How long before...
ArmyOfMe replied to elli'smommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 weeks post-op and still cannot trust myself to leave the house for too long. Last time, I left for errands, I could barely make it thru the store from exhaustion and dehydration, add the 1000F freaking heat to the mix. Luckily, my MIL was with me the whole time. If you do decide to go, take with you plenty of liquids and maybe one of those camping foldable chairs. -
I don't regret the surgery but I am angry, right now. Angry with this damn stricture until it gets fixed. I admit, I do miss normal food but I never want to go back to who I was pre-op. Ride the storm until blue skies.

Oh man, I think I made a mistake!
ArmyOfMe replied to PittGuy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Jaqcueline. They won't torture you with the catheter until you are knocked out like a light. If you are worried, remind them for your peace of mind. Remember, you can always say 'no' if something feels uncomfortable. -
Ain't that just peachy? I am so effing angry with them, as well.

As long as you follow your surgeon's and his team's advice, you should be fine. Focus on the positive rather then the negatives from everybody else. We all go thru different experiences based on the choices we make.

I was never given a weight loss goal, either. Would have not cared if he gave me one, anyways. I believe, my own body sets its own goal and once achieved, it will stop on its own, unless I mess up. Since, I am 5.5, I will be happy with 120lbs if I make it that far.

I have the same problem. It's aggravating the heck out of me. My surgeon wants to wait 6 weeks before he will go down to fix anything. Too bad I don't have that kind of time. Good luck. Hopefully, you get it taken care of asap.

You might still have to go the your OB/GYN for an antibiotic prescription. These over the counter meds/creams only give you temporary relief.

Did some research for ya. Here is what I found:

chicken stuffed with spinach and mushroons
ArmyOfMe replied to deaddemmama's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Yum! I saved this recipe for future cooking adventures. -
I too hope to have your problem, to be honest. If you are very worried, might worth contacting your nutritionist, or even your surgeon.

Should I take my scales?
ArmyOfMe replied to sunshine413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself every day, as well. Not to torture myself but as a "meh ... why not" thing. If you are the type that all can think of "Why didn't I take that damn scale with me?" , then I say take it. Why interrupt your routine, kwim? -
9.5 months post op progress pics!
ArmyOfMe replied to Jess's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! You look amazing!!!! -
This! Most definitely from day 1 of pre-op diet to present. I worked hard to shed all that extra bacon. Better believe it, I will count it as progress.

My surgery 7:30 a.m. Today
ArmyOfMe replied to mcdoja's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! Congrats on starting fresh. Speedy recovery! -
I pray you and your husband get your little miracle soon. Before GBS, I underwent fertility treatments and my little angel is an IUI baby. I am hoping in a year and a half, I will have already improved my fertility chances and it's going to hapen naturally, as it should. If not, thank God for fertility treatments and IUI. To answer your question, there are many ladies who got pregnant after WLS. Chances increase considerably. Don't lose hope.

In my case, I took sublingual Gas-X like candy. It helped a lot but not without a lot of discomfort.

Cheated on pre op diet
ArmyOfMe replied to denise0805's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cheated on my pre-op diet, as well. I felt like poop on grass but I picked myself back up and did not do it again. I did no harm to my body either as my surgeon was very happy with my pre-op weight loss and size of my liver. Still, I do not encourage you to cheat. -
I am bumping this. I would love an update on you, Imani. Please, keep this thread alive and talk to us even if it's small chit-chat. Tell us how you are doing. How was your day today? ETA: I just noticed your update. Many prayers your way. Get well and keep us updated.

I did not go thru any revisions but RNY was the best decision I could have made for my well being and my family's. Personally, I have no regrets and I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to.

Surgery was a success today
ArmyOfMe replied to Miche11e's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great! Wish you a speedy uneventful recovery. -
There is a seed of truth in it. I was diagnosed with GERD years ago and had a lot of trouble with it throughout the years without my Nexium. Now that I am post-RNY, I can tell ya, I haven't felt a shred of acid reflux (knock on wood). I am still required to take Omeprazole or Nexium daily for the next 2-3 months but that is for to prevent ulcers.

I pray you are not planning on doing what you just intend to do. Take a step back and think about it. Life is precious and God gave you life for reason. You have no right to kill the vessel your soul rests in every day. It is the biggest sin you can commit. I know it sounds harsh but there are ways to battle depression and loneliness. You just have to look for the resources. I don't think there is one human being on this Earth that hasn't been in a dark place at some point in their life. There is hope. Don't give up on yourself so easily and look for it! I will say a prayer for you. :hugs

Best tasting chew-able vitamin
ArmyOfMe replied to lovingme4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the Celebrate Multivitamin (with Iron) chewable. Comes in different flavors and it does not leave a nasty aftertaste. http://www.amazon.co...le multivitamin -
Post-OP Sleeping
ArmyOfMe replied to momoneworleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am two weeks and some change post surgery and I still experience some discomfort when I sleep on my side (I'm a left side sleeper ever since pregnancy). Luckily, I sleep well on my back but I definitely need an extra soft pillow for my side/belly to rest on when I switch sleeping positions. Found out the pregnancy/maternity pillow is really a God's sent for extra comfort.
