  1. Ok so I need some help!! I am about 3 1/2 weeks post op and am still having a lot of issues with Nausea!! I will go a few days of being just fine and then will wake up one morning (this morning for example) sick as a dog!! I will take Zofran and other anti-nausea meds but nothing, medicine wise, is helping!! Anyone have any tricks or ideas of things I could do/try to help?? My problem is is when I'm nauseated I do not want to eat or drink anything so I'm sure that makes it worse! So I need things that help get rid of it quick or something I could do regularly to keep from getting nauseated to begin with?!

    September Post Ops!

I had surgery on September 5th. Im almost back to full solids now so my diet may be a little different than yours at this stage... I dont have any specific things that im eating, as far as like recipes and stuff. I bean chili with no meat, im making the ricotta bake everyone raves about tonighy so we'll see how that tastes. Ive struggled with knowing exactly what to eat so I get in ruts from time to time.

    Tricks/Tips foe Nausea?

Just got home from Urgent Care. I was dehydrated but just the beginning stages. Blood work was good and stomach x-rays looked good, minus me being backed up (sorry I know, TMI). Does anyone know if we can take Miralax? The doctor I saw wants me to start taking it but she said to of course check with my surgeon first. They hooked me up to some fluids and gave me some Zofran through my IV as well. Feeling better now that I've had the fluids, not 100% better but definitely better! She told me to double up on my Zofran when I start to feel nauseous and to push fluids and get as much fluid as physically possible and not worry about getting my daily protein or any of that right now cause main focus is getting enough fluids...

    Tricks/Tips foe Nausea?

Yeah I'm at Urgent Care now. I just decided to go ahead and come in because my muscles in my legs and hands have been tingling and tightening up all day today. And my nausea has gotten worse again... Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully they can help me!

    Tricks/Tips foe Nausea?

Thank you Brojoe! Dehydration is something in worried about. I know I'm not getting enough fluids! I've been drinking non stop today but haven't eaten much. Just can't beat the nausea today.... If only I could drink normal amounts of water at a time I'd be better off! I'm keeping track of my symptoms and if I get much worse I may be taking a trip to the ER myself unfortunately! Glad to hear you are doing better and hopefully you stay that way!

    Tricks/Tips foe Nausea?

Why? Could it be a sign that something is wrong?
  10. OK so I had RNY 3 weeks ago and I'm doing just fine. I am wanting to get a new PCP now that I've had the surgery. I'm wanting someone that is familiar with bariatric surgery and what all I will be going through. I don't feel my current PCP is a good fit for me now that I've had RNY. My question is, what kind of PCP should I go to now? Is family practice ok or should I see general medicine, or internalist... I have no clue what kind of PCP would be the best choice... My surgeon gave me a few names of doctors he recommends but I'm not sure if they will be a good fit for me as most of them are older and I feel I won't be able to relate with them or connect with them... HELP PLEASE?? :-)

Yeah I'm truly trying to find protein I can tolerate! I think I may end up just getting the unflavored and start making smoothies all day long and just live on those for a while! Lol!! That's my biggest fear is my hair falling out!! My hair is already thin as it is I don't have any to spare! lol!! Plus I've got my cousin's wedding in about 5 weeks so I REALLY hope I don't start losing hair before the wedding! I'm the maid of honor so I gotta look good! Haha!! I'm glad to hear your hair grew back though, that gives me some hope if I do lose it!! You look great by the way!! Definitely is encouraging to see people's success through their pictures and stories!! :-)

Wow!! I could not ever imagine being 120 pounds! That is so awesome Karen!! Congrats!! Of course granted I'm tall and have a large bone structure so 120 is completely out of the question! Lol!! I set a goal of 185-190 just because I know that's a doable weight and I won't be discouraged if I cant get below that weight, I will gladly go lower if I can but I won't be upset with that weight! lol!! I'm doing really well with not cheating or having things I shouldn't have. I've had several opportunities to get ice cream or lick the icing off a cupcake or whatever but I just tell myself it's not worth it!! I haven't started exercising yet but I have been walking. I'm having some issues with some of my incisions so I can't do anything to strenuous for fear of making them worse! I look forward to being able to actually exercise though for sure!! My main struggle right now is figuring out things to eat during my puréed stage. I was able to start having fish yesterday but besides that everything else still has to be soft, mushy or puréed. I'm tired of eating the same things over and over! What were some of your go to dishes during that stage? Also I'm struggling with getting my protein! Every protein shake I have tried has made me gag! I cannot tolerate any of it! What brands did you try and like??

