  1. Road Queen, I've told everybody...I find it easier that way....besides when I lose all my weight, I want everyone to know how I did it...for the others who are struggling..
  2. You must have had a master artist...my port incision is about 3 or 4 inches long...I wasn't bummed until now......
  3. Can someone tell me the doctors doing this surgery in Oklahoma... My younger brother is in serious need of this or the other surgery but unfortunately isn't good about finding things out for himself...comes from being the baby of the family I guess... Anyway, I'm trying to get information for him.... Thanks
  4. Hi, The swelling I had, felt like I was pregnant..but it should pass, I'm still a little swollen, but it's getting better all the time. The nausea, I didn't have...if the nausea doesn't pass I'd call your doctor...they have meds for that and you don't want to get dehydrated.

Since my job involves watching movies, I get to see a lot of them...generally a several months to a year after they've come out in the US.....Fun but because of it I rarely watch any at home anymore and I used to LOVE that....
  6. Hey Girl, i was thinking about you...glad to see all went well...I KNOW...I couldn't believe I weighed more AFTER the surgery than before...figured that thing must weigh a ton! Seriously, you are exactly right, it's Fluid..lots of swelling....keep moving but take it easy! Deb
  7. Since yesterday That (muscle) pain is better....pretty much gone but now my port area is acting weird...well I see the doc today...I'll ask him about it....
  8. Hi Sheri, I'm a few days ahead of you and I feel strange on my left side too...I also feel like theres a restriction running across my chest where the bra line is. Weird feelings but I'm just chalking them up to the whole thing.....I don't think I have to worry because the port and tubing doesn't really do anything until you need a fill....but they are alien items...
  9. I think I've figured out a solution for the email notifications and the log on ... I've been staying logged on and haven't had any problems with getting lost and now I'm getting email notifications...
  10. Sorry Vinesqueen, I'm having trouble keeping up with my postings! Yeah, i had to sneeze last week and in trying to protect my incisions I somehow, tore/strained a muscle..when I sneezed the pain ran diagonally down my right side to my naval and I had the most painful, burning sensation I have ever experienced...which is why I think it tore...better now though...only get the burning sensation every once in a while...
  11. I'm doing very well....counting the days until I can have mushy food! Almost back to normal with sleeping...have a couple of stitches for the doc to take and then I will be great.... Still nursing the torn muscle I got when I sneezed last week...pain comes and goes but otherwise...GREAT!
  12. Own: 2 - both Harley 883 Huggers - I was going to move to the Fat Boy but my loving Hubby bought me an anniversary model and I don't have the heart to sell it and upgrade....He has two Road Kings.... Gear - Yes, always wear gear-except gloves, sometimes I don't wear them Safety Class - Yes and highly recommend the basic and intermediate. Accident - No and pray everyday I never do... I got my first bike 5 years ago, up until that time I was not aware they could be lowered the rest is history.....I don't get to ride much here except to work and around the compound...hopefully soon to change...getting a trailer to trailer the bikes to a country that allows women to drive.
  13. Haven't flown yet but doesn't appear to be a problem...Yeah summer sucks...it's so hot.. I take liquid Vitamins but you should definitely ask your doctor...
  14. Thank you ladies, that's hopeful...wouldn't you know it, I get something that HAS to be monitored and he gets a nibble...still just a nibble but you can imagine my secret panick! He hates his boss here...suffice it to say that after 11+ years and all the stuff that's happened there are less expats here which means having an idiot for a boss is much harder to deal with so I'm encouraging him but secretly scared I won't be able to find medical support....however, according to the Canadian band site, they use all three there so....possibilities do exsist! Yipee! Road Queen, not to worry, it probably won't happen and we'll be here for the next three years, the job is written for him so you know what happens with those. What do you ride? I have an 883...I'm thinking of moving to the Fat Boy... BTW, if you like Rally's there's going to be a Middle East Rally in November in Oman...beautiful country...
  15. Babs, I know what you mean...I have to stop thinking of exercise being a four letter word! I'm hoping that as i lose weight it will get easier therefore more enjoyable.... i did something tonight I've NEVER done in my life....i chewed up food and spit it out! Now, there really is a reason for this....I seem to have developed an insatiable interest in cooking....go figure...but since I can't eat anything yet, it seems sort of stupid..but, I decided to fix my hubby a nice meal anyway..well you know how you taste everything? Knowing I couldn't swallow it, I came up with that idea...worked pretty good, afterall, the mouth is where the taste buds are? Weird thing was, i didn't really get upset about having to spit it out.....could there be hope?

  18. happens to me quite often...maybe it's my end.....no biggie really, can always do a quick copy before i hit submit....
  19. That settles it then...I knew I had read something somewhere...as much surfing as I do it gets jumbled.... Thanks for the confirmation...I really hate losing the Aleve...it did such a good job.....
  20. I don't know which family you mean but my mom takes the cake! I was originally scheduled for the 5th of April and I checked in and ended up getting a fever and had to go home...SO disappointed! Called my mom to tell her so she wouldn't worry and she said "good, I was praying you wouldn't get it done"! Talk about psyching someone out...I'm not particularly religious but the fact that she would do that annoyed me, So, I rescheduled and didn't tell her about it until after! I have been researching it for about the same time...wonder if that's the going time table.... Did you ask your surgeon how many he's done? That can be very reassuring, it was for me.... Inshallah, we are scheduled to leave the 7th of June....last two years we've had to reschedule for one reason or another with his job....you?
  21. Hi Everyone, While searching I found this woman's website...I think it's exceptional for information..especially for us newbies....you might already know about it....but here it is anyway... http://www.kimswlsjourney.com/4436.html BTW, I was trying to find out if there were medications we can't take like Aleve, I thought I read that somewhere....does anyone know?
  22. Babs, While doing some research I ran across this from Donali maybe it will help:
  23. Hi Desert Mom, I am in Saudi and just got banded a week ago. Valid concerns all and unfortunately, there is a risk. But, for me the risk was worth the possible success. And good or bad they sure move fast in this part of the world.... I know EXACTLY what you mean here, it's been the same for me except the traveling part, I still did and do that, but as my weight was going up it was getting harder....the last trip we took home I noticed that the seat belt was at the end.... Have you done a lot of research? I found this to be REALLY helpful. Please let me know if I can help you in any way.
  24. My husband was and is very supportive, he's been through EVERY diet attempt I've done and that's a lot of attempts in 33 years. He was concerned and I'd have been upset if he hadn't been...after all, it IS surgery. I did have to recognize his concern(s) and give it the consideration it deserved afterall, when you are part of a couple, you should consider each others views. It did help to know that the mortality rate for this one is like 1 in 10,000 and the rate for the more drastic one is 1 in 200 or 300...BIG difference.
