    June Post Ops!

I'm 11 days post op and have always had pain in my right side, near the largest incision. The last few days I have been more active and the last few days I have been getting a sharp pain kinda in the middle of my abdomen prob about 4-5in above belly button. Is this normal? It's very sharp if I stand up too long or move certain ways. Lortab is the only thing that helps and that's only a little. I'm prob gonna call my surgeon in the morning but he's 2 hours away so I was Wondering If anyone had any insight?!

    Cocktail hour!

Do you have to have a cocktail? You can go out for a drink without it being alcoholic right? Just a thought.

    Smoking Questions

E-cigs have nicotine like regular cigarettes, just no any of the other stuff like tar. They helped me quit but I don't think they're a good alternative.

    June surgeries!

My surgeon said the same. For at least 3 months. Reduces acid in your stomach and decreases risk for ulcer in the beginning!
  9. I'm 1 week post op. Can I have sugar free candy to suck on? I have sugar free cinnamon candies that I love. It doesn't say yay or nay on my diet plan. And I'm not talking about sugar free chocolate or anything!

  12. I'm new to this forum. My surgery is scheduled for June 5, I really like my surgeon but his office staff is terrible. They never know where any of my stuff is, like my labs or EKG. They're rude, especially one woman in particular...she never listens to what I ask her, and she's hung up on me while I was talking before. The surgeon has a main office in San Antonio but they travel to like 8 other offices, I think that's why they're so disorganized. They want me to do my preop labs that I just did a few weeks ago, my tricare won't pay for the same tests less than a month later. I'm getting really frustrated and I almost don't even want to do this anymore. I quit smoking, I've done everything right, and I've hand delivered everything to their office so far (which is 2 hrs from where I live) HELP! I can't switch surgeons, my husband is getting out of the army and I have to have it done before my benefits are gone!!! Just needing some words of encouragement right now!!!!

So frustrated, ready to call it quits

Well, so far so good. I got thru my pre-op diet and I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow. I'm going to speak with their office manager once everything is done and over with. Thanks for the positive words everyone!
  16. How much meds did your docs let you stay on post surgery? I take 3 different meds for depression/ anxiety and I am worried about being able to continue them. I really want to avoid the post-op depression bit if at all possible....or at least reduce the severity!

    Medication?

    Good to know!

    pap smear question

From what I understand, many people can contract HPV and never know it, never come up positive, never have any symptoms. After something major like WLS your immune system is weakened, which causes the dormant HPV to come and rear it's ugly head. This also happens during pregnancy, your immune system becomes compromised and voila, all of a sudden you test positive. Don't freak out, just make sure you keep on top of your Pap smears!!!!

    Bruises?

You will bruise more easily now for 2 reasons. 1. The amount of iron in your body will be lower after surgery, which affects how easily you bruise. 2. There isn't as much "cushion" under your skin as there used to be. hope this helps a little! Don't freak out!
