Nuts, Protein bars, fat free/light popcorn puffs, fat free Ritz crackers, wheat thins, string cheese, baby bell cheese, laughing cow cheese wedges.
Not that many options in the sweets department but plenty of salty choices.
As for drinks: Water (add Crystal Light to it) or Lipton Half/Half (light version).

Heck no, absolutely no regrets. I wish I could have had this surgery 10+ years ago. I wasted all my youth on being miserable, embarrassed, worthless, ugly and hating myself. Such a shame!
The first few months will prove to be difficult as with any kind of major surgery but it's so beyond worth it. No more medications for all the hundred pains in each corner of your body, no more elevated blood pressure and being told you are close to a heart attack, no more sweating like a waterfall, no more crying in the changing room, no more judgement because of your size and no more days where you want to hide yourself from the world and live secluded from humanity because you can't fit in.
All these generals make this surgery a blessing to obese folk.

I would privately speak with the brother who had WLS and confess. Ask him to respect your need of keeping your WLS private.
You mentioned how everybody treats him poorly. As a bullied person yourself, don't you think, you should speak up and not allow for him to be bullied like you were for so long?
I can only imagine how miserable he must feel and his thoughts at the end of the day.
Don't bother sparring your B/F's feelings, bother helping the one who had WLS and is being treated like he's worthless.
I would ditch those so called friends in a heartbeat. Honestly, your B/F doesn't seem to be any better, either. He is the type of man I personally run from eating the ground on my way.
    Good luck to ya!

Yup, have to join everyone else - absolutely no regrets other than wishing I had done it twenty years earlier. The nerves before surgery are perfectly normal. I'd worry more about folks who aren't nervous than those who are.
You're about to embark on a life-changing journey that will dramatically improve almost every aspect of your life. It's very difficult to put that in perspective for anyone - you really have to experience it to understand. So I just leave it at - you're gonna love the new you!!

I one MAJOR regret! I soooooo wish I would have been able to do this 20 years ago!
There are challenges and you'll learn a tonne about yourself. But this is the best thing I've done for myself.
    good luck!

I told only the souls that needed to know. My MIL+FIL, husband and my ex-friend and her husband ... aaaand who ever in my husband's unit indirectly had to be told (Red Cross message). I've been keeping it that way ever since surgery. It's a personal choice that feels right with me. You have to do what feels right for you.

Everyone has to decide who they will tell and even if they will tell. Most folks are supportive but there most definitely are exceptions so if you decide to tell everyone, you might benefit from preparing yourself mentally for a negative reaction or two. Those negative reactions often come in the form of "I had this friend/relative/co-worker..." followed by some horror story. There are roughly 200,000 bariatric surgeries performed in the U.S. alone every year. If you or the person telling the story personally knew 2,000 folks who had a "bad experience" following bariatric surgery, that would be one percent of the surgery population for a single year. Bottom line - the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor of having a successful, life changing experience.
Personally, I told friends and family as the opportunities arose. I didn't go out of my way to make any kind of group announcement. But I also didn't hesitate to tell anyone that expressed an interest. My reasoning was that sooner or later folks were going to know anyway. Lose 100+ pounds and people will notice. I was fortunate that everyone was very supportive. But I was prepared for negative reactions had they occurred. I had done the research, knew exactly what I was getting into, and almost certainly had a great deal more knowledge of the risks and benefits of the surgery than anyone who might have felt compelled to try to persuade me otherwise.

Second guessing yourself or the process is the enemy. There is no schedule for stalls and no way to accurately predict how long they will last. But...as long as you are following the protocol and in the absence of a medical problem, there is absolutely no doubt that you will continue to lose weight. No doubt. Burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight. Sometimes quickly. Sometimes more slowly. And sometimes not at all for a period of time. All perfectly normal. But sooner or later, you will lose weight. Science and the universe cannot be denied. Recognize that. Embrace the reality. Remind yourself, every day. Your goal is physical change but your challenge is mental discipline.
Persistence, along with absolute belief, can never be defeated.

You are fresh out of surgery. Yes, you are correct, your nerves need time to heal. Meanwhile, you need to measure your meals according to your Bariatric binder or your nutritionist's advice. That will teach you self discipline and prevent you from eating more than your new pouch can tolerate.
I highly recommend logging your daily food intake. It's an amazing tool to control your calorie count and exercise. It will keep you grounded and accountable.

I've been logging my food for over two months. In the beginnings of my journey I found food logging boring but because I was so blind and lazy to see what a valuable tool it is.
I have been successful and accountable since I started logging my food. I have no intention to ever giving up on it.
You can do it! Give yourself some credit.

Next to the surgery itself, food logs are the single most powerful tool you can have. I've been logging for two years and have no intention of giving it up - ever.

Unless it came in regards to my wife, hormones were the farthest thing from my mind. I'm only what, four days out and I spent all day crying like my 4 or 6 yr old daughters. I'm 38 and don't cry ever in front of my girls. My girls came home today from in-laws and my daughter gets me crying b/c she drew a book for me.
After telling my wife today that this was the biggest mistake of my life, and crying on HER shoulder for once, she mentioned that the things I'm saying were the things she said during post-pardum (sp?) she had after our first.
Prolly TMI for guys but I know I'm not the only guy that has the WTF moment during the first week.

Forget about what you can or can't do and focus all of your energy on following the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can. Trust the process and the weight will take care of itself.
