I too had an excellent experience with Dr Kuri ... and like the previous poster said, join Dr Kuri's Yahoo group. There you can talk to many of Dr Kuri's patients. EVERYONE I have come across has had nothing but good to say about him ... and they were right! Best of luck to you!

Mexico...here I come!!!!! (I think!!)
BlooEyez replied to BlueEyedKitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are FLYING in & out of Mexico, a passport is required ... however, if you are traveling by car (or walking) across then you only need a valid form of ID ... but beginning in January 2008 we will be required to have a passport whether we fly, drive or walk across the border. I was banded by Dr Kuri in Tijuana ... it was a GREAT experience! The hospital is brand new, state-of-the-art. The cost was $7500. Lapbandsurgery.com is his site. I even went back down there a couple weeks ago for my first fill ... was back & forth across the border in an hour! -
I tried a few different brands before banding ... once I found Unjury I stopped sampling others. Unjury is so good! The chocolate tastes quite similar to chocolate milk. Unjury.com is the site

Does Anyone Ever Forget They Have The Band?
BlooEyez replied to Ryanband07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a brain fart yesterday, and yes forgot about my band. I was eating egg salad for lunch and at the time was pissed off about a rude comment someone made to me in regards to my weight ... so I was eating a bit fast and not chewing thoroughly. One swallow was a bit painful and thats when I snapped out of it and "remembered" my bandster rules -

I personally could care less about scars ... I just wanna be skinny :biggrin1: -
"Courtesy" parking for pregnant women and ones with children
BlooEyez replied to thebrick's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
The only place I've ever seen "pregnant parking" was at Babies R Us ... and of course the spots were always full and I never got to use them  But I agree with previous posters, you've obviously never been pregnant or have had to lug small children into stores. It's not as easy as you may think -
Mexico versus US for cash patients

This past Easter my inlaw's had taken my 2 youngest children to an Easter egg hunt. My 4 year old was attacked by a dog and ended up in the ER. So my husband and I rush down there and after they were done stapling my son's head back together *ouch* the doctor was making small talk with me (trying to calm me down as the stapling kinda freaked me out) so he's asking about my children and their ages. Then he says "And wow, another one in the oven!" :faint: I looked down at my stomach and said "Uhhhh NO!" He felt stupid (as he should) and I felt like total crap. At the time I had been doing the Weight Watchers points system and had lost 20 lbs, was feeling really good about myself! But after that and another rude comment made by my Monster-in-law a few days later, I gave up on everything because I didn't feel I was ever going to be good enough ... for anybody. I stopped doing the WW, figured what the hell I'll only live once so I might as well live and eat "normally" and ended up gaining back 7 of the 20 lbs lost. I really don't understand how people can be so STUPID. Think about what you say before you say it! Had I not received these insulting comments that hurt me so much who knows how much I could have lost by now. I didn't have the confidence in myself that I have now or else I would have kept on going. Being banded has given me SO MUCH confidence! Yeah I'm still a "big girl" and have a long way to get to my goal but I know I will succeed this time, and I could care less what anyone has to say about me now.

I only change my ticker if my weight has gone down. I have it set to only show the loss since my surgery. 16 lbs in 4+ weeks isn't that great ... but from my highest weight back in February, I've lost a total of 36 lbs :biggrin1:

Do you get used to OUNCES of food?
BlooEyez replied to michiganer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought this scale and absolutely love it. Yesterday for lunch I had 3 oz grilled chicken and 1/4 cup of cottage cheese ... doesn't seem like much, but it helps me to use very small bowls & plates because it gives off the appearance of having more food than there actually is, sorta like playing a trick on my mind ... that way when I'm finished, I'm convinced that I just ate a "whole" plate of food and don't need anymore. -

Did you have trouble losing after "graduating" to stage 3??
BlooEyez replied to SD Chick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 12 lbs in my first 12 days after surgery ... soon as I got to "soft foods" it has been a struggle, a fight to lose more. I too don't feel that I am over-eating, I am drinking the required amount of water and walking each evening as well. ANXIOUSLY awaiting my first fill -
For those of us who weigh in daily!!
BlooEyez replied to ragdollx19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm guilty of the daily weigh ... in the morning, after I pee, completely nekkid. If I step on the scale and don't like the numbers, I step off and call it a few names which isn't appropriate to post here then I step back on it hoping for a better number (believe it or not, sometimes it works) :rolleyes ............ but most of the time the scale hasn't been my friend as you can see in almost a month I've only lost 15+ lbs. I became so frustrated with it at one point, my family took it and hid it from me ... I ended up finding it in the garage a few days later, total coincidence as I wasn't looking for it ... really! :paranoid It's now back in my possession and they have no clue :heh: -
I love LC's meatloaf & whipped potatoes ... I also buy "Smart Ones" slow roasted turkey breast & their roast beef too. These are sometimes a bit pricey though so I've also tried "Michaelina's" Budget Gourmet, their meals are around a $1 each.

Dr Kuri Pre-Op diet??? Scheduled for 09/06/07 YEAH!!!
BlooEyez replied to JDinAZ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery with Dr Kuri last month and wasn't required to lose pre-op ... I do believe though that if your BMI is 45 or above, you will be required to do the "liver shrinking diet" ... if that's the case, they'll let you know. Best of luck to you! -
Where Did You Have Your Lap-band Done?

Poll: Are you glad you were banded?
BlooEyez replied to justwant2lose's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For Breakfast I have a Protein shake, then as a snack I have a string cheese. For lunch I have 1/2 can of soup (which equals about 1 cup) then as a snack another string cheese (or sometimes I'll have SF pudding instead) and then for dinner it's always something different ... last night I had 1 cup of cottage cheese mixed w/ salsa, tonight I made spaghetti for my family and had a little bit of it, definitely nowhere near the amount I would normally have had. Inbetween my meals I drink drink drink Water. I keep track of my daily intake on Fitday.com and I just ordered myself one of them fancy digital food scales too! So like I said, I eat very little and don't understand why the scale isn't moving. I was talking to my Mom about this earlier today, told her how frustrated I was with the darn scale so later this afternoon after my oldest son came home from school, she called and talked to him and told him to hide my scale! So now my scale is MIA and I can't weigh myself everyday anymore
