Talk to your doc, from what I've gathered every doctor will varies! I know I plan to I just need to discuss that with my surgeon. I'm a social girl who enjoys going out for a few drinks every now and again.

Pre-Op Diet Question
ShineBright724 replied to LindsJ83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a similar pre-op diet but mine is 1200 calories and my NUT wants me to lose about 10 lbs before surgery (even though I don't have insurance approval yet). 1700 is fine. Your body needs a minimum of 1200 calories a day in order to prevent it from going into starvation mode. -
Same for me with eating LITTLE but BAD! I don't really eat often but everything I love is bad for me: Bread, Doritos, Taco Bell, Mexican, ANY Fried FOOD. I've been a vegetarian for 15 months and I still eat unhealthy foods. Ugh!

I think that's what's going to be the worst part of pre-op for me---waiting for the approval. I still have two visits and my psych. But hang in there! We're all pulling for you! -

ShineBright724 replied to ShineBright724's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mami you're right! I NEVER want to forget, it'll be my motivation for not going back! I'm definitely glad I found this site, it helps to have people who can understand what you're going through. I'm sorry about the marital troubles, make sure you're taking care of yourself and not dealing with less than you deserve! -
How long does the appointment last? What did the appointment consist of?

Psych Eval
ShineBright724 replied to ShineBright724's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I was just wondering what to expect. I'm getting butterflies as this is really nearing the end and I just want everything to go smoothly and get my approval! -
Hi everyone! I'm 24 and I'm having my psych eval in exactly one week and then submitting for insurance approval! I'm so nervous but I'm so excited! It's great to have a network of people in my age range that I can talk to about this stuff! Looking forward to getting to know you all! I'm from Michigan so would love to meet fellow Michiganders!

Almost to the pre-op diet...My story
ShineBright724 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone! I hope this is the appropiate forum, just a quick background about me. I'm a African-American female, 24 years old and I have decided to get the RNY. I had my gallbladder out in November 2012 and my surgeon said I had fatty liver from being overweight and should consider WLS. At first I was angry because I didn't see myself as extremely obese and needing WLS. I had converted to vegetarianism in March of 2012 and went from 330lbs to 290lbs. I thought that I was on a road to healthy lifestyle and felt more confident than I ever had. But I chose to go see the nutritionist and do some research about WLS and see hwat happens. As of last month I decided to start the paperwork and today after my 5th visit (I have to do 7 for insurance) I've decided to go with RNY. I've been reading the threads on here and talking to people who've had both sleeve, lap band, and RNY. I was nervous for a while and people keep telling me that there are easier ways to lose weight. But I feel as though I need real help! I want to live a long and healthy life and I want the outside to look how I feel on the inside. I have two visits left and my psych eval before they submit to the insurance company for approval. I'm so nervous; I'm scared they'll reject it and I will have gotten my hope up for nothing. Also, today I was given the pre-op diet. The nutritionist wants me to start earlier so that I'm not struggling 10 days before and I'll be used to it. Any suugesstions!? -
Almost to the pre-op diet...My story
ShineBright724 replied to ShineBright724's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's tough with summer and wanting to enjoy all the summer activities. I have so much going on but of like the surgery before the end of August so I'd hopefully be feeling normal for my 25th birthday in October! -
1) Congratulations! 2) I'm so jealous!! My surgeon doesn't submit for approval until I complete my last two NUT visits and psych eval. I'm nervous that I won't get approved and I'll be crushed especially now that I'm getting excited about it! Good luck with the procedure and can't wait to read your updates! When do you start the pre-op diet?

Thank you, I'll update every step of the way.
