  1. When was your surgery and where are you now with your weight?
  2. In my workshop last week they discussed body image, how we perceive ourselves. They said many people who lose weight cannot get used to the idea of being smaller. In their mind they are always big. I am the opposite. In my mind I am small. I didn't become heavy until the birth of my twins 27 yrs ago, when I was 26 yrs old. Before that my weight ranged from 110-120. Afterward, my weight went from 175 all the way up to 230. (I'm 5ft tall) In my mind I picture myself the way I used to be. It's always a total shock to catch a glimpse of my reflection in a window or mirror. I think 'Oh my God! That is NOT ME!' I am horrified! It really HURTS my mind to see me like that. And there have not been any photos taken of me in YEARS. I simply have not allowed it. If anything ever happens to me my family will have no photos of me at all. Losing weight for me will make my outside match my inside again. I look forward to welcoming 'me' back.
  3. My son can eat a 2lb box of mozzarella sticks as a SNACK! He makes giant 1-2 lb burgers, and eats whole lg pizzas. Then he works out for several hours at the gym. Not an oz of fat on him! My son, but not many of my genes... Lol
  4. For 27 yrs I have passed Victoria's Secret by in the mall, secretly stealing longing looks in the windows as I passed by. I understand how wonderful it must make you feel to be able to wear such pretty things. What woman doesn't want to feel sexy? Congratulations! Maybe I'll be shopping there before the holidays...
  5. Key word here being 'little'. Can't wait! Lol
  6. I want to wear a LBD for the holidays this year. I've never had a LBD...
  7. I have my surgery date... finally!!! May 30! Yay! I was hoping for the 23rd but they said my doctor had a complicated surgery that day that could take six plus hours so they didn't schedule anyone else. Countdown now... :-)
  8. Today is my 31st wedding anniversary! :-) I am mother to 26 yr old twin girls, one a marine biologist and the other a wildlife conservation biologist. I also have a 22 yr old son in the USMC. He's coming back from deployment soon so I'll get to see him for a few weeks this summer. No grandchildren yet... but when they come along I'll be healthy and energetic enough to enjoy them, thanks to rny. :-)
  9. I've met all my requirements, got my insurance approval, but STILL have no date. Stressing and waiting impatiently for the person who schedules surgery to call me. I damn near dropped my phone at work today trying to answer it before it went to voicemail. Then it was only a Sprint survey call!
  10. I'll check out Amazon. Where they full size bottles or were they samples?
  11. Good idea. Should I wait till after surgery to even try them? Since it seems everyones tastes seem to change later? I don't know if I can trust what I might like right now, especially after what I have read.
  12. Hair loss is caused by stresses to your body and take several months AFTER the fact to occur. By the time you SEE hair loss the event that CAUSED it is already months in your past so there is nothing you can do about it. Some causes are: major surgery, extreme weight loss, diet changes or restrictions, all of which we experience. Things you can do to help MINIMIZE hair loss are: take biotin starting before surgery, eat all your protein, avoid harsh chemicals (hair color, perm). To help you deal with hair loss use gentle hair products that don't weigh down your hair and try a new haircut. Some other supplements are thought to be helpful. Important to remember: THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY. THE HAIR LOSS WILL STOP. YOUR HAIR WILL GROW BACK! Like the surgery itself this is just something else we endure on the way to our goal to be healthy.
  13. I had all my requirements done a month ago and got my insurance preauth approval two weeks ago. They have my surgery 'possibly' on the 23rd but won't commit until they get the letter from my cardiologist re my stress test. I had my stress test a whole month ago! And his office is only a mile and a half from my surgeon's office. Everything else only took a couple of days to get from wherever to my doctors office. I'm so STRESSED right now. My window of opportunity is small (re trying not to have a negative impact on work). Tomorrow I'm making phone calls...
  14. Sounds delicious! I'm going to to write this one in my recipe collection.
