You are very strong to over come the stresses of your past.
I was always overweight my self from childhood on. I didn't have a hard time at home but outside the home by being teased horribly as I was growing up and took comfort in food.
Back in 2006 I quit a medication I was taking cold turkey and ended up in the hospital for three weeks and during that time I did die and was revived. I also weighed 350 lbs and you would think I would get the message to take care of myself but I didn't. That didn't happen until last year and I finally took the step to get healthy and I am now for the most part.
I am so glad you told your story of strength and how you forged ahead to take care of yourself and to live life to the fullest.
I am too enjoying my life much more these days.
    Thank you for your words.

Chelly got a reaction from pik in How about your jewelry (rings) after surgery?
    Pik,
Speed balls can be very uncomfortable if made to big.
My engagement ring and wedding band are so big that I can't wear them.
I don't plan on resizing my engagement ring until I'm well into maintaining my weight. Maybe a year from now I might.
Like you said you going to wait until next year to have it resized and I think that's the smart thing to do.
You could always get a temporary ring that's adjustable in the band and wear that.
Whatever you do be happy and feel good.

I would have your blood sugar levels checked because if they are to low that can cause dizziness and the feeling that you are going to pass out.
Ask your surgeon for anti nausea pills and see if those help you calm things own so you can drink fluids and Protein better.
    Please take care.
I know you had a real bumpy road so far and you are really discouraged but just take each day slow and easy it's bound to get smoother.
    Be well.

I do the exercise bicycle for 40 minutes on level 7 and do roughly 8.50 miles.

I do plan on getting a trainer to show me some more exercises that won't hurt myself with because I have fibromylgia, arthritis, RSD and stenosis of the spine. I have to be very careful of what I do and need guidance.

I need to tone up my body as best I can.

So far only have done the bicycle and every couple of weeks I up the level to get more resistance.

Have a good workout and feel good.

I have to eat every two hours to keep my blood sugar up or I get very weak and majorly dizzy also other symptoms.
I eat nuts, Quest bars, soy Protein chips, egg white chips, cheese and I really try to stay with Protein but if it dips to low my blood levels then I have to eat something with sugar in it or I have to potential of passing out.
I love PB2 in the regular or chocolate. I add it to shakes. Target carries it in their Peanut Butter isle.

Wow! Great topic. This was one of the issues I had to learn to deal with during my weight loss journey. When I was heavy, I found myself to be the one who everyone was friends with, the one who had great hair....but nothing more. Once the weight came off....boy was I thrown off guard.
It was hard for me to accept compliments. Especially when someone told me I looked good, or when the first time I was told I was skinny....(I had to learn to say thank you, as I was not use to receiving compliments).
Now for the men situation, this was a definite difficult phase. I had my guard up all the times, simply because I could not accept that for once there would be a man that found me attractive. But I can tell you this, as I lost the weight my confidence in doing more social activities changed. I found myself being a participant in life, versus being the window shopper.
There were a few moments that I specifically recall when I began to realize I just might be attractive to men....one was a time when I was shopping, a guy followed me around every isle I was in (mind you I was clothes shopping!). He even approached me and told me how nice I looked (personally that moment scared me a bit, the guy was a bit of a creeper...thank goodness I am prepared for the weirdos). And another time was when a guy working at my neighbors house made a comment...basically telling me that I was "hot"! For me being told that I was "hot", unless I had burned myself, I had never heard this before.
So bottom line, its all a process. You are finally becoming the person on the outside that you already are on the inside. Its going to be a gradual process. I did lose friends....and I had some negative comments...but overall It was a big learning process. I just started to live My real life, My new life....and learned to "try" and enjoy and accept these new compliments.
No real great advice...more of just how I muddled through all of the changes. What was personally great, was before I lost weight I truly never thought I would ever get married, I even told my dad that I was willing to settle for someone half as good as him just because I really figured I would be alone. In a way, I was preparing myself and my parents to not expect a wedding in their future and/or grandchildren. Well, after losing the weight I did meet my husband, later adopting his daughter too!
My life has changed tremendously! I had my surgery 10 yrs ago, so its been one heck of a journey too.
Wish you all the best and many successes to come!

Chelly got a reaction from Alex Brecher in Tasty but complete multi vitamin
My surgeon and nutritionist have me take children's Flinestones complete chewable vitamins.< /p>
I take two with a meal.
They have Iron in them that is easier to digest.
I buy them at costco because that's the best deal but you can find them at Target, Walmart or any pharmacy.
Also Celebrate Vitamins has chewable multi Vitamin, they also have calcium citrate chewables and soft chews (I use these). They have B12 that I use.
    These are just suggestions.

    Dannysgirl,
You WILL lose weight but after that initial period (typically 12-18 months) it is then up to you to maintain that loss. Educate yourself, read books, attend support group meetings, read online (just stick to credible sites), and work with a WLS nutritionist. You can do it just know what you're in for. It isn't a magic fix, it's a jump start and a tool that you will have to learn to utilize. My biggest fear going into this was that it wouldn't "click" for me, that I wouldn't understand how to use the new pouch. I'm only four weeks post op and it is coming to me so much more naturally than I thought it would!
    You can do this!

You'll do great I'm sure of it as long as you give it your all.
This is such a great start to a new wonderful healthy life so grab it and run with it.

I would not start anything without consulting with them.
