  1. I have done really well since surgery on 4/30. I'm down to 228 from starting at 320 on January 1st. I walk 4-5 miles a day and push it to 6 miles every once in a while. This is mainly a woman site so I won't be following the threads any longer. I have a great accountability partner, a wife that supports me, and I attend a support group for WLS patients once a month. Good luck to each of you and I pray you reach your WL goals and more importantly your goals in life.

  2. I added you but I have no idea how to work it yet! Lol

It's not hard to figure out..Hit the big orange "Record" button, then hit the "Start" button and start your walk. When your finished hit the "Stop" button, then save your workout. You'll do fine.

  3. York Hospital. My surgeon is Dr. Edward Garber. How did your surgery/recovery go? How long were you in the hospital and off work?

I went to York Hospital too. My surgeon is Dr. Monk. I had no problems at all. Very pleased with Dr. Monk, his staff and the York Hospital!

  6. Hi everyone' date=' I am 21 years old, 5'10'' and 340 lbs. My bmi is basically 50 (49.7)

I have 3 more weigh-ins for the insurance. My surgery should be around October. I want to see 180-190, am I being unrealistic? Also, I am still battling the bypass verses the sleeve, would you all mind sharing what made you choose RNY?[/quote']

I'm 55 years old, 5'10" and weighed 320 lbs on January 1, 2013. I was a diabetic for 4 years and hated it! I had high blood pressure too. 10 years ago I donated a kidney to my daughter. The diabetes attacks all major organs over time. I decided to have the RNY since the weight loss is usually better, the diabetes is usually gone and a close friend had the RYN and had great results. She has lost 139 lbs since August 30, 2012! I lost 35 lbs from January 1st until my surgery date on April 30th. I am now at 248 lbs. my diabetes is gone, my blood pressure is normal and I'm off all medicines! It was the best decision I've made in my life so far!!!

  7. I was 299 lbs on 1/15/13' date=' and lost 38 lbs before RNY on 4/29/13. At 7.5 weeks out, I have lost an additional 23 lbs. I wish I were losing more quickly, but at least I'm losing. But, if I look at the big picture, I've lost almost 60 lbs since January. Actually, I've only received a few comments about my weight loss. But I'm wearing a smaller clothes size and I feel better about myself. I can hardly wait until I get below 200 lbs. It will probably take months, but I am on my way. Anyone else losing this slowly?[/quote']

I weighed 320 lbs on 1/1/13. I lost 35 lbs before my RNY ON 4/30/13. I have lost another 35 lbs since my surgery. I am walking 3.5 miles at least 4-5 time per week. I am now 250 lbs. I've had a few stalls along the way. Be sure to get all your Protein in each day. I'm getting at least 80 grams of protein each day. I had problems drinking enough, but drinking has been much better the last 2 weeks. Hang in there, we all loose at different rates! Have a happy Summer!!

  9. Just spent 6 hrs. In emergency room with severe pain on left side. Can't drink anything. Thet didn't find anything so now thinking it is just gas. What the heck. What can I do to get rid of this gas pocket in my pouch. I have stopped all milk products. Heard you can become lactrose intolerant have taken some gas x am walking but it's not moving. Right now I can drink or et anything without severe pain. hELP

Walk as much as you can. I walked everyday. I skipped 3 days because my knee hurt and got gas pains. As soon as I started walking again, the pain went away. Just walk as much as you can, even if it's only around the block at first. I'm one month out and I walk 3 miles per day and I feel great! Good luck to you and have a happy day!! :)

I went back to work a week ago. It went a little slow at first, but I am back in the groove now. I walk 3 miles per day. I have a walking partner that is 9 months post op and has lost 130 lbs! My wife is very supportive and she is on a medical diet as well. She has lost 13 lbs in the last month! A few things that I feel help me are the support of my family & friends, I have a accountability partner that won't let me slack, I attend a RYN support group one a month and I NEVER want diabetes or high blood pressure again! 11. 9 days out today. Walking 2 miles per day. Hoping to be up to 3 miles by this time next week. I'm down 10 lbs since my surgery day weight. Went for my follow up on Monday, doc says all looks good. He said wait until 3-4 months out and I'll really be excited about my results! I'm off all meds!! Blood sugar & blood pressure are normal....Yay!! I had the surgery mainly to get my blood sugar & blood pressure under control since I only have 1 kidney. So far it has worked!!

  12. I have been moody since I got home last wednesday. And today i just feel totally deflated and depressed. Nothing specific really ( other than fighting with hubby).

I still have my drain and it leaks so strolling around the neighborhood sucks. :(

I came home on Wednesday too. I had my follow up today and they took out my drain and all the stitches. I feel pretty good. Fasting blood sugar was 73 this morning with normal blood pressure. PTL! It is hard to get the Water in. Today I started my liquid diet and had 1 oz of potato Soup and 1 oz of SF pudding for lunch & dinner. I had one Protein Drink today. I use the Bariatric Advantage vanilla. I put a pinch of SF Jello mix in with 2 scoops of powder, mix it with about 8 oz of water and it is pretty good. I get 27 grams of Protein out of the drink. Tomorrow I will drink one in the morning and one in the afternoon to get my protein in for the day. So far, so good. I take walks around the neighborhood and feeling better each day. I am praying for those that are struggling on here. Stay strong and remember why you decided to have the surgery. God bless!

  13. Not to good.

Ate about 1/4 of a cup of soup' date=' yogurt and pudding for lunch. (All together 1/4 cup)

Ate about 1/8 cup of yogurt for dinner.< /p>

Just keeping the Water in my hand all the time.

    Not feeling to good.

The hospital had living on water and Jello since Monday, so its been pure hell and I wish I could turn back time.

Also on 2 meds, 3 times a day, which make me want to puke.

    :([/quote']

Praying for you Rem, get through this rough and remember why you decided to have the surgery. I'm sure they will get you headed down the right road soon. I will keep you in my prayers. Keep us updated.

  14. Well just got taken to ER I may have something wrong' date=' that's why I'm not sleeping.[/quote']

Sorry to hear that Paul. I hope they find out what is going on. My prayers are with you.

  15. My surgery was April 30th. I still have a drain in. I empty the drain 4 times per day. So far I recorded 15.8 oz of fluids removed since I came home on May 1st. My follow up is tomorrow. The doctor said he will remove the drain during the appointment. It hasn't been a issue or a problem.

    HW: 320 CW: 287 GW: 175 WLS: 4/30/13

  16. Thanks alc for your encouragement. I've only been home 24 hours' date=' but I am sick to death of clear liquids. I have another week of that to go. Dr. said I may have to go an additional week of clear liquids while everything is healing. It is so strange to eat nothing, while the family sits around eating and snacking. I know this is what I signed up for, but I didn't think I'd be so sick. I hope that each day will show improvement. So far I'm up one pound, but I knew to expect that because of all the IV fluids they gave me in the hospital. I will need to lean on this site, because although my family is supportive, they don't seem to "get it".[/quote']

Just remember, this is the beginning of the rest of your life! You can do it! We all can do it! We are here for you when you need someone who understands what you are going through! Stay strong and may God bless you!!
