Hi Ira, My surgery is scheduled for June 8th at Hackensack Hospital. I live in Bergen County also, Hackensack about one block from the hospital. My doctor is Dr. Trivedi. I am nervous now that it is finalized. You are so close by...email me and keep in touch. Maria

Hi Everyone, My surgery date is June 8th and my insurance company has given the green light. I have my pre admission testing next tuesday and then surgery the following Wed. I am extremely nervous now that it is finalized. I am getting cold cold feet...so need some support and advice. Thanks, Maria

Hi Everyone, I bought the liquid Vitamin that is made by "The Vitamin Shoppe" ...orange creme flavor and it has no after taste. Actually it tastes good and has tuns of Vitamins. The difference between the one that is mentioned above is that IT contains herbs and the one that I bought does not. The cost on a large bottle was $20. If for some reason you do not like it they will take it back and give you a refund. My surgery is on June 8th so I thought it wise to start trying a few things now rather than after the surgery. Hi everyone, I live in Hackensack. I am close to a few people on here. Yeah!!!! My surgery is schedule for June 8th at Hackensack University and my surgeon is Dr. Trivedi. I am nervous and excited if that makes any sense. I am extremely glad to see people on here that live close to where I live. If anyone has any information on how there surgery went...please reply. I am getting my surgery on June 8th. I am nervous about it and scarred. I have had gallbladder surgery...C-Section..but this one is a total life change. Reading your letter...has given me inspiration. I went to a Support Group that was required by my dr. and left upset....but told that I need to get my body in shape NOW..that I have to start NOW taking Vitamins...start to exercise. All I could think about when I left the meeting was what I was going to eat so that I wouldnt miss it after the surgery. You letter has put things in prospective for me. I am an emotional eater and I have been under and enourmous amount of stress these past two weeks. I am going to implement your plan and start tomorrow.. I am not a failure..I realize that now. Hi Everyone, I had my visit with the surgeon, we picked a surgery date and I am not a nervous wreck.. I have my psych evaluation and it went well. I went to the required support group and thats what has me so nervous. They told me that they stick a tube down your throat when you are asleep. Well that grossed me out. I also have problems with allergies to medicines...so I really need to speak to the anathesiaologist (i mispelled the name badly..sorry). I was excited at first and now getting cold feet. I do need the surgery because I have tried everything and lost and then gained more back. I am at my highest weight and just feel awful. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maria

I have an appointment with Dr. Trivedi in Hackensack on April 19th...getting close...then I will set up a surgery date. I have my pre surgery support group meeting on April 21st. Excited but nervous. I had my psch exam this past Tuesday and that went well. Any info you want to give me would be helpful. Maria

Thanks for all of your support. I made my psych appointment for 4/5 and I have to pay $175 up front but they will fill out the forms for my insurance so I will keep my fingers crossed that it is covered. I have my surgeon appointment on 4/19 and will make my final decision and have the dr. file the papers for my insurance for approval. A friend of a friend had her surgery done by this dr. and the insurance paid for it so I am keeping my fingers crossed on that issue also. I have made my decision to have the surgery because at this point I do not see any other way to resolve my problem. Eating large portions is my major problem and the lap band seems to be just what I need. I also am required to attend one support group meeting before the surgery which is scheduled for 4/21 where they explain how much your life will change as far as eating, excercise, etc. It is also recommended that you attend meetings after the surgery so that your body adjusts and mind adjusts to the weight loss. So I do have a lot of positives and am excited and a bit nervous about the surgery. Like who wants to have surgery? Anyway, I am also glad I found this site because everyone here is extremely supportive and I know I will need that after surgery. So THANKS so much for being here. Maria

My name is Maria. My surgeon is Dr. Trivedi in Hackensack. I am going for the psych exam on tueday and surgeon appointment on 4/18 and the support group meeting on 4/21/05. I am hoping my insurance will approve the surgery soon thereafter. I have come to this decison after going to seminar a year ago. I have tried so many diets and have lost but gained it back. At this point in my life my metabolism is slow and my self control is gone. I am hoping that this lap band surgery will make me feel full thus help me lose the weight I need to lose. Maria

Hi, I am not an offical bander yet. I have an appointment with a surgeon on April 19th...very nervous. My primary dr.gave me the go ahead. So now my mind is made up. I am hoping my insurance covers it and I am banded by either the end of May or June. So I will be up to meeting with everyone in Sept. I live in Hackensack NJ which is very close to NY. I will need lots of support when I get my surgery date, etc....so I expect to be on this site quite a lot. Take care, Maria

I have just begun my journey. I have an appointment with the surgeon on April 19th and getting a little discouraged. A friend on mine had the lap band surgery and is doing well and has the same insurance that I have but since her surgery the doctors have seemed to changed their procedure....so I have to have a psych exam and attend on support group meeting. The support group meeting I have to pay for and I am in search of a psychiatrist who will accept my insurance. To be honest.......I have health care insurance and resent the fact that the psch dr. that the surgerons office referred me to wanted the $$$$ up front and they would bill my insurance. Anyone disgusted with all of the preparation???? I am also having second thoughts about the lap band even though I need to so something because I am 325 lbs. Could use some advice...support. Maria
