  1. Hi guys' date=' checking in. I have been at a standstill for the last 2 weeks and it is getting frustrating. I hit onderland and boom it stopped. I have been 198-199 for two weeks. I have been working out a lot and trying to get all of my fluids and Protein in. I get between 700-100 cal a day depending on the day and 90-110 g protein. Sometimes my Water intake is not as much as it could be but, I am trying. I am really hoping to start losing again. I have a long way to go![/quote']

I know what you mean! I've been stuck between 170 and 171 for a couple of weeks. It's annoying. We got used to the quick weight loss and we have to let our bodies catch up. I weigh myself every day which I know I shouldn't do, but I can't stop myself. You are doing so great! Hang in there.

  2. I'm almost 6 weeks out and the weight loss is starting to slow. How much did you guys average out at per week? How much had you lost by the 3 month mark? What about 6 months?

I'm about 10 weeks out and hit my first major stall 2 weeks ago. I've been about the same weight now for a couple of weeks. Prior to that I averaged 3 to 5 pounds a week.

  3. Hi all' date='

I'm hoping for some advice. I had surgery on 3-27-13 and I am still not able to keep anything down other than greek yogurt and sugar free pudding. Has anyone else experienced this?? I feel like I have no energy. I am using the Syntrax nectar to get at least some Protein in me. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks![/quote']

I kind of went through that after some complications, but I just keep at it. The main thing is getting in Water and Protein, even if you have to do it in baby sips and bites. If you're still puking and not even holding down Water you could have a stenosis that will have to be enlarged by your surgeon with endoscopy. It's eat to get dehydrated and get into a vicious cycle of nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. Drink all day if you have to....that's what I do. Best of luck...I hope it gets better or you.

  4. Hi There: I'm happy to find this group for March 2013 Post-Op new-lifers. Somehow I kept missing it when scanning the Group Listings. Now I have a home <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I am located in Indiana' date=' outside of Indianapolis, and had my RNY surgery at St. Francis Hospital on March 22, 2013. My excellent surgeon is Hazem N. Shamseddeen. I had a 3-day hospital stay, from which my daughters kidnapped me for 10 days to monitor my progress, and make sure I was returning to a bariatric-friendly home. My grandkids knew where all of my stashes were and and also worked with their mom to clear-out my pantry. The 2-week AM and PM shots, Protein supplement powder, and chewable calcium citrate Vitamins have been my greatest challenges so far. I have always hated shots and can't stand the taste of the Protein & Calcium. I recently obtained recipes for mixing the protein powder in meals and Snacks, which sounds more workable. My favorite drink for years has been Water with ice. I miss being able to drink it the way I'm used to--which I realize now has been turning-up the sippycup and guzzling big portions of that cool refreshing liquid. Now when I forget--I suffer with a big freeze and pain. My weight in March was 334 & now one-month later it is 304. I look forward to our exchanges of information and encouragement. [/quote']

Welcome! If anyone ever tells you this is the easy way out, you have my permission to smack them. Sounds like you are doing great with your weight loss. That calcium is a booger to get down. I have problems with it also. I had a bit of a hiccup 3 weeks post op, but doing better now. Best of luck on your journey, and welcome to the board. We have a Facebook page for march group also. Let us know your name on there and I'm sure one of the girls will be glad to add you.

  5. You were not alone with the crying and whining and vomit! I sure had my times. I think I just also had a great set of doctors' date=' surgeons, and nurses who all tried to keep my spirits up with their positive attitudes. Recovery is still day to day. I haven't started back on Vitamins, can't get all my fluids or Protein in yet, still have some pain from where my drain was, and sure not getting exercise in yet. Just trying to improve each day <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> When I got out I didn't regret the surgery but I was having thoughts of what did I do to myself. After a few days of being home I started to feel much better about it. The hardest part is trying not to judge where I am in my journey on weight loss and what I can eat since I am still on full liquids against others who had surgery around the same time. I think the most important thing is to focus on your recovery of your health first vs the weight loss. The loss will come. Our health is most important. Take your recovery nice and slow. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

You are absolutely right. The weight loss part isn't my biggest concern...I would just like to be healthy at this point. I was actually astonished at how much weight I've lost since I was in the hospital. I was expecting the Fluid from the IV's to cause more weight gain, but I'm down to 189 now. I'm just trying to eat all day so I get some nutrition in. Vitamins I seem to be doing ok with...the Water and protein are much more difficult.

  6. Wow. I hope everything starts going better for you. I had almost the same thing happen except I was only one week post op. I also spent 16 days in the hospital. It's been slow going since getting out. Take it one day at a time. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Thank you...I thought about you while I was in the hospital...and how positive you've been. All I did was cry and whine and occasionally vomit. My attitude was not as exemplary unfortunately. I am glad you are recovering well. Any regrets since you had some problems? I'm trying not to regret it, but it sure. Is hard not to.

  7. WOW' date=' what happened? So glad to hear you are home and doing well.[/quote']

Thank you...home, but still not great...wish I felt better. I had a tear 3 weeks post op that leaked into the retroperitoneal space. I was in with retroperitonitis for 2 weeks. I honestly thought I wasn't going to make it. I am hoping to at least get some sort of appetite back. Everything makes me want to hurl, but I'm on a butt load of antibiotics still so hoping that's some of it.

  8. I've missed reading up on everyone. I'm 4 weeks post op and readmitted to the hospital yesterday. I will likely be here for a week or so. I thought I had pulled a muscle in the left side last week, but after a couple of days of icky fever and a CT scan it turns out I have "retroperitoneal inflammation involving lymph nodes". I'm a wound care nurse so I only heard blah blah blah. Google tells me it's a big deal, but there seems to be no consensus on the cause. If its not related to my RNY surgery I have seriously bad timing. Hope the world is treating everyone else a bit kinder.

Kraney...thinking of you always. Get better soon.
