    Plz help!

If resting doesn't help, walk, walk, walk. It'll move it down. Have you tried Papaya Enzyme? You can get it anywhere but it takes 20-30 minutes to help. Good luck.

BethAnn-IMO you should get it taken out on your scheduled day. You certainly don't want to wait until it starts hurting again. You've already been through enough without more pain. Good luck!

    PRE SURGERY DIET?

Hang in there! After the first few days, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I had to start on protein shakes and all liquid for 2 weeks before surgery. They want your liver to shrink before the surgery so its not in the way. I lost 22 lbs on liquid diet before surgery! Good luck to you.

I guess you can figure out my name is Mary! I grew up in a small town in Illinois and move to Southern California when I was 23. I'm 54 now. (How the hell did that happen?). I work for a large health insurance plan in Los Angeles and enjoy helping others. Anyway, I am gay an have been with my partner for 24 years and we adopted 2 kids 10 years ago. The kids are siblings and since I had a hysterectomy at 25 (severe endometriosis) and my partner had fertility issues we felt this was the best way to make our family. Anyway, after the hysterectomy, the weight came on gradually, year after year. Our son is 18 and just graduated from high school last week and our daughter is 17 and will be a senior this fall. Our kids are one of the best decisions we've ever made! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and had 2 surgeries, 8 chemotherapy infusions and 37 radiation treatments. During all if this fun I also developed a large blood clot in my brain that could not be dissolved by drugs and it is not in a place that they can safely remove it so i am stuck with it! That whole year is a bit of a blur but I have been cancer-free for almost 7 years and am thankful for every day. This surgery is helping me be healthier and lower the risk of a recurrence of the cancer. I had to have an IVC filter surgically placed below my heart before the RNY surgery to catch any clots that may have developed. It's all part of the process and just needed to be done. I too read all of the posts but do not respond to many but I really appreciate everyone's honesty and ability to share. I have had great support at home and I really am thankful for the group of April friends.
  8. Congrats! Another step towards a healthier life.

    IVC Filter

Yo- I had the IVC filter placed 1 week before surgery and it was the easiest procedure I've ever had. They knock you out and ace the filter through a small incision in your groin. No fuss, no pain. I got mine because I developed a blood clot in my brain in 2006 during chemo for breast cancer. I did the blood thinners for a long time and when it didn't dissolve, thy jus out me on aspirin. I would definitely recommend this procedure to take away any chance of any embolism issues. Good luck!

    May surgeries!

Hang in there May ladies (and gents)! My surgery was 4/9 and it wasn't a picnic. We are freaking our bodies out an they react in different ways. I have my energy back and start 'regular' food today. Even though i've been grumpy at times,, teary, frustrated and just plain tired, I would NOT change my mind about having this surgery. I am down 43 lbs and loving it! Hang in there and keep your eyes on your long range goals of a healthier life.

    Friday Weigh-In!

Weighed in yesterday at doctors office. I don't own a scale but I was pretty close in my guess. My clothes are sooo baggy and my daughter is calling me 'Hagus Bagus'! LOL! CW: 346 SW: 365 HW: 387 SD: 4/9/13 Lost 41 pounds!
  15. Thx-I have Blue Shield PPO and had to do the 6 month thing too. With all of your additional issues, you shouldn't have a problem with approval. Your doc's office should be very 'schooled' in what each insurance company needs for approval. You can call BS and get info on BMI minimums and other 'requirements' to give yourself piece of mind. What part of CA do you call home? I am in Southern Cal. Good luck and let me know if you have questions. Surgery 4/9/13: HW 389 SW 367 CW 355 Goal 160 5'9".
