    tea

does anyone know why the drs./nutritionists don't want you to drink tea, once you have had the surgery?
  5. my surgery was 26 april. in the time since, i have lost 13 pounds but think that i should have lost more. is anyone able to tell me if i am doing well, or need to work harder? thanks.
  6. my surgery will be friday 26 april. thanks for the well wishes. here's wishing you well too!
  7. My dr. (jose parodi, toledo hospital, toledo ohio) has me on the 2 week liquids only diet. i have gone off of it twice, the second day when i had a severe headache (i think sugar craving) and about a week later when i had the urge all day to just chew something. i was told this would help shrink the liver so they could access the stomach better. of course, i am also having a lap band removed at the same time, so that could have something to do with his plan, also. after surgery, i am required to remain on the 2 week liquids and then 2 week pureed.
  8. hi! i am 58, and my lap band reversal to gastric bypass is scheduled next fri, 26th. my doctor put me on the protein shake diet last week, along with 2 clear snacks a day. i will also remain on that for 2 weeks after. i was told it was to shrink the liver, just like you were. i hope they are able to explain and remedy the pain in your stomach.
  9. i just started on my pre surg appt, too. i have 2 weeks before surgery. my dr. has me on a protein shake diet with a snack in between breakfast and lunch. my limit for the meals are 8oz only. the snacks can consist of jello (yuck), broth, clear juice, sugar free popsicles,& v8-splash, i have to say it is killing me, especially cooking for the family and not picking something up to eat. i am required to do at least 15 minutes of exercise a day. i also am anxious to start this journey and while waiting on insurance approval, put 5 # on in about 2 weeks, knowing i was doing so. i am forcing myself to follow the dr. orders, though, and imagining after a few days (praying actually) my body and MIND will become used to this new regimen. all i can say is the next 2 weeks can't go fast enough. i think you have to have enough confidence that the decision you made to have this surgery is the best one for you and your family. remembering the reasons to get the surgery and enforcing those memories in your weak moments should make it a little easier to watch what you are eating, control how much you eat, and begin playing with your children for at least a little bit, each day. these are things you're going to HAVE to do after the surgery for it to be successful, so might as well get started and get used to your new lifestyle now. good LUCK!