That's awesome to hear Karen! I am only 3 weeks post op right now but I am definitely looking forward to what is in store for me!! I just wish I could have regular food already! I'm driving myself crazy with this stupid puréed diet! Lol!!

Oh fun! I don't think I'd be brave enough to go through surgery again! Lol! That's why I just went with the RNY from the get go, plus I had more weight to lose than what the lap band could have helped me with!
  15. I liked the AdvantEdge before my surgery, I would drink the chocolate fudge. But after surgery I have tried to drink them on several different occasions and I just cannot handle the taste whatsoever!! Plus before surgery I could chug things so I would drink my protein shakes very fast to get it over with. That is not the case now! I'm actually having a problem with getting my protein everyday cause I have yet to find one I can tolerate!

    September Post Ops!

I have had the Unjury shakes before. I agree it tastes like Chocolate Milk but not as sweet. I have not tried that brand since my surgery, I just had samples, so I am unsure if I will still like the taste or not. I will have to see if I can get some more samples!

Oh and there is also a group on Facebook called "RNY in your 20s and 30s". It's a pretty good little group to just talk to people and ask questions and what not as well...

Yeah I was happy I stumbled across the age sections. I mean talking to anyone that has had the surgery is helpful don't get me wrong but being able to talk to people in their 20s, I'm 27 so barely in my 20s lol!!, makes things easier because they can relate more and understand more. So M.A. Cruz have you had surgery at all yet or are you still waiting?

    September Post Ops!

Yeah I was wondering about ensure and boost! I will have to get some and try it and see if I can tolerate it! If only I could still chug everything I'd be just fine! lol!!!

Good Luck!!! I'm only 3 weeks out so I can't say much but my recovery went pretty smoothly for the most part! Only thing I struggled with was nausea and occasional discomfort! :-)

    September Post Ops!

Thank you Shine! Yes I too liked the AdvantEdge shakes before surgery but now they do not agree with me at all! My main problem is that before surgery I could just chug the protein shake and get it over with! Now I can't do that so the taste gets to me! Lol!! I will have to look into the brands that you mentioned and see if I can get some samples and try them out! Hope your having a great day! :-)

Hey what's up everyone!! I'm new to this whole forum thing but figured I'd give it a shot! It's nice to have threads with people my age talking about their surgery and progress!! I'm 3 weeks Post-Op, had surgery 9/5/13, and am already down 30 pounds. I'm down 45 pounds total from my waviest though. Definitely looking forward to what is to come as I lose my weight and begin to live a healthier life! Hope everyone is well and hope to talk to and meet new people as I don't really have anyone close to me that has ever struggled with obesity and weight loss so no one really understands! Feel free to message me on here or find me on Facebook (I'm not really mentioning anything about my surgery on FB as of right now though)!

    September Post Ops!

Hello everyone! This is my first post on here and I figured I'd start by posting in this thread first as I am also a September Post-Op! I had my surgery 9/5/13 so I am about 3 weeks post op now. I have already lost 30 pounds since surgery but have not weighed this week to see if I have lost any more yet. Recovery has been easy for the most part but I've had my ups and downs. My main struggle has been with nausea (any tips or tricks to help it is greatly welcomed! Lol!). Another struggle I have been having is getting my fluids and Protein in every day! I have yet to find a Protein shake that I can tolerate! The only "protein shake" I have tried that I can handle is the Body by Vi shakes. They are 12 grams of Protein and with a Cup of 1% Milk that adds another 9 grams so 22 grams per serving. I know these shakes probably aren't the best option but it's all I can handle! What kind of Protein Shakes does everyone drink and/or like?? I'm happy to find this forum so I can connect with fellow "losers" and finally feel like I can talk to people that understand!! :-) Start Weight: 425 lbs, Surgery Weight: 410 lbs, Current Weight: 380 lbs.
