  1. There was a chef in my support group at the hospital where I had the surgery. She was down 70-80 pounds and was very happy with her sleeve. She said that she still fussed over food, needed it to be perfect etc etc. She said that it just helped her not consume so much food in the volumes she previously could and she loves exploring her other hobbies outside of food. I'm definitely a foodie. I know I chose bypass because I wanted a greater chance of resolution of pre-diabetes and high blood pressure. I've also heard people generalize the surgeries into 2 camps. Sleeve for overeater's and bypass for folks with metabolic issues. I can truly say that at 38 I was ready to give up my illustrious affair with sugar and I wanted the surgery that would best aid me in that resolution. Ultimately its up to you and your soon-to-be surgeon. Congratulations, welcome and good luck!

    FIRST MAJOR NSV!

My blood pressure was normal last Friday 120/80 without medications. I've never seen a number so low. So happy!!! I'd go through this over and over again to achieve this result!

The Rules: Do you follow them?

I'm so new, rules are easy to follow....and some were never gonna work. Stuff I do: + Eat Protein first, 82g is my goal + 30 minutes for liquids on either side of a meal + No grazing + Take 30 mins to eat + No carbonation + eat watching TV 2-3 x/week But I use a timer, it works great + Drink caffeine, I'm in Seattle and no doc was gonna try that! + I chew my food until it s a pulp. Had foamies twice, never again! + I'm not getting enough Water :-( + I drink with straws + I track my food everyday + I don't weigh my food except I do measure condiments dressings, mayo, etc. it's actually a trigger. I weighed my food everyday for 3 years previously. I have a well trained eye for portions. But when I weigh and measure food I get a since of entitlement like I can eat it all, it's mine. And I'm likely to eat it all, rather than toss if full. I was in the denial that I could actually overeat weighed and measured food. It's weird.

    Non-Morphine Pain Meds....concerns

I've never taken narcotics and was afraid. Got some drug addicts in my family tree. Let me take that back. I have taken Adderal for ADD treatment in the past-never felt addicted. I think you have to view it as medicine. I had dilaudid in PCA and honestly it was helpful. I had some real pain after surgery. I did not think it was addicting and it didn't make me loopy. These drugs are so different than street drugs. They were effective and went straight toward pain. They could have been more effective if they didn't make me so sleepy so that I could have stayed on top of pain. The pump delivers such a tiny amount of the drug, addiction would be odd unless you've have issues in the past. You can press the pump every 8 minutes so it's a dose divided significantly. I needed it to stand, get out of bed etc. I was sent home with oral oxycodone and took one.

Keep up the good work! You are almost there!
  8. Would you eat after dinner if you weren't hungry but hadn't met your protein goal? I'm a month out and for some reason I'm like 25g under my average. Oh well, in too tired to go to the kitchen. So that settles that! Lol

    Thunder thighs.

My mother has the deposits, her insurance would pay for their removal and she refused. I have huge thighs but no hips to speak of or butt. When I lost 140# about 10 years ago, I was definitely considering plastic surgery. My thighs deflated like balloons. This time around, I will be getting a thigh lift and a breast lift and augmentation. No question.

    Am I getting protein?

The Dannon yogurt has 12g protein and the fage has 18g. Can't beat that!

    Am I getting protein?

At 3 weeks, you are still fairly limited. What helped me, was adding fage nonfat Greek to a smoothie with Protein powder. It takes a while to get it down. Sometimes the powder was unflavored and I would add a fourth cup of fruit. What the yogurt did was add protein and give it some bitterness so it wasn't all sweet. Also, try making egg drop Soup with the soft poached eggs and I would add unjury chicken flavored protein to this. Again avoiding sweet tastes. I also made healthy chowder Soups with strained corn and shrimp and added enriched milk powder to this. I could tolerate string cheese. I also love Dannon Fit and Lite. Flavors are delish. Toasted coconut and vanilla and strawberry shortcake are the best. I do those for Breakfast. You can also look up recipe for ricotta bake. Topped with pesto. Premier Protein shakes are good. By the end of the day, when I could actually tolerate sweets, I would mix chocolate or unflavored protein in sugar free Jello. At three weeks, I was averaging 80-85g protein. Some days, I would accidentally hit 100. I eat very slowly and have not had much in the way of nausea or vomiting.

    Bilatoral medial thigh lift

Thanks @@JamieLogical and @@AvaFern! I would not know what to do with myself if my boobies were perky!!! I'd haveta be dragged from the mirror! Or if my inner thighs didn't resemble cottage cheese for that matter...That's what they looked like before when I lost weight. Thigh and boobie plastic surgery for me!
  24. When were you cleared to do exercise other than walking??? I'm a month out and my doc said another **MONTH** before I could do classes...I forgot ask about Water exercises. That's probably OK. But I'm feeling good and ready to hit it....
