  1. Wallace is my surgeon for bypass on January 6. I'd love to know how anyone's experience was with him and the team.

Dr. Wallace was my surgeon it was my 1 year anniversary on 11/19. He is excellent and by the book. I've had no complications thus far and being that he started the program at Froedtert it gave me even more confidence in his abilities. I'd say you are in very good hands.

  2. hello my name is nikki and im new to the site im only 200 lbs but i have diabetes, high blood pressure, reflex, high cholesteroil and im looking forward to leaving most if not all my meds behind everyday it seems like it gets harder and harder for being sick,im just ready for a new start my surgery is set for this tuesday dec. 3 IM SO HAPPY

    Hey Nikki

I had the surgery for the exact same reasons but I was 229 pounds I had the surgery on November 19. I only went home testing my blood sugar and on my blood pressure medicine. I can truly say it was worth it. No complications so far thank God!!!!

  3. Okay Novembers! How are ya'll doing?! I know we have a whole other group coming through in a couple days!! I go on Friday - what are you guys feeling?! Updates on your diets?? And...GO!!!

I had surgery yesterday morning and it went great. Still in a little pain but they've been managing it pretty well. Having a puréed lunch of yogurt chicken and apple sauce in a couple of minutes

  4. This is my introduction:

I'm DVGUY and my date on the table is set for Tuesday 11/19. I considered this surgery 5 years ago but in the 6 month dr supervised diet I got real serious and lost 80 pounds, no longer qualifying. I worked my butt off and seriously dieted to lose the weight. Of course, I burned out and the weight came right back.

Today my knees are no longer allowing me to do the kind of exercising I once did and I haven't been able to kick myself onto another long program to try to get this off again. In January of this year I decided to look again at surgery. Since then I only lost around 20 lbs in order to disqualify myself from insurance rules.

I ready to begin this process again and looking to the WLS to be the tool I need to do this at a more moderate pace that can be sustainable for the rest of my life.

I'm glad I have found this web site and look forward to sharing and learning from all of you. I wish you all well on your efforts and I'll update you on my progress.

    DVGUY

I'll be on the table too! Good luck!

So will I good luck guys!!!

  5. Are you having to go through a lot of testing like I am? Will be so glad when that part is done. Then I will know for sure it is real.

I go for my seminar on 10/16 then per admitting on 11/11 they said I should know all the test I will need after the pre-op seminar. I'm ready to get this done still scared and excited though. I'm buying a rollaway bed because I'll be at my moms house the week after surgery because I know I won't be able to do stairs for a while.

  6. I weigh 225 but what I am most excited about the surgery is a cure for my diabetes' date=' high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and reflux. I can't believe how wonderful it would be to wake up and not have to take a container full of medication. In my support group a lady with diabetes, taking 11 diabetes pills a day, left the hospital only taking 1 pill and that was only because of such an extreme family history of diabetes. Also, looking good in pants wont hurt! [/quote']

Wow Judy we are kindred spirits I weigh 228 and suffer from the exact same things and it's the reason I'm having the surgery as well. So not only are we having surgery the same day we have identical stories!!! That's awesome that we are going through identical journeys

  7. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes four years ago with an a1c of 15. The doctor told me that it was the highest she had ever worked with. With diabetes came the high blood pressure, high cholesterol and acid reflux. I was started on insulin right away and hated it. I was able to come off the insulin in 6 months and was happy. This last year has been a struggle. I'm back on insulin with an a1c of 13. My doctors told me that I would be a very sick women if I don't get this under control. There starts my journey into wls. I started at 240 pounds and am now at 228. While losing the weight will be great losing the disease will be better. I believe that God is working in my favor. I had my last weigh in 9/20/13. I was approved and had my surgery date on 9/24/13. Now my surgery is scheduled for 11/19/13 and I can't be more excited and scared at the same time. Thanks for listening and letting me talk about it.
