I did a six hour round trip at five days out. I was in the “as soon as you’re off narcotics” camp and I felt fine.

Yes thrift and consignment stores!! And only a few things at a time. And absolutely—plus sizes fit for about a 40-50 pound range! And that gets smaller and smaller as you do. My size 4’s can get tight if I’m up as little as 3-5lbs!

Arm Lift and Tummy Tuck
jess9395 replied to j.winters1028's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I mean you could... but I didn’t need any private help. I wouldn’t have known what to do with one. Perhaps if you are skittish about your drains... but they are easy... just if you’re squeamish. And I had arms, boobs and tummy done all at the same time. And I was no spring chicken, pushing 50. If you think t might be useful to you try a nursing school and see if they have a student who might be interested! -
Just to clarify you have to be on the desktop site you can’t do it from the phone app

Anyone else have this problem?
jess9395 replied to walleyecrazy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to readjust your posture! We’ve developed a way to sit based on our body shape and as it changes we need to adjust. My Physical Therapist worked on this with me. You need to reclaim the curvature of the lumbar spine and basically sit on the backs of your thighs (your “sitz” bones as my yoga teacher says) instead of your tailbone. Good posture doesn’t involve sitting on the tailbone. Pic of what I mean—- -
How did you decide on your goal weight?!
jess9395 replied to bookworm1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I set intermediate goals not a final goal. I started at 271 (I’m 5’6”) Goal 1 - under 200 Goal 2 - less than my husband Goal 3 - size 10 Goal 4 - lowest adult weight (155) Stretch goal - single digit sizes I blew right past all of those and surprised myself fully. Landed at 135 and a size 4 (which if I’m fair due to vanity sizing is more like an 8 of my youth). Anyhow my point is, health is the primary goal. Then after that I think setting intermediate goals is a way to keep motivated and successful. And finally, you might surprise yourself. Then I just kept going -
How far out are you? Yeah certain foods caused me pain Early out (eggs for example) so I avoided them and now can eat them fine. Other foods still cause pain or discomfort like rice and bread.

How big is your stomach after VSG?
jess9395 replied to maofmany's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The doctors use a “bougie” as a guide for cutting and the true size of your sleeve depends on the size your doctor uses and the method they use. But here are some visual representations -
Damn... can’t believe you haven’t gotten more responses! I’m replying to bump this to the top so more people can see it. I will be your next non reply because I had the sleeve not bypass and I know how you feel about the sleeve... but I lost for a year almost exactly. I don’t know if I might have lost for longer or not because I didn’t want to lose any more and put the brakes on.

The Popsicle brand uses Splenda

C-section pain vs Sleeve pain?
jess9395 replied to FingersCrossed18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto! C section was way harder! Harder than my vaginal birth too! -
It’s quite hard to see what “room” a conversation is in on the app. They should fix that.

BTW most stones are calcium. The others don’t happen frequently.
-
If you have high blood calcium PLEASE see an endocrinologist and get your parathyroid hormone checked! That was the cause of my high blood calcium and stones. I needed parathyroid gland surgery to correct it (NOT related to the thyroid, just nearby). It was left untreated way too long and I needed major surgery instead of minor and wound up with osteopenia from it.

Different strokes. Sometimes self selection and people leaving one board for another isn’t a bad thing. Some of my favorite boards were founded by people who left other boards. People are not homogeneous and thus we seek different online experiences. So different forums with different experiences are a good thing. I like to have people be blunt with me and call me on my crap. And I dont like to self censor and worry about offending people. Luckily those things should go together in a message board culture. I’m a duck things roll off my back. But I can also be quite blunt. I don’t think I’m unkind but I don’t care if someone does think that. My type deserves a home just as much as the other.

Anyone stay on shakes for meal times longer than first couple weeks?
jess9395 replied to GansettRam74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No they are just whey isolate -
And BTW I have no clique and no online friends. I have agreed and disagreed with the same people. I dont come here for friends, I come here for a free exchange of ideas and information.

My response is to@sideeye this quoting thing got messed up in this thread. It’s the rants and raves board. I can rant and rave on here about labels and such. I didn’t take it up in any of the discussions where it’s arisen and haven’t. And it comes up repeatedly... and has for years and years. Drove some good people away. This makes me sad. Thus my rant.
-
And I would not stay on this board you describe. Too many limits on communication. I’m glad there are choices, just like in life. Different boards, different cultures. We all grow, learn, thrive in different climates.

My quote didn’t work here so I’m editing

What to bring to the operation?
jess9395 replied to stargirl19's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Earplugs Chapstick for sure! And yeah charger and extension cord. My hospital didn’t allow biotene or gas x or even throat lozenges to be used unless provided by them and prescribed by doc. -

Your own pillowcase. Hospital ones are plastic-y and crunchy. -
Any advice for major bypass complications
jess9395 replied to Pamdj51's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hope someone who has had similar issues will respond, but the majority of us haven’t which is likely why you’ve received no replies. Sounds like you’ve been through the wringer I’m so sorry! -
5’6” started at 271. I never set an ultimate goal. First goal was under 200. Next was less than my husband. Then was lowest adult weight (155). If anything I had a size goal which was that I would be over the moon to get to single digits (8). I blew by it all and became a muscular and toned 135/size 4 at almost exactly one year out.
