  6. So yesterday as I was driving home it hit me. Although I am beyond thrilled, excited nervous scared and feeling a million other emotions...the slightest apprehension has been gnawing at me and I didn't even realize what it was..truthfully just thinking that it was nerves. As I pulled into my driveway the tears came pouring down my face....all this time...all these years...this overwhelming feeling I've been caring with me. SELFISHNESS. It hit me that deep down I felt guilty like I was being selfish during such a chaotic time in my life to even consider doing something so big so important for myself. Weight loss surgery. As a very busy full time executive, mother to 3 amazing kids (my youngest is 10 months), full time caregiver to my mother who has Heath issues...who in the world am I to even consider such a thing during such a crazy time. I declared in my car....now is the BEST time for me to take care of me and i am doing this for me and my kids. We all have to take care of ourselves so we can continue to be the 'rock' that so many of us are to our families and friends. I might add that my family is 100% supportive... This feeling I have is absolutely my doing but I feel so happy that I am able to recognize it. Why have I never considered wls all these years?!?! I am so excited to be on this journey with all of you. I love reading everyone's story. I hope this helps inspire just one person who may still be on the fence about taking control of their life again. I am tired of being 'the girl with the pretty face '. I am SO much more than that...and SO much more than a number on a scale. Thank you for listening. :-).
  7. Oops hit send too fast! Congratulations you should be SO incredibly proud of yourself ! Now that your 7 months out what's a typical day fir you food wise? Also you mentioned you didn't tell alot if people...didn't they notice the drastic weight loss? That's the only part I'm nervous about..because I really don't want to scream it from the rooftop that I'm having wls.
  8. Wow...I would've never guessed that's the sane person!
  9. Congrats Gus! You look great! You must feel great!

  16. Hi Blondiee, that's great! I have short term disability but I wasn't sure since this is an elective surgery if it would qualify. Hmm I should check into that...but the only issue is having to tell people...where as if I just took vacation time no one would know. Hmmm decisions decisions lol

  18. Be practicing...don't give up..hang in there !! You'll get through this.
  19. Sounds terrible and I am SO sorry you w had to hi through this. I would absolutely report this doctor to the medical board. Not sure how that's fine but if this a common thing he should not
  20. Hi Luck, def not alone. I would love to get feedback on how your process has been. What's been the greatest part of having the surgery and also have you had any unwanted issues or complications. Continues success to you!!!
  21. Some background...I'm 38 years old 5'4 and 243 lbs. I've got 3 kids (16 years old, 4 years old and 10 month old baby girl)...full time radio account executive so time is really never on my side lol. I've had 2 csections so I'm hoping the recovery/pain won't be as bad. Although I've always been very active and eaten pretty healthy I have always battled my weight. I truly feel like this surgery will help me be the healthier thinner person I've always felt I should be. I'm doing this fir my family and now especially my baby girl. My question us I've spoken to a few people who have had surgery and gave only taken 1-2 weeks off. I see a few people getting approval from work for a leave of absence. How much time are people planning on taking? I've slated 11 days...hoping this is enough. I can work at my desk during recovery. Fingers crossed...lol
  22. Oh also forgot to ask..any South Floridians??
  23. Hi there Sleevsters!!! Just realized there was a December group started...I'm on track for hopefully a December 5th surgery date woo hoo!!! I had researched long and hard before deciding on the sleeve (vs band) and feel so good knowing the sleeve is for me! I am so happy I did more research to find out all the issues people had/have with the band. Excited to meet some sleeve buddies for this new exciting journey!
