    Chia seeds

If you want to try them for their health benefits, you can mix them into a shake or gravies, into puddings, you can also grind them and use them as a flour substitute. I wouldn't use them specifically for weight loss however - I don't know how well they would work for that with our sleeves.

What to eat from Chinese reataurant?

Some of the more healthy options are soup (of course), any chicken or beef dish that is unbreaded (a lot of them - even beef with broccoli or cashew chicken sometimes - have breading on them of some kind), seafood dishes, shrimp dishes, if your band can tolerate it, sometimes they have the Vietnamese spring rolls with the rice paper, lettuce, shrimp and veggies. There really are some good choices - just be sure to look for stuff that isn't breaded or deep fried that you know your band will tolerate!

    Greek Yogurt weird question

I agree with what everyone else has said - it's supposed to separate like that
  4. This is such a great topic. We actually did a blog post on it: http://7bitesshow.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-biggest-loser-finale-2014-some.html One of the points we make is that we know we don't know the whole story. We don't know what her doctors or trainer thought/thinks about the situation, honestly. But I do wonder if, for her, it was about the money more than her health? Did she push herself too far simply to win?
  5. If anyone has been looking for some quick and easy low-carb sweet treats for holiday entertaining - or if you're just looking for some sweet bites for everyday - here's our latest episode! Check it out and let us know what you think!
  6. I want you to know that I meant absolutely no disrespect whatsoever for your post. I know that it's possible, I've just never seen an actual news report about something like that happening and I'm a skeptic by nature. Being mindful about what we eat really is ESSENTIAL to our health and well being - and I think that was the whole point you were trying to make. I'm sorry if I hurt or offended you in any way - it wasn't my intention to do so!

    Weight loss between friends

Oh good LORD!!!! That was a backhanded complement ... Did you say something about her ears sticking out or her buck teeth or something in retaliation, LOL?
  8. Welcome! I'm sorry to hear your husband isn't on board with your surgery. Does he have weight problems himself or is he one of those 'naturally thin' people? I ask because I've notice that a lot of people that don't have weight issues have no clue and will often say the same thing about self control. Hopefully when he sees your progress he'll come around. I was on diet after diet for close to 20 years before I finally gave in and got the sleeve last July. I am so glad I did it. Before, I had no self control and I couldn't finish what I started. The sleeve has kind of forced me to be able to do that, in a way. I, too, was TERRIFIED of failure, but here's the thing - you follow your doctors orders and eat well, and it's almost guaranteed that you'll be just fine! Good luck to you and your surgery, keep us posted!
  9. One thing I want to point out is that it's possible to regain on ANY WLS - RnY, DS, Lap Band, Sleeve ... It's possible to "eat around" any and all of these if one REALLY wants to. So don't let your fear of that be a deterrent. Like others have said: RnY is a tried-and-true surgery. Many MANY people have done amazingly well on it. A good friend of mine from high school had it done and she's done wonderfully. If you follow your guidelines and do what you're supposed to do, chances are good that you'll do great! Good luck!
  10. There are times people complement me and sometime I wonder if it's sincere. I totally feel this post.

    My Line In The Sand

    You can do it!
  12. I agree with the likely urban myth. That being said - eating a whole cheeseburger after surgery is just plain idiotic!!

    Difference In Practices

I agree the differences are HUGE from doctor to doctor! Not only pre-surgery testing but also pre-op diets and what they tell patients after surgery. It can make ones head spin sometimes.
  14. Some docs and nuts say yes, some say no. I'm assuming you're on liquids ..?

My surgeon is a horrible person

There is certainly an issue and should be reported to the board for sure. IDK if there is a malpractice case there, but it wouldn't hurt to contact an attorney.

    Gluten/Wheat allergy Celiac disease

It's a much easier lifestyle than you would think! We are a low-gluten family and there are tons of options out there. If you're going low-carb, then gluten free is actually a natural effect of that! You can use soy flour in place of white flour in a lot of recipes - George Stella is a great resource for recipes like that! If you're NOT going low-carb, there are gluten free baking mixes (I prefer Bisquick's version - it has xanthan gum which is a gluten replacement and all-natural), there are some great gluten free pastas out there, and you can use rice, potatoes, and corn for starches. You can use corn instead of wheat tortillas too. I would be sure though that if you use oatmeal to make sure and buy a gluten free version because some oatmeals have wheat gluten added to them! So, you don't necessarily have to go to any special store to buy stuff, just make sure you read labels and look for anything that says "malt" or "barley" as items to 100% avoid.

    Coping With Christmas

My advice would be to not completely cut yourself off. It's okay to allow yourself a treat now and again - NOT every day, of course! Also, keep high-protein things on hand at all times - nuts, cheese, jerky ... things like that. And water!! I never believed that water would help stave off cravings, but it really works!! Something else to consider - for some sleevers, dumping syndrome does happen - I happen to be one of those lucky few that it affects, LOL. So if you're one of those and sugar, carbs, and /or high fat foods cause this for you, let that be a deterrent! You can also bring some healthier versions of treats to share with co-workers

    Who Is Drinking Sodas

I have one occasionally. I don't every day because it affects my reflux, but I don't completely avoid them either.

    Boot Camp Diet

Love this. The pouch test is great for those that actually have a pouch, but what sleevers don't understand or don't realize is that we DON'T have a pouch. A pouch and a sleeve are two completely different things and act and behave completely different. So a sleever will try the pouch test and wonder why it doesn't work. I also think it's important for us to remember once we're at a certain point - for ALL WLS people - we NEED to be getting as much as possible from REAL food - meats, beans, cheeses, veggies, etc. Protein shakes are okay in a pinch, but are not the same and are not absorbed as easily as actual food is. Great post!

I Feel Like I Eat To Much...

It would help if you could tell us what you're eating. I know at 7 weeks I could eat a lot more than I thought I would be able to.
