  1. I haven't heard many negative comments about WLS at the hospital where I work. I am sure those comments are out there somewhere, but I couldn't care less. My friends use to call me "Big-T" and I rolled with it, because they are my friends. Now, they call me "Skinny." It always brings a tear to my eye and a smile on my face. Tomorrow when I weigh in, I should be under 200. I got a little of topic with this reply, so yes BOOOOOO to all those un-educated people that feel compelled to give you their negative opinions!!!

  2. I ran a Frosty 5K a month ago, I have another cold 5K this coming Saturday. I have signed up and paid for 3 other 5K's. I also plan on doing a color run, and a mud run. I am toying with the idea of training for and running a 10K near the end of summer. Can't wait. Good luck with all your races!!!

  3. I started keeping track the day I started my two week pre-op diet, even though a year before surgery I was even heavier. At the end of the day, I could care less what the scale says. I am more obsessed with my body fat percentage. I wish our weight loss stats had a spot for "Goal body fat percentage" instead of "goal weight". I don't think weight alone is a good factor of overall health. But that is just me, and I could be wrong.

  4. I agree, trainers are expensive. I got rid of my $100 (insert cable tv provider here) and put the money towards a trainer, and I am saving $30 a month. She literally kicks my ass twice a month. So worth it!!! We meet today in less than an hour, can't wait!!!! We all started where you are starting, by putting one foot in front of the other.

Good luck with your workout adventures, whatever you decide.

  5. Congrats on your decision to start running. I ran my first 5K a few weeks ago. I have been running a few on my own since then. I also have signed up for a bunch more this year, one of them being a mud run and a color run. I was recently at an outlet mall and bought myself a bunch of nice running shorts, shirts, socks and jackets. It felt awesome to treat myself. I never thought I would become a runner, but I have to say I am hooked. Although it wasn't necessary I bought a subscription to runner's world magazine, and bought: Runner's World Complete Book of Running: Everything you need to run for weight loss, fitness, and competion. A great book with tons of useful stuff in it. I also wear compression gear when I go running or use the eliptical. It helps keep all the jiggly bits in check. Don't forget when you are out running, you are lapping everybody sitting on their couch!!

    All the best!!! :)
