  1. Wow, sounds kinda spooky. I throught I had done all my homework and learn all I needed to know. All the support group meetings I've gone to, I've heard nothing about this, the surgeon has never mentioned it, plus my wife is out 13 1/2 months RNY surgery and she went through nothing to do with hormones unless she was hiding it mighty well, because I watched her close to see how she done with RNY surgery.

I could only hope I go though it as smooth as she has I guess. ;-)

So I'm guessing what... I just ride through it and wait it out if it happens with me???

    Thanks everyone for your replies!

  2. Alright guys, I've just completed all my steps towards having RNY surgery and waiting for surgeon to give me a surgery date. Now tonight my wife tells me a man who has had RNY, told her that men's hormones go crazy after having surgery and we could go mean and such stuff.

Any of you have problems with hormones?

Fill me in on some info if you will? I don't want to go turning into some kind of monster or have to be shot like Old Yellow dog was... ;-)

    Thanks!

  3. FYI.... Not everyone will dump! But the size of your pouch will greatly limit your intake.

Really???? Oh wow, I've not heard that until now. I do know all the people I know that has had RNY does dump. But the surgeon hasn't told me some don't, maybe that's his way to keep me on track making me think before I think of pushing my limit. lol I don't know.

This might be a bad thing to say, but I hope I'm one that will dump.

  4. Reasons why I didn't chose lapband:

I don't like the idea of having a foreign implement.

I didn't like the idea of having the fills and maintenance

I didn't like the risk that it could burst or slip.

    Reasons why I chose RNY

Less of a chance of esophagus cancer.

Dumping will keep me in check.

Had the best history of success

    Better chance of weight loss.

Exactly why I'm picking RNY. I need to know I will dump and get sick if I don't follow the rules or I will cheat from time to time. I love ice cream and bread to much to back off on my own. I almost worship those two foods. lol

I've met and got to know a lot of people now who have had RNY done and each one is an awesome success.

  5. Hi Suznc! It was a lot of fun and can't wait to do another. It rained on us the whole time and the temps dropped down to feeling pretty cool and windy, but that really felt good over getting hot and sweating.

To be honest, never thought going into it that I'd finish, but I did finish and without stopping anywhere along the way for a rest. Dog tired but it really felt awesome when I was crossing that finish line!

Everyone needs to go a 5K, 10K, or whatever size race you can get into. :D

  6. The nice thing about a lot of 5k events is that walkers are welcome. Takes some of the pressure off to know you don't have to run the whole time or at all. :)

My wife and I are doing a 5K this Saturday (May 4) in Johns Creek, GA that does welcome walkers and runners. I can't run but I sure can walk it. This will be my first and I'm really looking forward to doing it. :)
