I wish you all the luck in the world to obtain your wish for your next birthday.
I made it to goal for my birthday this year and am very happy because I can shop almost any where I want.
To be honest I kinda went overboard on buying clothes for myself but hey I figure I have no intentions of changing my size so I look at it as an investment. LOL
Once again the very best to you with your upcoming surgery and here's to a healthier and happier you..

    I love them.
I eat them all the time to get in my Protein.< /strong>
They help keep me on the straight and narrow.
I have tried almost everyone and have enjoyed them all except one.
They are also approved by my nutritionist so that's an added bonus to know.

I have always had candy in the house since surgery for my husband and I haven't touched it or even been tempted to touch it and I'm a sugar person.
I have my sugar free fudgeicles, sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding, Quest bars, Detour simple Protein Bars or fruit and that satisfies me perfectly when I want something.
So I'm not worried about Halloween or any other holiday that includes sweets.

Chelly got a reaction from Jorrin in Hair loss after Surgery
I have very fine hair to start with and I did loose some hair from the shock of surgery to the system.
I take Biotin in chewable form every day and have not noticed other Hair growth in odd places.
I get in plenty of Protein every day but of course I'm 13 months post op.
I made sure I ate my protein so I would heal properly and also to help maintain as much hair as possible.
You also can loose hair from an imbalance in your hormones which was a problem for me and that wasn't from the surgery.
    Good luck and best wishes.

I have both arthritis and fibromyalgia and all I take is Tylenol.
There is no pain med that you can take for it.
You might ask for Linoderm Patches from your doctor. They might help relieve some of the pain. You wear them 12 hours on 12 hours off.
You can try going to a pain specialist if you can to help you. You must tell them all medical history and what meds you are taking so you have no problems with your anti despressants and your bypass.
I can very much relate to you on this subject and wish you less pain.
One other thing. Believe it or not but exercise helps with managing the pain. Even if you walk or go to Water exercises. Any exercise is better then none. Also stretching helps too.

Chelly got a reaction from Lkk0158 in Reasons surgeon says sleeve or bypass
I originally was going to have the sleeve but because of type II diabetes and GERDS I went with bypass.
My gastric doctor was the person who really helped make my decision based on the curing of the GERDS to have the bypass.
With the type II diabetes I stopped taking meds for it the day of surgery and there was no turning back to them.
My other problems like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and other things went away quickly.
I no longer use CPAP for the last six months at least.
I am glad I went with the bypass because it worked fine for me.
To make your decision go by what health issues you have and study how the sleeve will help them and how the bypass will help them.
I know it's a big decision and maybe your surgeon office has informational videos to watch to see the difference. My surgeon's office did and they helped.
Go to search engines for both surgeries and read up about them as much as you can.
Good luck with your decision for both in their own way will bring you to a healthier you.

Chelly got a reaction from tamg26k in Question for vets that are 6 months post op
IMO you should stay with keeping your appointments for at least the first year.
Your PCP is not an expert on gastric bypass and the workings of it probably.
There are certain tests that have to be done for you everything three months up to the first year and then every year after that to make sure you are getting the proper nutrition.
You also should be seeing a nutritionist every three months for checkups too for the first year and the once every year after that.
This is pretty standard schedule that most patients that I know of follow.
You're doing fabulous and I wish you continued success.

You could make a complaint to the practice manager and if its affliated with a hospital, I would talk to someone in patient relations. Specifically, from the practice manager I would want to know what the standard of turn-around time you should expect from her (the mean paper-pusher). And report her attitude. You are a paying customer and there are other places that would happily compete for your dollars!! You could go to patient relations. Ask how are they prepared to offer you something in the way of service recovery for being inconvenienced and disrespected? Free parking, a private room (one can always hope)....etc etc... And most importantly let the surgeon know about your experience... Your surgeon pays her salary and would be highly displeased to get a complaint. You can decide how far you want to take it and what its worth to you but all those are reasonable options.
I do the job of the woman you referenced at another facility and state and when a person calls on something I was supposed to do, I am all about the apology, explanations and their paperwork moves to the top of the pile.
Healthcare is changing, the place where you are going ain't the only show in town....

There is no way I would want to be big again.
I have sagging places all over yet I look good in clothes.
I'm happy that I'm here and able to do things that I was unable to do before.
My body is my body and I will exercise to help keep it fit but if I don't loose this sagging oh well.
I tell you a story I once died because of an error I made in quiting a medication cold turkey and I am lucky that I'm here to talk to you.
So be grateful for everyday and that you are loved no matter what.
The things you talk about can be fixed by changing some things in your eating and others don't add up to a hill of Beans if you are loved by family unconditionally.
Maybe you should talk to a therapist about your self image it might help.
May you find peace and happiness.
    Good luck.

I would call the insurance company to make sure that the surgeons office actually sent in your paper work and where you stand on this with them.
I would call your email the office manager and tell them exactly what is going on with this situation and how poorly you are being treated.
In the worst case you could change surgeons and see if your insurance company would make you start all over again or if you can transfer your information to a new surgeon.
You don't have to put up with this and don't because they are playing with your life decision.
Best of luck in getting some answers.

