Question For those who have done/are doing Atkins

Water weight or not... I gotta get it off right? Plus I'm pretty sure I lost my "water weight" during the first week after surgery when I lost 12 lbs. whatever it is that is tying up the scale it's got to get out of me!

How Much Do You Think Your Bazoombas Weigh?

I just saw this thread but I had to reply!!! Since I'm a 40G I am guessing mine are about 5 lbs each. I can just -10 lbs each time I weigh I hope so terribly that they will go down to a manageable D cup again when I lose!!

    Planks Anyone?

Lmao this was me on Tuesday in Pilates! Especially with sideways planking! My toothpick wrists could NOT hold my 222 lb body let alone my 1 toothpick wrist holding my 222 lb body!!!

    No restriction with carbs...anyone else?

I'm not going to give up on it yet because it's pretty good on the proteins but not the carbs. I'm just going to try to cut the carbs better and get my fluids in! That part is hard because I work where sometimes I don't get a minute to go to the lavatory if need be and same with school!

No occasionally I really slip towards the junk like I had a small piece of cake at an office party. Or I would sometimes have bread in a sandwich or toast with breakfast or a wrap with breakfast. I try my best not to mess with these foods at all though. Before when my band was looser I was eating a lot of junk still just in smaller quantities. Now I really try to stick as much as possible to the proteins. My problem is no time!!! I just ran to the food store real quick and bought some rotisserie chicken salad just to have in the fridge for these times I need to just "grab and go"

Forgot also to mention surgery was outpatient and I went food shopping on the way home. I used a motorized scooter and was kind of exhausted (also because I worked overnight before surgery) but surgery wasn't really bad at all. Just to give you an idea!

    3rd day post op question

It could also be gas stuck in your chest. It happens to get stuck there so often. so make sure you walk around as it's the only way to re-absorb and get it out

Dr Ward is great IMO. The only thing I was unsure about was he had me back to work on 1 week and as a nursing assistant it was a little rough for the first few days (I had to ask for extra pain meds) I was back to school after 5 days. My only issue with work was bending though for maybe 3-4 days. I call him speedy Gonzales because he gets you back to normal life as quick as possible. I did liquids/softs like puddings etc for a week and then at my 1 week post op he told me it was okay to have solids. I was surprised but also excited because I wanted food haha. The swelling didn't allow me to eat too too much though. His advice is to eat slowly and chew well which I found to work pretty well. Also if you see a NUT, try to remember the guidelines and go by that: protein first then veg then carb if you have room. My first fill was 4 weeks post op and he is generous w/ fills. I had about 3cc or so put in. It helped but I was still able to eat a significant amount (def not as much as pre op though). Another 4 weeks (about 2 weeks or so ago) I had fill # 2 and I'm at a total of about 5.5-6cc and I believe I'm at my sweet spot. If I take too big a bite or don't chew well enough with some stuff it seems to go down too rough but other than that I feel pretty good. I can go all day with only eating 1 significant meal sometimes and maybe a protein drink or a naked juice to keep the energy up. Also, make sure you weigh yourself before surgery because they didn't weigh me. I had gained 10 lbs pre op between my 1st consult and surgery day (3 months) and they just go by my first weigh in. I think they said I lost 5 when in reality it was like 12 or something. Also, he didn't do a pre op diet for me which some people say sucks because they have to pump you with more CO2. I have to admit I had a ton of gas pain but if you move around a lot post op the gas pain will be gone after day 3. I relaxed day 1 and was up showering day 2 with the help of bf. Moved around some more on day 3. Any more questions feel free to pm me
  11. Mine was a chicken cheese flatbread panini. Took me awhile to eat it. I ate 1/2 at first and saved the rest for another day. It was a week post op. I did 1 week liquids then straight to solids. My dr told me as long as I took small bites and chewed well I would be okay. So far so good, 2 months out.

  13. I am a little over 2 months out -26 lbs. I feel good with my restriction however haven't encountered anything I can't eat. If I eat slow and chew well I can eat anything just not as much of it. Is this bad? I am sort of expecting to not be able to eat certain things but I'm not so sure I need another fill. I have somewhere in between 5.5 and 6cc. Any thoughts?

    Has anyone tried crossfit?

I'm still in the morbidly obese category as I was only banded 2 months ago. I'm -25 lbs so it's working slowly but surely. I am doing Pilates in school 2x a week but am thinking about trying crossfit in the summer because it's high intensity and I need someone yelling at me lol. I like that kind of workout style. I am just wondering if anyone has tried being SO overweight still and has been able to keep up.

Nothing I CAN'T eat yet... Is this bad?

Thank you! I hope I'm in the green! Only time and more weight loss will tell. I don't think I'll be truly convinced unless I lose a little more

    Has anyone tried crossfit?

How big were you when you started? I'm worried because I'm 225 and having a hard enough time with Pilates

Nothing I CAN'T eat yet... Is this bad?

Not sure if you read my whole post. I'm pretty restricted. Def not in bandster hell anymore. It's not that I KEEP eating. I eat very little and am not hungry often at all actually. It's just that everything seems to go down as it should (pretty much) I have had a few uncomfortable episodes but no stuck episodes

are your knees shot from crossfit or just from other things?

    Anyone around 23?

Turned 23 in December, my birthday present to myself was my band. I was banded Jan 23. Sorry it didn't work out for you these complications scare the crap out of me especially knowing they are very common! So far so good though. I just hit my first short term goal which I wanted to do -25 by the end of March. Hoping for -25 more by the end of July. Don't know we will see! The sleeve is very good. I know a few people at my work (hospital) who have it and have lost a ton of weight. It melts off because they physically can't eat as much. They don't have to mess around with bandster hell and adjustments. I am just too chicken about the fact that they cut 75-80% of your stomach off. One of the main reasons I am doing this is to become body ready for a baby in a few years. I had a son 1 1/2 years ago who was stillborn due to many complications which aren't necessarily attributed to weight but definitely didn't help the situation. I want to be able to have an unfill when I do become pregnant. Good luck!!

    First fill, no fill...

My doctor pokes around for a bit. I'm surprised your gave up after poking only twice. Mine poked about 5 or so times 2 days ago for my second fill. The first time he got it on the second try. Trust him though. Maybe there truly is too much inflammation. He IS the professional afterall.
  21. I had my 2nd fill today for a total of 5.5-6cc (dr said somewhere in between) I know I'm probably still a little swollen (that happens after a fill right?) but I am just curious what I would be looking for as far as being in the green. I assume it'll happen soonish since I'm a bit more than 1/2 way filled. Also, if you can please share what you are filled at (not that it truly matters since everyone is different, just curious). Thanks!!!
  22. I had a fill about 4 weeks ago and still feel ravenous. I have an appointment with my Dr Monday but I'm not sure if he is doing another fill or not. Is this too soon or is it adequate time?
  23. Wendydarling19

    Pretty discouraged

It doesn't make sense to have so little in your band. Ask the doctor why they are putting so little in. I had my surgery Jan 23rd and 4 weeks later I had my first fill at 3cc. I go Monday and hopefully getting another which is again 4 weeks later. My Dr. does move along quickly though so idk.

Hello! Awesome you live so close to me!! My doctor only gave me a week off because he is like speedy Gonzales. I had a rough time bending the first day or two because I'm a nursing assistant in the maternity unit and I still had some pain meds to get me through. I was fine well after 2 weeks. So far, I have lost about 20 lbs and its been almost two months. Haven't seen any weight loss in a few weeks though. I have an appointment Monday though and I'm hoping for another fill. I only have 3 CC's now but I feel hungry all of the time which kind of sucks : /
  25. I'm interesting in doing "Atkins" of sorts. I'm dying of sorts because I don't like to follow rules. I'm going to start low carbs, high proteins, moderate fat. This is sort of what is already recommended so idk why many ppl turn up their nose at "Atkins" IMO Atkins is not a "fad" since I know many people who have lost weight this way. I don't plan to follow rules to a T so I'm bit going to say I'm following this diet. My problem was always that when on this diet I was so hungry then last time after losing 15lbs I found out I was pregnant... Idk just looking for input
