  1. Is the facebook group only for Dr Ortiz's patients or all July Sleavers?
  2. welcome!! Looks like we share a similar history and now we'll be revision twins!
  3. wow your story is like mine. Banded in 2008 lost 121lbs got pregnant and had my son in 2011. And nothing but trouble since then and yes licking off soups pretty much. Opened my band up in Oct and put on 50lbs since then. I'm getting the sleeve done on 6/18 and hopefully put these past 3 years behind me and move ion finally.Let me know how it goes!! 7/7 is my date and I can't wait!!!!
  4. How are your iron levels?
  5. My surgeon recommends four weeks off work but financially that isn't possible. With my band, I was banded Thursday and returned to work Monday. How long do I need to plan to stay home?
  6. You and I share a similar story. I was banded in 2007. I lost 99lbs and then found out we were expecting. I completely unfilled for the sake of my child's nutrition and it has never been the same since. I'm constantly intolerant of most things until well into the evening and even then its mostly Soups or wine. I've regained 65lbs and I'm so beyond tired of being afraid to eat or going to the bathroom after every meal. My body is in starvation mode and is holding to every thing I eat; good, bad or otherwise.
  7. Outstanding!!! I hope my revision is as successful!!
  8. I received my approval Friday. Now i'm waiting for the scheduler to call and set the date and any pre-op testing they want to do, if any. I cannot wait!!! Congrats to those of you already approved!
  9. Howdy! I had my LapBand done in Conroe by Dr. Collier in 2007. He has since retired and I have been picked up by Dr. Turnquest. I am awaiting approval for revision to VSG, but it looks good. I've had major complications concluding in 2 hospitalizations. I had a very successful band until I got pregnant and had to unfill. It was never the same again. I'm ready for normalcy, if that is possible. Are there any local groups in North Houston?
  10. Is the gas any better??
  11. I think it sounds normal. Does the incision look ok? remember to limit the bending and pulling. Your muscles were cut to allow for the band and instruments to pass. So even though you have an new item sewn to your muscles in 4 places, you also have that cut to heal as well. That hurts. But i promise, it does get better and quickly. Incisions never hurt, just the port site which will remain tender for a week or so.
  12. How close is the port site to where the hernia repair was done? And when does the port hurt the most? Also, i was told by DrC if i HAD to have a DrPepper, to let it go flat for a couple hours, then drink it. However, I refuse to drink the empty calories. And i'm afraid if I drink it, i'll want to continue. So no DP for me in over a year!
  13. Howdy Howdy! I'm on here and OH. but more OH than here
  14. I got a half unfill after finding out about our surprise family addition. I had lost 91lbs in the 8 moths prior with 75lbs still to go. I'm sitting at a weight gain of about 15lbs right now and i'm 31wks tomorrow.
  15. I second Ivillage.com I've been there for 4 years now and love it!
  16. You know you have to tell us more. Police escort??
  17. Name: Sherra How far along: 31wks Due Date: July 4th but will be induced at 38wks (June 16 or 23) Boy/Girl/Surprise: Boy - Owen jacob "Jake" Rants: None Raves: This has been the easiest pg so far of my 3 because the weightloss has made it physically less stressful on me. Anything else: I'm just now starting to feel the discomfort of being pregnant. At 31wks I think that is pretty dang good. I have 7 weeks to go.
  18. That is a riot. I lost 20lbs pre op and then another 71lbs post up before my 6mth mark when we found out we were pg. I have for the most part maintained that loss within the restrictions of a healthy pregnancy. You bet i'll be back on the Band wagon as soon as this baby arrives and i get the medical ok. :smile2:
  19. I'm going to join the "band" wagon. LOL! I used Dr. Collier as well. I did not use his Journeylite location, but instead his office in Conroe. He is phenominal. I was banded 04.20.07 and lost 91lbs in the first 8months. I am currently 7mths pregnant thanks to the joys of weight loss and increased fertility. However, Dr. Collier is a phenominal surgeon with amazing bedside mannor. I can only assume that his peers are as amazing!
  20. The problem with drinkig with alcohol isn't so much what it will do to the band, because it won't do really anything. The kicker is consuming all the empty calories. We can eat so little, so its important to make good choices when we do consume calories.
  21. OKay here are my preferences.. Weekday evening...Thursday or Tuesday say 630 or 7. Westheimer or off 10 would be preferable coffeehouse would be fine...Some of the local hospitals will host if requested...thoughts?
  22. I was banded in April and would LOVE to join a local group. How far as this gone so far toward actually coming to fruition?
