  1. Thanks so much ladies, I can't wait for the surgery day.
  2. Mine is next Wednesday the 11th and I'm on my pre-op diet. I'm also trying different protein shakes and powders. I have only been taking vit C prior to surgery and will start the rest post surgery. This will also be my first surgery, but I'm trying to be very positive that all will go well.
  3. Ok, here is my dilemma, My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 11th, Pre-op physical, labs, surgeon, etc.. on Sept 3rd, and I see the nutritionist next Wednesday Aug. 28th to start my 2 week pre- op diet. My surgeon wants me at 350# before surgery. Today I was 351#s on my home scale and of course at the doctors office it is always fully clothed and there is usually a 2-4 pounds different (higher) than home. I do want to have a few "last supper" meals and I planned on getting it out of my system this weekend, but I'm really contemplating if I should or not since I'm hovering so close at my needed start weight. I want to be at least were I'm at now when I see the nutritionist on Wednesday..... any advice out there???? Seems like this should not be a hard choice or big decision, but I have so many things running through my head with surgery rapidly approaching that I could you your thoughts. Eat or not eat???
  4. I asked the same question a few weeks ago and majority who responded to mine said they waited for about 1 week. I have my pre-op with the surgeon next week so I'm going to ask him then.
  5. I just started my pre-op diet today. Protein shakes, very low fat and calories, they have every meal and snack very structured on what exactly to eat and just how much. The good part is that it means surgery is getting closer. I go for my pre-op testing and such next Tuesday Sept 3rd. Lets get this going!!!
  6. Sorry to hear it got moved....but mine is on the 11th also, not the best date in the world, but can't wait for it to get here.
  7. Well we did go out to eat last Saturday and I had a nice lunch with my family and ate what I wanted too. I basically had my last supper day. Its was good. On Sunday I was back on track and doing good. I had my visit with the nutritionist yesterday and I weighed in at 346, so it went great. I started my pre-op diet today. Just thought I would give an update....Thanks everyone for your thoughts and input.
  8. Prayers coming your way and hoping for nothing but the very best.

    So nervous!

You can do this! My surgery is just over 2 weeks away and I have the same feelings and I just remember that there are thousands of these operations performed each year and the complication rate is very low nation wide. We are all doing this to be healthier and happier for ourselves and for the rest of our lives. Stay focused on the final goal and don't forget why you started this journey. Hang in there, we have your back!

    Excited!

GREAT BIG CONGRATS!!!!!! KEEP IT GOING!!!!!
  13. My surgeon just said " I would like you to lose 15 pounds" back on my very first visit with him. He acted like he has to tell me to do something, but never said he wouldn't operate. I know this whole thing seems ridiculous, but that's what I have been thinking about. Thanks for the advice everyone, I really do appreciate it.
  14. you guys and your dang common sense.....
  15. You gals have great points....uggg.... JustJenn, yours is a hoot, but you definitely understand my situation..... I actually feel like I could eat and I know I will be under 350 by surgery date since my pre-op diet is a 700-900 calorie a day diet and very structured, but I also want to be at goal weight for both of these appointments. Maybe I should just go have a bloodymary and decide!

    Pre-op weight loss

    Congrats
  17. Thanks Rick, I appreciate it!
  18. So my question is how much pain were you in upon discharge during your drive home? I will have about an hour+ drive home upon discharge and I know how awful it can be. My son had knee surgery about 4 months ago and the drive home was the worst thing I had to ever see with him, he was in tremendous pain even with pain meds on board. Just thought I would ask those who have been there.
  19. Ok, so this may sound awful and I can't believe I'm the only one who has pondered this, but how long after surgery before you can have sex again? I have to think there is more to it than just when the pain is gone, would hate to screw up anything in my abdomen, but you use a lot of muscles and it seems like a valid question. I'm going to ask my surgeon when I go for my pre-op on Sept 3rd before my surgery on the 11th, just thought I would ask those who have been there. Thanks!
  20. Thanks for all the info, I will take all the advice I can get.
