    hospital stay

    In Tuesday, out Thursday.
  2. I haven't been brave enough to try salads yet. Eggs and cheese do it to me every time, though. Of course, I forget that they don't agree with me and eat it and then feel like crud for a couple hours. They were a staple for me in the first 4weeks post-op. it's crazy how things change!

    In mourning...

yes! I can barely get through 2/3rds of a small baked chicken tender and a couple bites of veggies. I still can't believe how much I used to pack in. On a binge day, I could easily consume a bag of chips, a pint of ice cream, all three meals in giant proportions, a 2-liter of diet coke. I would literally eat all day, by the end of the day, I was so uncomfortable that I just wanted to curl up and die. I don't remember waking up hungry, ever. I am glad that I can't eat like that anymore.
  5. My name is Amber. I turned 27 in March. My husband and I have been married since 9/11/06. We have 3 children, 1 girl and 2 boys, ages 5, 4, and 2. My husband is active duty Army(he was a police officer until the end of 2009). We are currently stationed up here at Ft. Carson, CO. We are both originally from Palm Bay, FL which is 45 minutes east of Disney! My mother had me at the ripe old age of 13, so needless to say, I never knew my biological father(though, I did reach out to him when I was 20). I grew up barefoot on the Indian River, and while we were poor as dirt, I had a pretty good childhood. My great-grandfather was my hero. I spent most of my youth with him and learned so much about life and values. I haven't always been a such a chunker granted I was "thicker" in high school I was about 165 at 5'8. I have 3 younger siblings, the youngest is only 13 and he is definitely the baby of the family. I am a stay at home mom, though I go to college. We are Disney junkies, even more so as adults then we were as kids. We vacation there as often as humanly possible and nerd it up with matching t-shirts. I can't wait to go back and ride ALL the rides with my kiddos without feeling way oversized. My husband is getting out of the Army very soon and we will be moving to northern Tenn. to be close to family. I am a Steelers fan, and LOVE the UF Gators. I read in my spare time, nothing is better than a good book. I plan on having another baby, hopefully no later than 30, though it may be later since we have to wait so long post-op.
  6. Now that the AMA has declared obesity a disease, do you think that more insurances will cover weight loss surgery and the ones that already do, they will cover a higher percentage? I am also wondering if WLS will become the standard treatment for obesity, as opposed to years of failed dieting, pills, and exercising. Maybe this "official" title of disease will help the obesity epidemic and bring more awareness to the situation.
  7. if you scroll down the list of forums, there is a pregnancy one. Good luck!
  8. I dream about med-rare filets all the time with lobster mac and cheese....yummy. I have avoided eating out so far, but the first meal out is going to be that!
  9. Today marks 50 pounds lost since surgery! Kind of hard to believe. Has anyone else noticed that strangers smile more often, or that people in the grocery store strike up conversations, where as they didn't before? Was I that scary at 273 that no one wanted to talk to me? LOL! Glad to not be such an outcast by society's norms anymore.
  10. Probably nothing to worry about, though you do have a great risk of being iron deficient. Maybe give the on-call nurse a call?

    Friday Weigh-In!

228! Woo! That darn scale is finally moving again....
  13. I am far too body conscious still, though I LOVE being in the water, I can't wait until I feel comfortable enough in my own skin to be in a public pool!
  14. I know they have one each year in Las Vegas!
  15. I guess I just expected it to be a steady loss? Bah.
  16. I have been teetering between 230 and 233 for over a week now, I want to scream! I have been quite self-defeating as well, and feel like this just isn't working. I know it is part of the "process", but geez. It's like my body is protesting the 220's I can't imagine how it will be if I get into "onederland". Anyone else just feel like it isn't working?

    My Benji and I!

    From the album: Me!

    5 weeks post-op!
  18. So far, I've had one dumping episode. It was the cursed oatmeal, and I seriously though I was going to die. My poor husband looked so darn helpless!
  19. If my husband says "Oh my god, this is delicious! Here, have a bite" and then proceeds to push his fork in my face one more time, I may SCREAM!!!! Rant over!

    Milestone!

    Great job!
  24. I am 1 month post op today! Time seems to be flying by. Down from 273 to 235, and I cannot wait to be under 200. Haven't been there since 2005. Doing pretty well with food, visited the nut today and she said everything is great, and apparently I am getting all my protein, despite not drinking protein shakes anymore. I should probably record how much I am getting each day, but with 3 kids on summer break, that really isn't possible. I hope everyone is doing well!
  25. Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Building muscle helps you lose fat/ burn calories faster, though!
