  1. I had my Lapband done in 2006 with Medicaid (NJ) and I guess I was one of the very lucky ones that didn't have to wait much. From the first pone call with the doctors office to the day of surgery was only 3 months with all specialists and requirements in between.
  2. I've read in numerous places people cooking with protein powders (flavored & unflavored). I've also read that cooking protein at high temp will destroy the protein. So you're basically wasting the powder and its doing nothing for you. Any input on this?
  3. Congrats. Fellow Lapbander here, can't wait to get this thing out of me
  4. Hello ladies, I have no business here but just need to ask a question. My girlfriend and I have been trying to conceive for some time now. Her weight is no help but the main problem is P.C.O.S. (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). I assume most of you know what it is (given your are all females), if not here is a link explaining what the syndrome is. ( http://womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/polycystic-ovary-syndrome.cfm ) She's leaning towards the RNY to help her weight but recent researching discoveries indicate women getting pregnant after WLS and P.C.O.S not being a factor anymore. Any of you ladies have any input or direct info in regards to this? Any of you have P.C.O.S and have gotten pregnant after RNY?
  5. Apply an ice pack to the painful area of your head. Try placing it on your forehead, temples, or the back of your neck. Take a warm bath or shower; take a nap; or take a walk. Ask someone to rub your neck and back, or treat yourself to a massage. Apply gentle, steady rotating pressure to the painful area of your head with your index finger and/or thumb. Maintain pressure for seven to 15 seconds, then release. Repeat as needed. Rest, sit, or lie quietly in a low-lit room. Close your eyes and try to release the tension in your back, neck, and shoulders. If you have excessive muscle contractions in the neck, it may be helpful to perform physical therapy exercises every day.
  6. I'm making meatballs with Mashed potatoes. Substituting ground beef for ground Turkey. Throwing in a scoop of unflavored protein powder in the meat as I season it. And a scoop in the potatoes as I mash them. With Greek yogurt to sub the sour cream
  7. If anyone here drinks either or has tried both, which of the two do you guys prefer? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W08118/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2UGN8RF7ZQCEE&coliid=I2Z9GDRRIXPFR http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVCIHW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2UGN8RF7ZQCEE&coliid=IP3CQZ2NKKEGP
