Mrs. Reid, I hear you. Exact same here. Loss of appetite and more weight loss. I hope it continues! Here's to the new normal!

Congratulations! :-)

@@joatsaint, like the meme!
I'm not sure if I'm in a rut. I'm just not connecting to food at all right now. I can't think of things I actually want to eat right now.
I'm definitely in the low-fat Greek yogurt and fruit for Breakfast rut, though.

@@goodnuff, you're welcome. I'd been hearing that docs were making pouches bigger than previously to help with complications for which I am grateful no doubt, but I wanted to see numbers closer to my cohort and I just wasn't until now. I have not changed exercising, but what did happen with the loss of appetite was that I stopped snacking COMPLETELY. I know a lot of folks on here abide by snacking, and coolers and having all kinds of food on hand but for someone with a tendency to overeat, it just triggers grazing which is a bad habit to break and always comes with some sort of unnecessary justification. I think that made the difference for me actually allowing myself to get lost in something and feeling hunger. It takes awhile but it can happen.

I am exactly 6 months out from surgery (RNY). My weight loss until recently has moved along at comfortable glacial place LOL, like 1-3 pounds per week (If I was lucky) and there many weeks when I didn't loose at all. I did not feel much restriction either. I could eat an entire plate of food, no problem. My friend who had had the surgery 3-4 years ago said just wait, the weight loss is coming. I was expecting the 1st 6 months to be fast, but now I'm in a rapid weight loss pattern. I lost 6 pounds last week and 7.5 this week. Anyone experience more rapid weight loss after the 6 month mark?

Hey @@justmona and @@Eli Alexander, you all may consider looking at the Washington State Bariatrics Facebook Page to find others in your area.

I'd watch the cumulative sugar content and stay within your guidelines, but why not?

Hey welcome to the site,- It's a great place to pick up ideas and encouragement. Arthritis (I'm assuming osteo) is an inflammatory condition and can be exacerbated by inflammatory foods. Good thing you are motivated to change your diet. I have a degenerative arthritic condition, it got better with weight loss but sticking to a low carb, low sugar diet helps tremendously. I can nite walk down stairs easily one at a find time without turning sideways and taking them one by one. Good Luck to you, hope you get to the appointment soon.

Girl. You look AMAZING! I remember and to think you were thinking of not going through with the surgery!!
Congratulations!

Maybe rompers with ties and cute sandals. They are roomier and because of the ties it gives you room to keep shrinking over the summer...

I don't hide the surgery per se. I just told the people I wanted to know. I've have a lot of experience with weight loss and choose not to divulge actual numbers. That, for me, can get embarrassing. Like how did I let myself get THAT big?? Its really noone's business....

I, too have not experienced dumping. I had had 1 alcoholic drink with tonic. I have had a few bites of coconut cream pie and 2 Oreos in 14 weeks. That alone is a miracle! I wanted it to make so sick and it didn't. After the 3rd bite of the pie, my stomach just made it clear it had had enough. I knew that going any further down that path would lead to nothing good. I think that is the surgery working, providing gentle reminder not to push it. I think that is worth the price I paid for surgery....

Welcome!
Keep searching the forums. You will find the answer to this question and many more.
But this one in particular has gone around and around.
I chose Roux en Y or gastric bypass because it made the most sense for me and my situation. I had 100+ pounds to loose. I wanted more long term data. I wanted better chance of complete resolution of my specific co-morbities and I wanted the procedure that most bariatric surgeons feel comfortable fixing complications with because they have been doing the bypass longer. I think you and your doctor can make a decision that you can be confident with. Either of them work really well. And you can achieve success.

I spend more time on social media outlets like the face space, Pinterest, Houzz, Instagram....If it keeps from eating I'm cool...for now. I'm reading more, too, so that's nice.

You made me spit out my coffee, decorating a gourd!!!! Bwhahaha! Oh my, I hear you though. I'm painting my nails and grooming my eyebrows. I even became a consultant for a skin care company! Stuff I NEVER would have dreamed of before. I was all about sensible shoes and clothing!

Needed this one today! I'm going into my 3 month post-op appointment on Monday and I'm feeling a little nervous. I don't want to compare myself with others (that is a rookie move that will leave me feeling horrible) but I'm not a super-satisfied with my progress. And that is for me to change and no one else. There are things I could be more diligent about - like Water consumption. I hate it and I know there have been several days where I just don't drink any. Like none. Really. My Protein consumption is not up to the 80g everyday. I used to be religious and now I'm like eh. These are all things I have the power to change. Imagine how pissed I would be if my success was determined by someone else?? I'd be knocking that person around saying chop chop whats the hold-up?! Point being... I'm not giving up!

Congratulations! First of all. I had the bypass and I was back to work in 2 weeks. I would say if possible stay as long as you can in the hospital and let them manage your post-op pain and see that you can tolerate your new diet. I stayed in the hospital 3 nights and 4.5 days. I napped a lot when I got home. I did not do a lot of chores. But I was absolutely fine going back to work then." A" game and all. For about a month, I would get home, see about my kids and then I was in bed at about 8:00pm. Just imagine how on your A game you will be when that weight starts dropping!! Your new employer will see your confidence at its highest! Good luck to you!

@@CindyWinFlorida, I say go in proud of your accomplishments. I think my body was just slow adjusting to the procedure. Everyone's body is different. Keep up the good work!
