! Back on the losing side!!! Never thought being a Loser would feel so good :)

Girlie, I am dairy intolerant and can only have mozzarella cheese-interesting. I still can't eat salmon or talapia which is killing me. Then if I reach my calorie limit for the day, I get sick. Love my sleeve, but man oh man!!

    2. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Tell me about it. I think I am dairy intolerant like that too, cause I can eat cheese but milk and ice cream oh gosh it kills me like I get a wicked stomach ache that makes me feel like I am dying?

  18. I'm one of the lucky ones that can drink water pretty fast. However, I have been going to the gym and after the treadmill I go to the fountain thirsty. I have had to stop myself midstream because I realize that I'm gulping water like I used to. I'm also not a throw-upper, never have been. I think I have a gut of steel or something because the gag reflex is hard for me and throwing up is even harder. I hear that most people will eat fast or get food stuck and throw up, but with me...I get sick as a dog because my body just won't throw up even when I put my finger down my throat. All of that to say, that everyone is different. Check how you feel with taking bigger sips and a few gulps. Know your limits. Good luck!

    Discouraged and Heartbroken.

Wow! I don't know what to say except prayers coming your way. With everything you are going through it is no wonder why you are off track. Peace and blessings to you and your husband.
  20. I'm a little ways out from you, but every convenience store carries beef jerky and water. That'll be mine.
  21. Is anyone facing Bitchiness while in post op? My teens can get me going from 0-10 in 2 minutes flat. I'm also peri menopausal too but this is ridiculous.

@BladeFox I'm with you!! Have very low tolerance for annoyance & teens right now ;) the other day my man had to gently let me know "it's not them, it's you" cause I was complaining about my kids, people at work etc... I'm 2.5 weeks out

  22. Agreed, I am 6" and bigger boned. I chose a size 12. I think I would look sickly if I wore anything smaller. I would like to go as small as I can without looking like I have a problem however.

    Post op shopping advice

Nothing but a couple protein shakes pre mixed preferably and broths.
  24. It took me a week to lose the 4 pounds that I picked up during a conference. Ouch! I hope to never do that again. Now I'm back to what my ticker reads...