For at least a month after surgery.
I suggest you call the surgeons office and ask what they feel since they have seen how your incisions are healing. They are the best judge for this. I can only go by what I was told.
    Take care.

Call your nutritionist and ask what Protein drinks you are allowed before surgery.

Each surgeon's office and nutritionist office has different opinions of what to use around the country.

When it comes to Protein bars the only ones my nutritionist allows is Pure Protein Bars or Quest Bars.

Ask your nutritionist about Premier Protein Drinks that you can get at costco, Walmart or Sam's Club if those meet their requirements.

Do not not eat that's the worse thing you can do.

Start acting like you already had the surgery and drink your Water, get in all your protein, eat slowly, eliminate all sugars except natural ones you get in fruit. Cut down on carbs. If you must have something sweet have sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding or sugar free popsicles.

These are just a few suggestions.

Most important is to get a food plan from the nutritionist.

Good luck in your journey to a healthier you.

I use a few things to help me with my sweet tooth.
Quest Bars which are made with Stevia, come in lots of flavors and taste really good. They have 20g or 21g of Protein and my nutritionist says they are a good choice.
    sugar free Bomb Pops Popsicles.
    Sugar Free pudding.
I add things to my Protein shakes like fruit, PB2 Peanut Butter powder, PB2 chocolate Peanut Butter powder, or Torani sugar free syrups that come in a multitude of flavors. The PB2 will add extra Protein to your shakes also.
So as you can she that I'm one year out and I have been successful using these to help out.
    Good luck.

First don't take any laxative without asking your surgeon first.
Second you are only taking in liquids so like they told you don't worry about having a bowel movement it will happen.
If you are feeling discomfort from not going then you should talk to the surgeon's office right away and they will advise you of what to do.
Just relax and remember you just had major surgery and your body is adjusting. It takes time.
Feel good and good luck on your journey to a healthier you.

Chelly got a reaction from UrCaliGirl in RNY tomorrow. ..any last minute advice
The first day in the hospital just went so quickly.
I'm a little foggy about that day to be honest because of the first 24 hrs of pain meds they give you.
As soon as I was allowed to get out of bed I did and I walked around the hospital floor several times each day I was in the hospital. I went to the bathroom myself without having someone help me.
I didn't shower though until I got home with anti bacterial soap for the duration until my incisions closed all the way and the steri strips fell off. I would say the first month maybe I did this just to be safe.
I say the first stages went easy for me. I drank my Water, had sugar free popsicles, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup to be able to get Protein in and my Protein shakes that I made. When I could eat pureed fruits, veggies and meats I was allowed to use baby food also I used baby oatmeal. Check with your nutritionist if this is okay or just puree your own.
Campbell's creamed Soups are good the low fat ones but they have to be strained and pureed for you to ingest.
For Protein Shakes I used and still do Jay Robb whey Protein. I use PB2 Peanut Butter powder or PB2 chocolate Peanut Butter powder to add flavor and some extra protein. Ask your nutritionist if this is okay to use in the early stages.
I also use Torani sugar free syrups in my shakes to add flavors. They come in a multitude of different flavors. Ask your nutritionist if these are okay to use in the early stages.
These are just a few thoughts I have and you can go with them or not.
Best of luck to you on your new journey to a healthier life.
P.S. Unjury has a sample pack of their products that is great and you can get a sample pack from Jay Robb too.

    Hi,
Well may I suggest Egg White Protein powder from Jay Robb. It packs in 25g of Protein in each scoop.
I suggest Quest Bars that have 20 or 21 grams of protein in each bar but check with your nutritionist if it's okay for you to have them at this stage.
Almond milk is an alternative to using regular milk but get the sugar free and again check with your nutritionist about using this.
Soy milk again is an alternative to using regular milk but check with your nutritionist about using it.
To add a little interest in your shakes you could use sugar free Torani syrups that come in a multitude of flavors.
You could use PB2 in your shakes. It adds some additional protein and it's yummy. It comes in Peanut Butter powder or in chocolate Peanut Butter powder. You find at Target, Walmart, grocery stores.
These are just a few suggestions.
Good luck and best wishes on your journey to a healthier you.

Welcome to the beginning of a new wonderful journey.
I am one year out from surgery and I no longer have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, problems holding my bladder.
I only have three meds left and those are for depression and I'm slowly going down on those too.
I feel great and I've never been in shape like this before.
I think I know weigh what I weighed in Jr. High.
I was also overweight or obese until now.
I have fibromyalgia, osteo arthritis, stenosis of the spine, and RSD. All have improved due to the surgery. I now have an easier time coping with them.
You IMO will be very pleased with yourself as you get into your journey.
Good luck with your surgery and welcome to a healthier life.

I am as of today one year out and want to tell you it does get easier.
There are meds to help with the nausea and you should ask your surgeon if you can have them.
I feel that you aren't taking in the necessary nutrition and Water that you need to heal inside with.
If you don't you won't heal as well and if you aren't drinking your Water you will dehydrate and wined up in the hospital to get IV fluids.
These are things you should tell your surgeon about immediately so they can help you.
I struggled with things in the beginning but as the time passed things got better. I got healthier.
The best of luck to you and give your surgeon a call tomorrow and see what they say about how you are feeling and what they can do for you until your appointment.
