More than 200 lbs to lose?

I had surgery in November 2013. At my heaviest I weighed 385 lbs. I am now at 285lbs. I am amazed daily by the differences I see and feel. I am beginning to notice the sagging skin but the tiny legs are a plus. Lol. I still have about a 100 lbs to go to be at my original goal but I have to say I am so much happier now then I was before surgery. Before surgery

    Discomfort in apron

I am about three months post op and have lost around 100 lbs from my heaviest. I have recently been experiencing discomfort in my lower stomach area ( the skin my doc calls my apron). It's almost like a bruised feeling. Has anyone else had this feeling? Is it due to the weight of the hanging skin? HW: 385 SW: 347 CW: 291
  3. I started my liquid diet on Friday. On Tuesday I had what I can only describe as a gas bubble, I was in such pain I thought I was going to die. I haven't eaten anything since only Water and tea. I'm so sore I don't even want anything. On top of that I'm still having gas. Which I don't understand because if I'm not putting food in Why am I having gas. Also I have a metallic taste in my mouth and I can smell everything. Last night I could smell the soap that was used to wash my water glass I could hardly finish my water. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? I'm worried because my surgery is on Monday.
  4. At my highest I was 385lbs. I was 347 on the day of surgery (11/4/13). I was just weighed today at the docs office and weighed 295lbs. That's down 90lbs from my highest. I still have just over 100lbs to go though. Long journey ahead but I've come a long way too.

how much do you lose monthly

I had surgery on November 4th and have lost 43 lbs. I hit a stall between thanksgiving and Xmas but just started losing again. HW: 385. SW: 347. CW: 304.

    Not losing lbs

So, a long stall is normal? I'm almost two months out and feel like I haven't lost anything this whole month. I may have even gained a pound or two. I feel like I'm doing everything wrong. I am eating but not to much, but I can't stomach Protein shakes so I'm lacking there and have been so busy with work and the holidays that I haven't exercised. Maybe I'm failing at this. Officially Post-Op !

Hey all. I had my surgery on Monday November 4th. All went well and I came home the next day. I have been very lucky with not having a lot of pain. Just soreness and a little discomfort at times. I'm having a heck of a time with getting my Protein in. Doing great with fluids though considering I'm on the liquid diet. A lot of temptations have been around and although the items have all smelled amazing I have had no desire to eat them. I am looking forward to be able to eat set hong besides Clear liquids though. Ok enough ranting. Time for some stats. HW:385lbs. SW:347lbs. CW:328lbs I hope everyone else is doing well in their journeys and look forward to continued success.

    November surgeries?

So it's official. I have surgery on november4th at 11:30am. Excited and scared all at the same time.
  12. I am pre-op and weigh in at around 370 right now. I already have what they refer to as an "apron" on my lower stomach and have been having sweating issues at work with this area. My question is for those of you who are post op, does the sweating get better or does this continue until you have a tummy tuck? I know I'm going to have excess skin since I've been fat my whole life, just wondering if this gets a bit better as the weight drops.
  13. Have dark thick scaly skin around my neck, feet, hands, and other places. I have been told the only way to get rid of it is to lose weight. Has anyone else had this issue and did surgery help or is there other steps I can take to help it?

    Dark/thick skin

I have had this forever as well. I'm embarrassed to wear anything without sleeves. Feel like I have to hide my armpits because they look dirty. My neck has gradually gotten worse over the years and my six year old daughter and her friends have asked me many times why my neck is dirty. I scrub those areas everyday with soap and a foot brush. I have scrubbed until it's raw before. I was given cream as well. It only made the areas itch. I hope these areas will go away after surgery and if anyone has any other treatment ideas please let me know.

    NOVEMBER 2013 Surgeries

As long as everything goes ok at my next appointment I will have surgery on november 4th. The day before my 40th birthday.

    November surgeries?

I got the call from the surgical nurse today. I go for my full day appointment on october 24th. If all goes well at that appointment then I could be scheduled for surgery on November 4th. The day before my 40th birthday. I said when I began this journey that I wanted it done before I was 40 and now that just may happen. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

    Waiting game

So I had my insurance turned in last Thursday. I called today and they said it could take three weeks for an answer and then I will schedule an all day appointment with a class and labs and such. That is when I will receive my surgery date. That is all if I get approved at all. I am on tri west which just was taken over by united healthcare, they say I'm good to go but my doc office says I don't have enough diet documentation. This is so frustrating.

    Waiting game

I had to have 8 or 9 vials of blood drawn. It ranged from the usual blood sugar check to thyroid check. It was quite a list. My lab was great though and got them processed very quickly.

    Waiting game

Well, I got approved by insurance and the doctors office called me and said I hadn't been seen in a while and needed to come in for a follow up. I went in and found out there were a bunch of labs I needed to have done that they never told me about. The doctor said that was the only thing keeping me from being scheduled. I have been on the phone with the doctors office for months trying to find out if there is anything I needed to get done. They never mentioned that. So I've had the labs done, got them sent to the doctor and now I'm waiting for the doctor to review my file and send it on to the surgeons. I was told that would take a few days to a week and that was on Monday. If I don't hear anything tomorrow from them I'm going to have to call and bug them again next Monday. I want this done!

    Dark/thick skin

I do have diabetes and pcos. I'm just wondering if it will go away as I lose weight.
  21. I work as a receptionist/ human resources clerk for a busy company and am in a fairly high traveled area if the business. I was wondering how sick anyone got after surgery and did it effect your job? I'm pre-op and just concerned how I will handle this aspect of the surgery. Is there anything special I can do to prevent from having to run down the hallway to the bathrooms all the time?
  22. So, did anyone else start worrying or have second thoughts before surgery? I have worked for over a year to get this done and now that it is actually getting close I'm getting a bit nervous. I find myself emotional eating a lot ( making myself sick with food), claiming I'm just preparing for my liquid diet. But then I worry that if I'm doing this now what's to stop me after surgery. I want to do this to be a healthy mom for my kids but I'm afraid I'm going to fail them.

    "Big boned girl"

Has anyone ever been told they were big boned and would never be skinny? I've been told this my whole life and I do have broad shoulders so I'm a little afraid that when I do lose it won't look like it or ill still look big. I'd just like to be able to wear bracelets or a watch. And maybe be able to pull off a halter top or strapless once in my life.
  24. So I saw the doc today and he said the only thing that's preventing me from being scheduled for surgery is new lab work. So I have to go Saturday to see if I can get my blood drawn and get it sent down to my bariatric doctor ASAP. The doc said on e he has that I could be having surgery within 4 to 6 weeks.

    Pen Pal Goodie Boxes?

I could've use a pen pal, I think. I'm pre-op, confused and have no support group in the area. I need a friend.
