New to forum

I am new to the whole process. I am sooo glad I joined. There is so much helpful information. I think I will be able to take every step with more confidence knowing what paperwork and hurdles are instore for me. And even if the anser comes back a "decline" that is just for the fight, not the war or the journey. Welcome again and congrats on having a date. May I ask when you first started this process?

    Cancelling Lap band

Very-very stressful!!! Glad it worked out!
  3. I do not know if it is required, but I have an appt with my primary doctor to state that I feel I need WLS. I am hoping to obtain a letter of support from him. I will be bringing my history and proof of payment for various weight loss attemps as well as my last years blood test results. I am going to ask for a new weight and a height (shoes off this time). I have no idea of his opionion of WLS but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try for a written recommendation. I also will have him look at my chart. I had a BMI of 38 two years ago and then I quit smoking. I now have a BMI of 42. (But my lungs are now healthy:)).

    Waiting for approval!

Congrats!!! I have no patience....I am counting the days until my required seminar just to get the paperwork. I might actually lose some hair before surgery. I know I probably have a minimum of six month of waiting to get through the whole process-but hoping I will find a light at the end of the tunnel like you did! i have health partners, but no one on this board seems to have that so I have no clue if they are easier or more difficult. If anyone knows, please post! Thanks!

    Dyslipidermia

I am anxious like everone one is to see the word "approval". I am in the early stages of this process and have done ALOT of reading. Ya'll have been VERY helpful. Here is my story. My health Partners covers the surgery if BMI 40+ over two years of BMI 35-39 with dyslipidemia with cholesterol LDL greater than 130. So, what is that? I have total chl of 265 but have no idea of HDL/LDL numbers. This is important because I am at BMI of 43 but 2 years ago I was 39. Any help would be wonderful. :help:
  14. I am new to the boards. I have an appointment with my doctor, just for a formality so I have my weight complaint recorded and ask a couple of questions. I have my seminar scheduled for August. I am glad i did alot of reading here, I had no idea the process took so long- I am glad for the headz-up. I have health Partners and i am preparing for a fight. My BMI is 42. I have tried all the same weight loss tactics as everone plus a hypnotist- very interesting at $100 per hour. I will only have the band if insurance covers it, I can not affor to pay for it. I have also ordered copies of my medical records for the past couple of years so I am prepared for anything they throw at me. I am wondering how someone proves they were enrolled in the weight programs. Would I just call and ask for copies? Didn't know they kept them. Question: Does anyone know if they are required to have 3-6 months of diet programs under thier belt if it has to a six mont hconsecutive period, or it you could have been enrolled in 3 programs but only stayed on for two months each???:kiss2:

    Insurance

Anyone have Health Partners???
I am just starting the process. Haven't had the first meeting yet. My isnurance covers it if I meet the specs, not sure about my weight over the past two yesars though. What are co-morbidies?? Are they self proclaimed? or do they have to be recorded as a complaint at the doctors office??
