  1. I can do the fish part but not the rice so I get sashimi
  2. Oh coffee creamer! I use Atkins vanilla protein shake for it and love it! Just a suggestion for that one. It's higher in fat/carbs than my regular protein shake so I save it for a treat in my coffee!
  3. LOL I figure I gave up enough I can keep the few "sins" that remain--real coffee, gum, cheese, quest bars--I do all of em and don't regret any of it!
  4. Wow that's definitely pricey. I sometimes spend $8-12 on a used pair of a high end brand (Joe, Paige, Lucky, etc.) but $20? Wow!
  5. As Livvsmum says Couch to 5k! I did it a year ago and thought I would DIE during the run intervals. I have never in my life been a runner! Flash forward and I am winning my age division in 5-10k's and an 8 mile trail run this past weekend. Also have completed several 200 mile relays and a half marathon. Training for a full marathon in May.
  6. Rolls of coins in your pockets? Sew fishing weights into your hems? Wear your heaviest boots and coat? Definitely drink a TON of Water before they weigh you. I am sure there are more tricks!
  7. I think you find conflicting information because different people have different experiences. I took 10,000mg biotin dally from pre op and got all my protein and it didn't stop my hair loss. Started at about 6 months stopped about a year out. It's growing back though.
  8. My doc said no need, it's all drinking not eating. Only need to wait between liquids and SOLID food
  9. Such a great question!!! My puddle makes me still feel fat even tho I am a size 4 and my body fat DXA scan said 18%. I work out a ton (yoga and running) but everyone tells me it's just skin, but I feel like if it were just skin it would be only a few millimeters thick, mine def has some subcutaneous fat. But is it a normal amount? I mean we all have that, right? Or can I still burn it off? I am below the midpoint of the normal weight range for my height and like I said have an 18% body fat.... Wish I had a good answer! Looking forward to hearing what others have to say!
  10. Oh yes!!! That's the other thing I used! The hospital pillows are incomfortable anyhow so I used my regular bed pillow!
  11. Ummm 1% is 1 in every 100 dies which is twice the risk the initial poster quoted of 1 in 200 (which would be a .5% chance). My surgeon has had one death in 12 years and thousands of surgeries. A very elderly person with lung issues from the get go and had a pulmonary embolism
  12. They gave me special soap at my pre admit at the hospital. I brought SO MUCH STUFF and barely used any of it, even my iPad which I am addicted to! I used my phone (bring a charger and an extension cord), Chapstick and my earplugs. The hospital gave me pretty much everything else and even gave me earplugs I just liked mine better. I wasn't allowed to use any of the OTc things I brought---lozenges, gas x, etc. They provided toiletries, socks, slippers, etc. I tend to be an over preparer!
  13. Sounds awesome! I'm gonna try it! For the pepperoni craving--get turkey pepperoni and lay a few slices on a paper towel and microwave for 30-45 sec and it will crisp up and you can eat it like a chip! YUM. Lower fat to begin with bc of the turkey and then a lot of the fat cooks off. Nice high Protein snack! Sodium is high Im sure so use in moderation
  14. I had three Oreos this morning for breakfast! After I ran an 8 mile trail race w a 1400' elevation rise and placed second in my age group. Oh yeah, had w few potato chips and some Peanut Butter pretzels too. I've lost over half my initial body weight weigh 135 wear a size 4 and have 17.5% body fat. I love being "skinny" because people no longer judge what I eat!
  15. GREAT JOB!!!
  16. I will be a dissenting opinion. I go to starbucks regularly. I usually get a tall dry NF cappucino. Sometimes I add a pump of SF syrup. The only calories in it are from the nonfat milk. 50 calories/5 G protein/8 g carbs. Slightly more if you don't want It dry--70 calories/6G protein/9G carbs. Occasionally I will get a skinny hazelnut latte--120 calories/12G protein/19G carbs. Fits into my plan very nicely and I've been doing it a few times a week since about three months out. I've lost 135lbs and am below goal.
  17. Please read the Genepro thread on here. It doesn't have 30 g of protein per scoop, it actually has 10g. They claim its 3x more bio available so it's EQUIVALENT to 30g of another brand, but the science is questionable or at least unverified by independent research. Just FYI. I can't do premier either before or after surgery. Tastes plastic to me. I use Syntrax and BSN powders and the occasional premade Atkins or GNC Lean.
  18. My anthem blue cross exp was similar
  19. Moving comfort! Love em
  20. Thank you for sharing!!! Made some of these this morning--YUM!
  21. another thing I found super helpful was dress clips (muffin clips are a good substitute). You can use them to cinch in a blouse or top or dress to fit better when it's getting to big!
