  1. I had a hard time with the no drinking and eating at first. I got serious about it during the last 3 weeks before surgery. After surgery I'm sure the sleeve will force you to remember. Hang in there and congrats on your approval!!

  2. I was approved for surgery in August of this year but I just started a new position at work and didn't want to take off yet so I pushed it back and was recently sleeved. Is there away you can delay it until spring break to allow yourself time to recoup a little? I know you may not want to but unfortunately you do not know how your body will react to the procedure so you should allow yourself some time.

  3. It's an individual choice that each person has to decide on based on their own personal preferences. As for me I'm an open book. I had my surgery 2 days ago and announced it to FB yesterday. The response and support has been phenomenal and I have inbox messages and texts from people who are considering the surgery or already had it. However that is my story and my choice in approaching the matter. It's what works for me. You should do what is best for you and if that means remaining private than so be it.

  4. I am staying another night too. I want to make sure my pain is manageable on po meds. My right side hurts the most too. Doc sats its where they pull the stomach out and there are some internal stitching. The nurse told me most people stay 2 nights its rare to go home after one day. On a funny note, anyone do anything crazy on versed before the surgery? i apparently held my hands up and screamed "wooo im on a rollercoaster!!" while being wheeled to or. I also told my sister i thought i was drunk. Lol! anyone else?

My surgery was yesterday. I'm feeling very sore and I had a lot of gas pain but that is getting better as I am now getting out of bed and walking. I slept a lot yesterday. I do remember feeling drunk and asking everyone did they get a good night sleep before surgery but that's about all I can remember. Hope everyone is doing well.

  6. Thank u x I suppose I'm like everyone else here, and no different. The headaches I went through were unbearable. I suppose after the surgery it will be easier x

Just remember we haven't been good to our bodies and now that we are trying to do something about that it wants to revolt but we alone only have the power to control us. Stay positive and ask for help if you need it.

  7. Don't worry about it. I know it hurts but you did what was best for you not what was best for her. Your accomplishment isn't anything to take lightly. Congrats on your success this far! Celebrate it and don't let anyone make you feel that it is small. Maybe you can sit her down at some point later, not today and let her know she makes you feel when she does this. She may listen, she may not but at least you will have released it. You do have support right here on this site and I'm sure you have loved ones who are rooting for you as well. Lean on them in the rough times. I wish you the best in your journey.

  8. It is very hard but use this time to work on discipline. It will be the same discipline needed to keep the weight off. Remember this isn't a quick fix it's a change of lifestyle for us. Find healthy "cheats" if you need to just have something extra. Mine is sugar free Jello or pudding. I'm not on full liquids but I'm on a 1000 calorie diet for since last Friday. My surgery is Wednesday. I do two Protein Shakes and a small meal but prior to the start of the pre-op diet I put myself on a modification so that the change wouldn't be a complete shock. I started with one Protein Shake a light lunch then dinner. I think that has helped me prepare for this. I wish you the best with your preparation and just keep the bigger picture in mind. You can do this!! Good luck =)

  9. I'm glad you admitted your shortcomings and now you can get back on the wagon. I'm on my 4th day of my pre-op diet but I have a 1000 calorie diet as opposed to liquids only. I have been following the plan although tonight I had about 1100 calories. Keep pushing thru and think about your goal. Maybe try going for a walk when you start to think about food. Another key to losing weight is getting the proper amount of sleep. I lose slower or not at all when I don't get enough rest to allow my body to burn calories. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

  10. Congrats on your adoption!! I adopted two boys when they were 1 & 2. They're now 12 & 13 and it was the best decision I've ever made. They have brought so much joy and fulfillment to my life. I wish you the best with your new daughter.

  11. I just got back from my NUT and pre admission appt. I start my pre op diet tomorrow. My surgeon does a 1000 calorie diet as opposed to just liquids. He actually said I can eat on thanksgiving if I want but don't over do it however I am determined to eat within the plan. The countdown is officially on for Dec 4.

  12. I am reposting this Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that another sleever posted. I don't remember her name and it's not on the sheet, but she posted it for everyone.

I can't wait to start logging numbers into it. At the bottom, there are 2 tabs. The second one has the directions on it.

The numbers plugged in are mine but I think you just click in that first box on the top (follow the directions) and put your own starting weight and it changes everything for you.

This is Great!! Thanks for posting!!

  13. I'm new to this blog. I am finally going to be getting the surgery. The paperwork too so long and now I got my approval from the insurance and on Monday I go in and neet eith the surgeon again. Then Wednesday I meet fir pre-op stuff and start my 2 week liquid diet. Boy idk if I can do 2 weeks on straight liquids. Scared of failure but excited for the start of a new life. I'm 31 yrs old weight as of last week was 317 (biggest yet) I can't wait to back down to 150-160ish. I'm so glad there is a support group of people going through the same thing. I've never had surgery before and so scared something bad is going to happen. Oh ya my surgery date is December 4th 2013. I wish everyone the best of luck in there journey :-)

Yay we have the same surgery date!! I see nutritionist and have my pre admission stuff done on Thursday then on to the liquid diet. I have been drinking a Protein Shake for Breakfast and then a light lunch and dinner for the last 2 weeks to try get prepared. It will be a little tough at first but I'm looking forward to it because that puts me one step closer to the big day.

  14. I've just cancelled my surgery. Was supposed to have it on 22 Nov, but as my research continues I am not so convinced anymore. I just wonder where all the people are who have had their sleeve for 5+ years are on the Internet. All I seem to find on the intranet and You Tube is forums and films which have people who have had the surgery in the last 2 or so years. Now, I know that the sleeve is a relatively new surgery, but even so. WHERE ARE YOU 5+ YEAR SLEEVERS TO CONVINCE ME THAT THIS IS REALLY A LONG TERM SOLUTION THAT IS WORTH IT? Let's proof the medical research which suggests that many/some/a certain percentage gain most of the weight back on AND at the same time suffer life-long complications. Has anyone found any good online source of success stories from 5+year sleevers? Please let me know.

Well if I'm not mistaken gastric bypass was the preferred surgery by most insurance companies until a few years ago. You see it more now because people can get it covered. You probably don't see anyone over 5 years too often because it hasn't been around long and it's only recently become a preferred method of WLS.

  15. Congratulations to you!<br><br> I had to post about the "how much have you lost" question that we will be receiving. <br> I really like the answer "a bunch!"<br><br> My surgery was yesterday and I was calm going in and feel amazing and accomplished right now. Except for no sleep, all is good!

I hope I feel those same feelings on my big day. I have had surgery (gallbladder) before so I think that may contribute to me not being nervous. Congrats on your surgery!!! I'm glad to hear your doing well and I wish you much success!!!

  16. Hello :) Congratulations on your surgery date! Excitement is definitely a better a better emotion to start the adventure with. An adventure it certainly is as each day I have small NSV's (non scale victory). Easier to move, clothes loosing up, etc. I am 3 weeks out from surgery and had similar questions asked by it seemed like everyone that I knew as the surgery date got closer. My typical response was "no, I've researched it thoroughly and I am confident this is what I need to do". Once people saw that I was confident about it they backed off a little. I go back to work next week and am expecting a deluge of "how much have you lost?" LOL - much better question given all that effort put forth to make it happen. :)

Thanks LuckyT! I expect that same question after the surgery as well lol. Congrats on your surgery and best wishes as you go back to work!
