    Exercise & motivation

I feel you on this one. I have been lifting weights and doing cardio non-stop for the last 12 months. Here are a few of things I have done to help keep motivated: bought a good mountain bike, started swimming, treated myself to some nice quality workout gear/ shoes, bought a Garmin Vivofit, discovered a few new bands(workout music is key for me) re-discovered my love of Geo-caching, and when needed have taken a few days off to get back to level ground. Best Wishes!!

    Recovery advice

I wasn't allowed to lift more than 10 pounds for ten weeks after surgery.
  4. I had a very smooth surgery. I feel very lucky. One of the best post op experiences so far has to be the day I went into a department store and tried on a size 50x30 pair of jeans and a size 3XL t-shirt. I was in utter shock and disbelief that this is what I wore before my surgery. I can now comfortably wear a size 31x30 jean and a size L t-shirt. I love clothes shopping and I love having my picture taken. I am so happy I had the surgery. All the best with whatever you decide. Trever

What types of food can you enjoy down the road?

Soon to be 13 months post-op. I can eat things that contain sugar with no problem. I cannot tolerate anything deep fried or high in fat. i have lost all desire to eat red meat, chicken, fish, pork, and seafood. I still measure out my food with a scale. I like to keep my portion sizes in check. I try to avoid that "full" feeling at all costs. I still get joy out of my food. I love trying new things at the Asian food store or the co-op. I have an affinity for dill pickles, cheerios, organic milk, roasted seaweed, and a trail mix that I make myself. I couldn't be happier with my decision to have surgery. Just for fun yesterday I grabbed a size 50 x 30 pair of jeans at the store and held them up for my girlfriend and her daughter to see. The look on their faces was priceless.
  16. Adventure. I was handed a blank map the day of surgery.

Glad to hear it Brian. I loved sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello. Not sure how much those things satisfied me.
