  1. Ok so in 4 days I will be 4 months out. I'm 66lbs down. Went from 211 to 145. I have been having kidney stones and colic so they told me to switch from whey Protein. Not easy. I wasn't good about shakes before. Lately I've been eating a lot of steamed edamame which are high in soy protein so that's nice. I've had 3 esophageal dilations for a stricture and I finally meet with my urologist today. Wish me luck! Kidney stones are a you-know-what!

    Yikes! Good luck!

  2. It's probably kinda dumb' date=' but the thing I keep looking most forward to for my future body, is wearing levis. Like plain old non-mom-jean jeans that I just pull on (without an elastic waist) button, zip and throw on a fitted t then walk out into society. I've watched women on tv shows and commercials do that for years and now I really seem to "want" that. I know, superficial - I should want to just be healthy or run 10 miles, or . . . . .[/quote']

Momma_Doe! I am right there with you!

  3. Well' date=' my 6 month appointment was this morning. I unfortunately did not quite make my goal. I could not have been much closer as I am currently down 99.6 pounds. So even though I have not had that amazing feeling of being down 100 pounds yet, I know it will only be a matter of days. I did find out that I have lost 25 inches between my neck, waist and hips. My new goal is to spend New Years Day in onederland.

I will also admit that I have seen the weight loss slow down this month. I had been averaging about 5 pounds a week. Since the first of September I have lost 15 pounds. Still a good loss, but definitely slower. I just need to keep reminding myself that this is a journey not a sprint![/quote']

Congrats on a successful appt! Next stop...Onederland!

  4. I thought it was about sucking in.air and.drinking to.quickky? I do use a straw occasionally when I'm drinking ice tea but I take small sips.

Exactly. I try to not swallow the extra air...which slows down my drinking...which really irritates me. Lol!

  5. Are we allowed to drink out of straws?... I know we couldn't at first' date=' but is like to use one to suck down Protein Drinks. It'll go faster!![/quote']

I use on occasionally but am very care to not swallow the air. More of a pain than a help imho.

  6. Here is a weird thing i noticed this week. you Ladies out there may not be able to identify with this' date=' but here we go anyway :-)

in the past 30 years i have shaved my face every third day and never had any problems. i chalked it up to my irish heritage and fair skin etc.

i was apparently wrong! the hair must have not been long enough to get through all of the fat layers...lol. i now have to shave every day and decided to grow a full beard ( trimmed neatly) for the winter.

im kinda of psyched about this shaving thing...just sayin

    Have a great day.

    RJ[/quote']

    Maybe its the extra Protein?

  7. I'm excited for my Doctors appointment tomorrow 3 months post op. Down 87 lbs since my first appointment with the doc. Down 70 since surgery.

Knock on wood I've been blessed. I haven't had any dumping syndrome and not tossing my Cookies. But' date=' I haven't had any breads, rice, pastas. I'm feeling good.

  8. I'm getting so discouraged. I'm 3 months post op this week & I'm only down 42lbs. I've always "held onto weight"' date=' being PCOS, but I'm so frustrated. I suffered an ankle injury a month out & still can't exercise or walk a distance.

I know I'm not meeting my Protein or Water goals, but I do try. I'm just losing hope.[/quote']

Hey! Perk up hon. Its just a spot in the road to get over. 42 lbs is fantastic!

  9. I am 1 pound away from losing 100lbs from my highest weight from my first consultation with the surgeon. My goal is to lose that by Thursday' date=' which is my 3 month from surgery mark. This is my first big goal and I am going to reward myself with something (perhaps a charm for my bracelet)!

What are your first big goals and did you reward yourself?

When I hit 100lbs, I hoe to get contacts again.

  11. I found that the LUNA brand lemon zest ones are great and the numbers work. granted they are " designed" for women (what ever that marketing ploy means) but they are the only line that seem to be geared more towards rny patients. they are actually a Cliff product. and tase great.

i stick with the lemon zest because im not a big fan of chocolate.< /p>

    RJ

I love chocolate. That is why I was hoping they were at least decent. LOL!

  12. I have to make a confession' date=' I didn't always scrub my toilets every week (not gross but . . .) Well, yet another outcome of RNY because I always need to be prepared for yacking (like tonight). Carry on.[/quote']

Was same way. Now? Clean them religiously.

  13. They are real thin' date=' like half the thickness of a standard bagel. Maybe not in all markets yet. I think either Brownberry makes them. I have bought them pre-surgery. Seems like they would be easier to digest (post surg).[/quote']

    Cool! Will look for them!

  15. We will be walking :) but I'm really looking forward to it. Now we need to come up with a clever name for our team.

Some fellow bariatric friends and I are doing a Glow Run/Walk in Nov in NC. Are you doing that one?

  17. Excellent....ooooh thats a lie :-). had a breakfast disaster yesterday. me and my adventerous side decided against the better judgement of my sane side to try a turkey sausage' date=' egg white on a tiny whole wheat bagel.for breakfast. had two very very well chewed bites and it got STUCK like a car on the Schykill expressway (philly ref) it was so bad i had to get off the trolley to get "relief " ....took two hours to get my shit back together again.

i really hate these eating lessons ....... oh well back to scrambled eggs. Damn you Bagels !!!! lol[/quote']
