  1. Got into a size 11 junior jeans. And I am 57 yrs old.
  2. I am 57 and am 18 months out and loving life. Have lost 115 lbs. no problems at all.
  3. I have lost 100% of my weight. Went from 265 to 151. How much you lose and how far you go is completely up to you.. The surgery is just a tool. The surgery will work for you, but you have to work for it..

    Said no to pizza!

Congrulations. I still eat pizza. I will eat the cheese and toppings and leave the crust. That is hubby's favorite part so he gets all my crust.
  5. Just remember just because you don't now, doesn't mean you won't later.. I am 18 months out and I have been one of those that sugar hasn't bothered until last week. Had a small piece of birthday cake everything was fine, then about 30, 45 minutes later, got nauseous, light headed, heart racing, shakes, dizzy. Not fun. So again moral here is just because you don't, doesn't mean you won't..I know I can't do anything greasy, but the sugar took me by surprise.

How fast do you drink your liquids?

I am 18 months out and I will get sick if I drink to fast. Gotta take small drinks.

    Does everyone do this

I am 18 months out and I have never thrown up food, now water is a whole other animal.. I get sick on water all the time. I just have to take little drinks and I am ok. It is not normal to throw up daily. Check with your dr.

    did anyone think. ....

I once had someone tell me the surgery didn't work for someone they knew. The truth is it did work for her, she lost the weight, she didn't work for it, she gained the weight back. We all know this is not a magic pill, we have to work to maintain, no diet, this is a lifestyle change.. I've lost 116.4 lbs since 5/20/13, and I know I will be thin for life!

    Sardines

Becareful because the oil can make you sick. If you can find them in water, better choice.

6 wks post op and something isn't right

I had the same problem. Had to slow down my eating. When I started waiting a minute between bites the feeling of it being in my throat stopped. My voice would even change. It was strange. Wait longer between bites and see what happens.
  12. I am 5'7". I started at 265.6 when I had my surgery on May 20, 2013. I weighed this morning I am 151.4. You will lose as much as you want to. Remember the surgery is just a tool, how you use it and how far you go is up to you. I think Drs. Say that so if people don't lose a lot they won't be disappointed. Good luck and don't give up. It will happen..
  13. Believe it or not, I fought with it until I had surgery.. Don't know why but when I woke up it was gone. I have since lost 115 lbs. and it is just starting to rear its ugly head again.

    Sugar

I am a 18 months out and am one of those that sugar doesn't bother. Until today. Had a small piece of birthday cake and thought I was going to die. Fast heart rate, nauseous, shakes. It lasted about a hour. So just because you don't, doesn't mean you won't. I will be a lot more careful from now on. Dumping is not fun.

    PB2

Instead of using water I have used a ready to drink premier chocolate shake. Makes it a little thicker and adds more protein. This stuff is like crack to me. I have to have an apple everyday with my pb2.

    MAY 2013 POST-OP GROUP

It is hard to believe that it has been a year already. Had my surgery 5/20/2013. I am down 107 lbs, at drs goal but would like to lose about 10, 15 more pounds. Not a lot of foods bother me. Found out sugar doesn't bother me, but things with high fat and/or fried foods tear me up. I can eat the same food as long as it is not fried. I can do fries in the oven, but not in a fiier..just had one fry and thought I was gonna die. Won't do it again. Can't wait to open our pool and get some swimming in. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. I am loving my new life. How is everyone else doing a yr post op?
  20. My husband and me met some friends yesterday for lunch I am 11 months out have lost 103 lbs have 2 more lbs to goal. So I am very mindful of what I can and can not eat. I found out a while back that sugar does not bother (shucks) but I treat it like it does. What I have heard is just because it doesn't once doesn't mean it won't. Anyway looking at the menu they had grilled shrimp. So I thought to myself sounds like a good choice so that is what I ordered. We'll it came saturated in butter. I took every piece and squeezed it in my napkin to remove all the excess butter, it was actually pretty good. Sat for about 30 minutes after eating enjoying conversation with friends. We said our goodbyes hubby and I got in car and headed home. Coming down Our road I got the worse pain in my stomach that I have ever had in my life, told hubby he better get me home quick (we were 2 houses from ours at the time the pain hit) I got out of car and $hit started flying every where. There was nothing I could do. I could not move. I am just glad we didn't stop at the store. We live kinda out in the country so I went around back took off my pants and hosed myself down. My poor hubby didn't know what to do. He was kinda paralyzed to. This is not something I want to happen ever again. Has this happened to anyone else besides me and Al Roaker? So if you are not a sugar dumper doesn't mean you won't dump on other things. Some people sugar, some high fat, some grease. It is kinda funny now, not at the time it was happening.
  21. Today I finally hit 100 lbs. had surgery May 20th, 2013. I was considered a light weight since I only had a hundred to lose. This is not the first time I have been at goal, not even the second I think. But it will be the last time. I promise. I am not doing it again. This time is different for alot of reasons. First, surgery.. Second I am no longer on a diet, I am living. I have learned to eat to live instead of living to eat. My sweet tooth is gone, I eat healthy, protein is very easy for me to get. I do very little carbs, take my vitamins and feel and look pretty good. I am loving life. If anyone is having doubts about having the surgery don't. I have not had any problems, can eat any food and would do it again in a heartbeat. As DL says I AM loving my new life, and you will too.
