I didn't take painkillers prescribed by a doctor after first night home... I went to chewable and liquid Tylenol.

I had the same issue, but it is getting better. Just sip sip sip and then again in 5 minutes.. Cold water should also help with swelling around your new pouch opening.. Hope you'll feel better soon!

    Packing

I wore the same clothes home as well. You may want to get sports bra or sort of elastic sleeveless top to hold your boobs... One of the incisions is always close to the bra line, some have it closer than other, but when I put my bra on, it was really painful. I also took my cotton bathrobe to go for a walk without showing your butt to the staff, phone and charger, my own toothbrush/toothpaste and face cleanser. That's it, you don't really need much...
  5. Welcome and good luck. Sorry to hear about the spine issues, I hope that the weight loss will help to get rid of at least some problems... Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
  6. Seriously? Like salad, chicken, crackers type of things? Jealous! I sooooo much want to get tomatoes/cucumber/onion salad with salt and pepper..

Oh no, this sucks but it shows you how important the hydration is... I hope you feel better soon! Remember that you can do Popsicles and it will count for like 3-4 oz of water, depending on the size... Keeping my fingers crossed that it was first and last visit to ER! Take care!!!
  8. I was on full liquids for one day after surgery, then it will be full liquids until 2 week post op appt, then purées and normal diet after week 6. I was on liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery and had bowel prep day before.

    Bored eater!

I am exactly like that! I still get cravings when I'm bored. I don't think there's specific thing I do, to think about something else though. I do lots of clay modeling with the kids and take them outside the house often, just playing on the front yard. If you worry about overeating after surgery... stop- you will change your eating habits post op, trust me

    Any other 5'5 ers?

I just had bypass on 8/12. I was 285 the day of the surgery and my bmi was something around 46. Bypass is the golden standard and I strongly believe there are fewer side effects like severe reflux and weight regain. It is your decision, bypass is not for everybody, but I heard of many people having revision from sleeve to RNY. Good luck!!

Be persistent, I got maybe 20 oz the first day, 30 the next and it is a chore, I know, but eventually you should be able to drink more. Maybe you are just afraid of drinking pains?

    August 2013 surgeries

My surgeon said not to swallow if bigger than standard pencil eraser. This hydrocortisone pills were enormous so I went to target and got junior chewable Tylenol. No added sugar, tastes like a bubblegum and I feel okay... Unfortunately it doesn't kick me out, but I have my old pal ambien for that Surprisingly I was in serious pain only the day when I went home, since then I'm on tylenol. Issues with water intake are still serious, my doc called and reminded me to drink as much as I can... Well, I could do 25oz yesterday and about 30 today... Protein intake sucks because it is another liquid.... I tried isopure water protein and it tastes like a Poo. Capital P poo... Ugh... I really wish I could have tuna salad on cracker ;(

    August 2013 surgeries

I am 3 days post op and still in some pain, but it is nothing compared to where it was 2 days ago. I struggle with my water/protein intake and I'm allowed to have some soups and yogurt. I hope you guys are doing great! Oh, I am not taking the prescribed painkillers, they were too huge even after I split them into 6-8 pieces and when I powdered it, the powder was too bitter to swallow, so I went with children's Tylenol. It is damn sweet but stays down and I don't dump on it... Good luck to all of you!
