  1. Im 4 weeks out post op also and I take my vits everyday and I do a Protein Shake every morning for my Breakfast. My Nut would like me to only use a Protein supplement once a day if I can and I'm still struggling to get my 60-80g in, its not easy. I have also noticed when I don't get enough protein or Water in, then I start feeling very crappy. Listen to your body, I would agree that you need at least one higher protein supplement in a day until you are supposed to eat more so you can get enough just by food. There is no way I could ever get enough protein in at 4 weeks if I didn't use a supplement. I'm not surprised you feel awful. Oh course smoking will also work against your new body, so that too would be a priority to quit and this is a perfect time. My doctor won't even do surgery if the person smokes and doesn't quit prior to surgery, seems to be a pretty big deal. Good luck, you have come to far to not be successful, I would talk with your Doc and Nut and help you back on track.

  2. Thanks for the input everyone, I do appreciate it. It is frustrating just for the fact that I'm already forcing myself to eat and now this just makes even more difficult to get in my required Protein. I'm sure in the future it will be a blessing and I can see that, but man it's sure making it hard now...uggg. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling with this and that does help. This site is fantastic for information and support, thank ou!

  3. I swear over the last week to week and a half nothing seems to taste good to me. I have been introducing more meats, and I love meat, and none of them really taste good. Even when I have sauces with them and such I feel like I just taste the meat taste and it is not appealing. Has anyone else went through this? Before this it seemed like I was more hungry and everything looked and sounded good, but know I don't have much interest and the meats are becoming difficult to eat.

  4. Thanks ladies, I will start my logging. I met with my doctor and nut today. I'm doing very good, but I'm only getting about half the Protein I need. My nut really wants me to kick it into gear. I need to keep my calories to 400-500 a day and get at least 70-80g of protein. The weight I have lost was all fat so that felt good. I can add ground meats and fish to my diet so that should help. I'm excited for the future me and don't want to screw it up.

  5. My Surgery was on 9/11 and I'm down about 24lbs. Today I'm feeling kind of weak and drained. I'm a pretty active guy and think I over do it on most days. I have been having a Protein Shake for Breakfast and some Tomato / cheese Soup or mashed potatoes for lunch & dinner. I'm drinking my Water throughout the day. I question if I'm getting enough food or calories? Last week I was trying some different foods and probably trying some soft foods to soon so I backed off even though I tolerated most if what I tried. I have my first follow up with my surgeon, RN, and nutritionist tomorrow and supposed to return to work on Tuesday. I will need more energy for I can tell that. Just looking for some advice and opinions from you. Not a lot of men on here compared to women and I wonder the gender difference makes???

  6. I bought a weight watchers scale today. I'm pretty annoyed by it. I weighed myself in three different spots and got three different results. All are within a few pounds' date=' so I have no idea which one is correct. I think I'm going to take it back tomorrow.

Start weight 224, Surgery weight 205, Current weight 199[/quote']

I used to have the same issue and it was very frustrating. I did my research and spent the extra money and bought a Tanita brand scale and its great, worth the money and consistent.

  7. I had my surgery on Sept. 11th and I have to say I'm feeling pretty good now, last three days I have turned the corner. I have minor tenderness around incision sites and drain. Amy able to drink more Water than sipping now, which feels great. Still on pretty soft/pureed foods. I tried some soft canned chicken the other night and it about killed me, I think it was still to rough for me. Drinking a far amount or Soup and trying to get enough Protein in from my shakes. Trying to find a good smoothie recipe I like. I'm happy to say I'm down about 17lbs since surgery and that feels good. I have more of an appetite back were some foods actually look good even though I know I can't eat them yet. I'm still off work and trying to be more active daily and feel like I over do it most days. I'm so motivated to drop the weight and become healthier. I keep telling myself this will be a long journey and I must have patience. My goal is to lose about 150lbs and actually see the scale below 200 even if its 199. Started at 365, surgery weight was 345, current is 327. I'm looking forward to the next year and learning how to use this new tool to the best of my ability. Good luck to all of you, we are an elite group. :-)

  8. I just returned home from the hospital thus afternoon, my surgery was on the 11th also. My first day post op after I passed my swallow study they wanted me to get in 300-500ml of liquids in, that was a struggle. Now for the next 3 weeks its 48 oz a day. My surgeons told me the best way to know if your getting in enough fluids us by your output. You should be peeing 4 times a day, any less then your not getting enough. I thought that was good advice. Pretty sore but glad to be home.
