  1. I have been having nausea and, vomiting since 2 weeks post op. I had a stricture that kept coming back and had to be dilated 3 times and I'm only 3months post op. I have been in and out of the hospital several, times as well. I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for over 2 weeks. I was unable to take anything by mouth. They put a picc line in and started me on TPN (IV nutrients). Thy had to pull my picc line a week later cause it went bad. I was eating a clear/full liquid diet. Now I'm vomiting again and this time I'm having sever abdominal pain as well. I'm unable to keep much down and it all hurts even water. My surgeon has me on several medications but they aren't helping. He suggested I might have to have a revision done. Has anyone had a b anything like this? Or had a revision? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I'm extremely weak physically and emotionally drained from all this.

  3. Well, I have been home from the hospital since Monday evening. I had surgery on Wed Sept. 3. The surgeon went in to do an exploratory lap and to insert a feeding tube to my old stomach because I am severely malnourished right now. So, the surgery was only supposed to be an hour long and that was to explore the abdomen and then insert the feeding tube. The surgery ended up being 3hours long. I had severe scar tissue build up. My liver had so much scar tissue it was attached to my pouch, and I had a lot of scar tissue on/around the pouch itself which was causing all the pain. Also, I had a bowel to the right of my pouch that had twisted and then collapsed in on itself. He had to untwist the bowel and then stitched up so it wouldn't twist or collapse again. Also, I had busted several stitches due to the excessive vomiting I have been having. And lastly, he found a large right ovarian cyst that I will follow up with my OBGYN for. He did insert the feeding tube as well to allow my stomach to heal over the next 6 weeks. My surgeon is pretty sure that the bowel and scar tissue were causing all of the problems that I was having. On the good side of things, I weighed myself last night and I'm officially down 110 lbs since surgery!!! Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers. Please continue to keep me in them as I continue to heal.

  5. @@Ginger Snaps I definitely feel like nobody listening right now except my surgeon. I'm currently in the hospital and the doctors other than my surgeon are treating me like I'm making all this up. Its very frustrating. Idk what to do any more

    Regergitation? What the heck?

Not necessarily. It could be one little thing or everything. I was told that any pain with eating/drinking is NOT normal. And when I have had my strictures I had pain in my chest then vomiting or regurgitation with it. Don't let it get to bad. My dad had th surgery and had pain but thought it was normal. He ended up with a bad stricture and busted stitches and had internal bleeding. I Would recommend at least getting it checked out.

    Regergitation? What the heck?

I had a similar issue and I had a horrible stricture. My esophagus was completely closed off. This was my first stricture and have had 3 since then. I would definitely do the scscope. It doesn't hurt to check it.
  8. I will. I've lost 100lbs in the past 3 months just from not being able to eat. My nutritionist said that nutritionally my blood work has been bad, but I haven't been able to eat much. This past week I've dropped 15lbs. Idk what's going on anymore. I'm having horrible pains all the time.
  9. So my RENT Gastric Bypass surgery is one week from today! ! I'm feeling very excited yet nervous at the same time. Anyone have any advice on how to calm nerves or words of wisdom/encouragement?? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  10. Yeah it is!! I think the gas they use to inflate your stomach during surgery is the worst. Now that some of that's gone I'm dealing with the actual muscle/ abdomen pain. But it's getting better each day.
  11. Thanks!! I am actually almost 1 week post op. I had my surgery Friday May 23!! I'm still recovering but slowly getting there.
  12. Thank you!! That's a really great idea! I have already thought of things that I want to do I just have never wrote them down.
  13. After a ling 6months of dieting I have been approved by insurance for Roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery on May 23. I'm so excited that this is finally happening. I know I waited the 6 months but I think that this last month is going to be the hardest...lol!!

  16. That's really exciting!! Good luck! I feel like the next few weeks are going to take forever to get here...lol. Fingers crossed it for by quickly.
  17. Thanks!!! I felt like the 6months took forever!! But it was really worth it to prepare for everything after surgery!! Good luck to you and hopefully the last month goes by quickly and you grt approved for surgery soon after.

    Approved?!

So I was notified today that I have a "tentative" surgery date of May 23. I qas told that insurance needed a prospective date but they haven't fully said "yes" to approval. Has this happened to anyone else? Also is it safe to say I'm pretty much approved?

    Approved?!

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I was just hoping that this meant I was pretty much approved for the surgery. I wouldn't see why they would ask for a date and then say nope never mind on the surgery.
  20. Thank you. I'm very excited about this!
  21. Hi everyone. I am new to this and I have made the decision to have gastric bypass specifically the Roux En Y procedure. I am very excited to start and have the highest hopes that this will work. My dad had the surgery 4 yrs ago and is doing amazingly well. I am 24 yrs old and this WILL be the start of something amazing!!
  22. Thanks! Good luck on your surgery! I have just started the process so it will be a little bit before I get my surgery date but can't wait.
