Pretty common after effect of going under anesthesia. It's hard/painful to take a deep breath. -

Have you tried one that's not all whey isolate? I found I just can't stand whey isolate, but when I tried a blend (synthrax matrix for me) it was a whole different thing -
This is just a question...

Me too! I feel every tiny bubble in my shakes and they collect and I burp more than I ever have in my life! I have to let the shakes sit after the shaker bottle to let the air out an that helps. -
Struggling with getting my eating/drinking balanced here (eating here being soup/yougert/cream of wheat/etc). I would love to do what you are suggesting, it's dang hard to "eat" for me. But then how do you balance the drinking? If you can't drink 30b4/30after....I am having a heck of a time. If I ate a couple of bites every 20 mins when would I drink? I was so proud of myself getting in all my Water Sunday and as soon as a started "eating" it got much harder!

My surgeon uses them on a case by case basis. He warned me I might wake up with one, but I didn't. He said some people build up more fluid than others and it helps prevent infection in those people. Maybe some surgeons techniques cause more fluid build up? Or maybe some are more cautious. -

Surgery Monday and I am right there with you guys! I was thrilled I could make 40 oz of water yesterday. And 15g protein this morning. Ironic the last thing I want to do is eat and I have to force myself to (well drink anyway!)

I saw that I just couldn't possibly drink all that! I did half a premiere protein and like 3 oz of broth. Wonder if I need to worry that I couldn't get that in. -

I don't even have sleep apnea (passed the sleep study with no significant apneas) and yet the hospital pulmonologist (sp?) tried to convince me I needed to use one in the hospital post-op. She seems put off that I didn't have one and set about trying to get One for me to use. I was completely caught off guard by her insistence so I didn't argue...luckily my dr came by an hour or so later to check on me and said I didn't need one.

It's so expensive. I don't think I was ready for the pharmacist to say over 200 dollars for my prescriptions! Gotta do whatcha gotta do. Wow I guess I am lucky! Insurance paid for most of my prescriptions. A week of Levonox was only $24 -

Yes. My surgeon has everyone do them. Gave myself the first one yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. They gave me one in the hospital and showed me how. -
Thanks for the tip. Trying warm water now

I was sleeved Monday and came home yesterday evening. Pain was very tolerable for me, my heart goes out to you who are suffering =( I am really impressed by those of you doing broth and jello and all already! I am lucky if I can get in all my water. First sip is ok but second hurts. Luckily they didn't require me to do the broth or shakes they brought me before I was able to leave or I would still be there. So much more comfortable at home. I am hoping to try some protein shake tomorrow. Maybe part if a Popsicle or a bite of jello later today. Praying for all you folks going in tomorrow! -
Yes! I 2 days out as well (surgery Monday) and I can usually get one tiny sip down pain free but the second hurts. Was just coming on here to ask the same question!

Yay! I am tomorrow too...and I second the kudos for all the vets out there sharing with us! I don't post much but read it all! And learn so much for you guys! Good luck tomorrow!

I am tomorrow morning! Excited and nervous. One trick I have found is That for me the Protein blends (like Synthrax Matrix) are soooooo much more tolerable than the ones that are only whey isolate. The simply vanilla had no protein taste to me at all!

I want to buy a new scale before my surgery next Monday (seven days and counting!!!) Anyone have one they love? Trying to read reviews on AMAZON is making me crazy...even for the ones with 4-5 stars, there are people who write in and say they are inconsistent and break! I don't mind paying $$ for a good one! Thanks

Found these at Walmart today! Thought others gearing up for the liquid diet might appreciate them like I did!

Metallic Taste In Mouth When Taking Calcium

I have been using the Bariatric Advantage chews. They taste like candy and are sugar free. The caramel are my favorite and the fruit ones taste like starburst! -
Found these broths at the store today...they count as clear liquid but have some different/interesting flavors:
