  1. The option of "not sure yet" should have been included in the poll. I was banded July 28th and am only down 12+ lbs. My weight has been the same for the past week despite the fact that I am eating small, "bandster" sized portions, drinking water and walking. If I am following the rules and eating small portions, as if I have had fills then why am I not losing? It's frustrating ...
  2. I'm debating on whether to purchase a stationary bike or an elliptical trainer in order to get some exercise in while at home during the day with my kids. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback as to which would be more beneficial?

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hey Lucky #7's ... I had my surgery a week ago today. My doctor required that I do the clear liquids starting the day after surgery for 3 days then move onto full liquids for 2 weeks. Since starting the full liquids, my weight loss has slowed (almost to a standstill) and I don't know if I'm eating too much, too little, or not the right foods. For instance, yesterday morning I had an Unjury protein shake ... for lunch, I pureed a Campbell's soup at hand creamy tomato with 3/4 C cottage cheese and ate maybe half of it, then had the other half about 3 hours later ... for dinner I pureed some no fat refried beans with salsa and enchilada sauce, ate maybe 1 C of that. Total for the day on calories was around 800 and 60+ protein. I had thought maybe I was eating too much, but was told that I'm not getting enough calories in so I need to eat more?? Can someone, who is in the full liquid stage right now, give me a breakdown of what and how much they eat in a day? Thanks! :biggrin1:

    Bike or Elliptical Trainer?

    Maybe I should get both
  8. I started an evening walk routine 3 days after surgery ... that night I walked 2 miles (to my own amazement) and I've decided to make it a nightly ritual. 2 weeks prior to surgery I "attempted" to walk one night ... after 10 minutes my calves hurt and I could barely breathe (and had to turn around and go home) Now I walk 2 miles easily with no tiredness, no sore legs, no huffing & puffing. I am now looking for a way to get in exercise during the day too, trying to decide which workout machine to buy ...
  9. Since returning home from getting banded and being on liquids, my urine hasn't been a yellow, but more of an orange color. Is this due to the weight loss? Anyone know?

    Liquid Stage Recipes

Hey all ~ Today I start the full liquid stage and I have a question about the consistency. Should it be super runny such as the broth, or can it be thicker? I blended some oatmeal this morning and got it as "liquidy" as I could, but it was still a bit thick. I did the straw test and it worked, but it was sorta the consistency of a shake ... is this OK?

    Hello everyone!

I might see you Friday then ... I was told to be at the US border parking station @ 1:00. I live in SoCali and it's only a 2 hour drive or so down there.
  13. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow, Jenny ... I'm sure you'll do great!
  14. And here I thought it was just me! I too have last meal syndrome. Originally when I first scheduled my date, I thought to myself "OK, let's pig out and make sure to get in all the favorites before the surgery!" Then the better part of me told myself that this was a life changing procedure and should be started right then, not just after the surgery. So I completely cut soda out of my diet (had been my drink of choice for 17 years!) but I've adapted to being satisfied with water. I ate smaller portions and watched my calories ... did really good and lost 7 lbs! But this past weekend it hit me (literally slapped me on the head!) This was to be my last week of food freedom! I must EAT! So I treated myself to a 6" sub from Subway, and a bag of their jalapeno chips (gained back 2 lbs) then last night hubby said, "Hey let's have Taco Bell for dinner!" I could have turned him down ... but I didn't. Now I have 3 days to go until my surgery and I am craving all kinds of things, I want them and I want them NOW but trying to maintain some self-control :paranoid :biggrin1:

    July 30th

Hi Lindz! Congrats on your surgery this Monday! I myself am being banded this Saturday so I can't offer up too much after-care recommendations ... I will tell you though that I've tried different protein powders and the best tasting one for me was Unjury. Their chocolate powder mixed with a cup of nonfat milk tasted just like Nesquik ... no kidding! Their prices are reasonable and shipping is cheap! The site is Unjury.com. Best of luck to you in your upcoming journey!

    Hello everyone!

It is called Hospital Angeles ... brand new state of the art from what I've heard. If you haven't already heard about it, there is a Yahoo group for Dr. Kuri's patients which you can find HERE ... Alot of useful info, straight from his patients. What day are you flying down?

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hello all ~ I am new to this site as of today, wish I had discovered it alot sooner! My name is Dena and I am scheduled to have my surgery this coming Saturday, July 28th, with Dr. Kuri down in TJ, Mexico. I'm not so nervous about the procedure itself, but learning how to live with the band afterwards. I have little support here at home, my husband is against this because he is selfish, wants me to stay fat so he can feel secure in our relationship. I look forward to getting to know each of you and sharing our journey(s) together :biggrin1:
  19. Hello all ~ My name is Dena and I am scheduled to be banded this Saturday down in TJ Mexico, with Dr. Kuri. I've researched the Lap Band procedure for almost a year now and I am thrilled that it's finally happening! Unfortunately I don't have too much support here at home as my husband is 100% against me having this done. To put it bluntly, he wants me to stay fat so he can feel secure in our marriage. I'm not letting him get me down though, I'm doing this for myself, for my kids and most importantly for my health! I'd appreciate any and all tips, advice, especially in regards to the liquid & pureed stages. Thanks!
