  1. Awesome! Which 10k trainer are you using? I need to find one. I am signed up for 5k's in April and May and a 10k in August! Love the massage idea especially! Thanks =)
  2. Hooray!!!! I set three initial goals for myself...to complete couch to 5k, to get under 200 and to weigh less than my husband. At the time the 200 and my husband's weight were further apart, but the whole family has been eating better since my surgery so he's lost weight as well (he didn't have a lot to lose just 20lbs or so). Anyhow yesterday I met all three goals on the same day!!!! 3.5 months out and down just over 71lbs. 199.8! And finished my last couch to 5k run...2.5 miles in 30 minutes. Need to find a way to celebrate/reward myself. Any ideas?
  3. I disagree about fast food only being salads. I don't handle lettuce well right now anyhow. I have found a lot of good fast food choices. Wendy's chilli Jack in the box grilled chicken strips Chick fil a grilled chicken nuggets McDonald's grilled chicken wraps (I don't eat the tortilla) Chipotle side of chicken or sofrita Panera bread hidden menu (google it) In and out Protein style burger Mongolian BBQ places (basically chose your own stir fry stuff) Grocery store salad bars are awesome choices bc they have lots of meats, boiled eggs, Beans and such
  4. Everything Pdxman says is totally true. But if allays any concerns I lost 17lbs my first week, but then "stalled" for about two weeks. It all evens out. I am 3.5 months out now and down 71lbs. Active and healthy.

I wanted to put it on my fruit. I eat fruit but it's missing tajin. I tried it yesterday it went well. Thanks. Tajin on Mango is my favorite!!! 3.5 months out and eating it fine.
  6. Two days of clear liquids only is what my dr required.
  7. I actually like it. However I like this one better: https://graph.facebook.com/myfavoriterun/photos/a.335791649823968.74871.334740213262445/575152615887869/?type=1 I find it inspiring. It boosts my confidence. [for some reason the link doesn't seem to work for me, will try to fix it from my home computer when I get there]
  8. Chick fil a has grilled chicken nuggets. Jack in the Box has grilled chicken strips. I have eaten just the chicken from a mcdonalds grilled chicken wrap. Wendy's Chili Grilled fish at "real" restaurants.
  9. I had that exact same pain at first and had a hiatial hernia repair as well. At three months out it's gone (unless I eat too fast or eat eggs ) and I never had any other complications,
  10. Mine was never acid or gas like. It was just aching burning pain in my side and back. I thought the first few were backaches and then had a other series of attacks after some kidney stones so thought it was related to that.
  11. I am just finishing week 8 and am running 4k. One more week and I will tell you if I make it to 5k
  12. Anyone experience this? The insides of my calves (both sides but the left more than the right) have been numb for a couple of days. A quick google search suggests it might be a B12 deficiency, BUT it's a later stage symptom not an early one and says the feet would be numb and mine aren't. Anyone experience this? I am on week 8 of couch to 5k so could it be running related? Anyone?
  13. Sleeved Dec 2. SW 271 Surgery weight 268 (no pre op diet just 48hrs clears) CW 205 (3 mo follow up today and apparently the dr's scale weighs 4lbs lighter than mine, I'll take it !)
  14. Yes right below my sternum. When I eat too fast or too much or something that doesn't agree with me (eggs).
  15. Honestly you just gotta stick it out for your own good and your own health. It's not fun, no. It gets old and repetitive, yes. But you can do it! It's only a few weeks!!! Hang in there.
  16. You know, I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered and only got two cans. But you know what, the more I think about it the more I think why do I want to take advantage of an honest mistake? One that will likely make a big difference to the livelihood of a company that employs a lot of people and needs to make a profit to continue to do so. It's not like it's some huge corporation that makes hundreds of millions. I am choosing to move forward with goodwill and to operate in good faith that it was an honest mistake made by people trying to do their best. One or two mistaken orders they could probably handle and "eat" with good grace, but when we flooded them it was going to really impact them. Just the way I see it.
  17. I am so inspired by you guys!!! I am so excited to join your ranks! I am ten weeks out from surgery and in the middle of week five of couch to 5k! I finished a 20 minute run today which just blew me away! It was a steep increase from my five minute runs a few days ago and my eight minute runs last session. I wasn't sure I could do it, but I did! My sister runs marathons and is encouraging me. I have signed up for 5K's in April and May and for the Disneyland half marathon weekend Labor Day weekend (5k and 10k). I love reading all your experiences!!!
  18. For those of you waiting to hear...wanted to share that I submitted pre op and didn't hear for weeks till after surgery. They told me most insurances won't approve till post op.
  19. I also lost 17lbs the first week and stayed near that weight for the next two weeks. My doctor said that I had lost so much the first week (way above the norm) that I couldn't really "trust" that loss and predicted the next weeks would be very slow. After the third week I have been steadily losing 2-5lbs a week. Don't stress it.
  20. I am 9 weeks out (12/3) and have lost 54lbs since surgery (no pre op diet required). As for the calorie count and starvation mode, for what it's worth I still can't get my calories up, haven't crossed 700 once. In fact yesterday it was only in the 400's. I run couch to 5k (started week 6 today). So not everyone goes into the starvation mode at a lower calorie count. I did have the dreaded stall at 3 weeks but haven't stalled since.
  21. Couch to 5k! Finish week 4 tomorrow
  22. I am 11 weeks out and still couldn't eat anywhere near what they have on that full foods stage! Most of the foods, yes, but the amounts no way, LOL
