I was told to never use a straw bc it allows for air to fill your pouch instead of what your drinking. I triple checked this info bc I LOVE drinking with a straw!!

It really is interesting how different our doctors are. I won't have stitches they use glue. And I don't have the blue ice chip test. They do the leak test while I'm still in surgery. Oh well! Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I'm starting to freak out a bit. But I know it's for the best.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say good luck to those going in tomorrow and looks like those who have had surgery already are doing great. These next ten days can't go by fast enough. Preop appt on Monday 4/22 and liquid diet starts Friday 4/26. What are some questions to ask at preop. I feel like with everything that has gone on in my life the last few weeks I can't think to make this list.

I got the unflavored protein. Chick broth and cheese sauce from unjury and so far they are great. Not sure if I will like them after surgery but hopefully I will. You can get there welcome kit for $21 I think which has a decent selection to try.

Good luck to everyone this week! We are headed to Antigua for our nephews funeral. 3 weeks left and they can't come soon enough. We need something positive in our lives. We had a house fire on 3/16 that set my routine back a bit. Once I get back I will only have 2 weeks! Prayers for everyone this week.

Well I had my psych eval yesterday. That was the last of the appointments for me. Doc office submitted my paperwork and in less than an hour I was approved. Doc office too busy this month to take me before so the 29th becomes my official date!! Yay! So excited. It can't come fast enough. Good luck to you all.

Yea I definitely understand that. I just meant they will be able to figure it out from the pft.

I had my pft while sick with a horrendous cold. If your still coughing tell them your getting over a cold they should help you to get a clearer reading. It mite be a pain cuz you have to repeat parts of the test but its worth not having to go back. I just got my pulmonary clearance last week. I was glad for the chest X-ray and pft. They finally figured out why the common cold kicks me on my bumm!

So I got my pulmonary clearance today. All that's left is my psych appt and final weigh in. 30 days. April here we come!!

I actually just had the flu and sinusitis really bad. I saw my surgeon on Wednesday and actually asked him. He said there is no problem at all. They get concerned if its a stomach thing in which case they would do a blood test and/or scope to check the stomach. No worries.

Hello! I will be having GB on 4/29/13. I was diagnosed w diabetes about 11 years ago. I was 19 swore I'd take care of it with diet and excercise. And then life happened. I got busy. Diabetes wasn't gonna effect me. I'd be fine. Well 3 miscarriages later the on call doc at the hospital told me he would bet his medical license it was my sugars not allowing me to carry to term. Lots of trials w meds and two more miscarriages later. I'm on 2000 mg metformin, 60 units lantus, 12 units of apidra at every meal. My hope is to never have to take another shot again. I'm looking for an ideal family size not an ideal pant size. Although now that its getting closer I can't wait to buy my first evening gown that is different than what my 60 yr old plus size aunt wears !! I look forward to hearing your success stories. Insurance policies and coverages and companies are not cookie cutter. It plays a big role in this process. My aunt and I are doing this together. She had to stop the process last year when her employer changed insurance providers and they required being on that plan for one year before even consulting with a rny surgeon. I have a 6 month wait she has a four month wait. I pay no copays she pays 20. My surgery is completely covered she pays 30% out of pocket. I had to have 6 weigh ins, nutritionist, pulmonary, heart group and xray, blood work, psych. she had to have 4 weigh ins, blood work, psych and nutritionist. In our doc office there is someone dedicated to working with the insurance company on the patients behalf and knowing exactly what the requirements are with each insurance company. Just saying Happy Sunday! 48 days!!!

Well I started in November and my doc gave me a surgery date of April 29. I still need pulmonary clearance (3/20) and have to see the heart care group (3/28) and psych eval (4/5). They will submit to the insurance on 4/10 after my last weigh in and appt with doc. Starting to get nervous, mostly about the first few weeks post-op. Good luck everyone!

Most of them depend on your insurance. My surgery is 4/29 I started the process on 11/13 and I've had to have pulmonary clearance, chest X-ray, bloodwork, nutritionist and psych. Some docs want more, the initial doc I saw wanted a sleep study, scope of the stomach for bacteria. The way I see it it's all worth seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck!
