  1. you look great! how do you feel? IM having surgery on September 23rd

Feeling great! I had complications after surgery, but after all that was done with everything has been going well. Tons of energy! Still losing about 10lbs a month...I am super happy with that! I just need my mind to catch up to my body! Lol! Best of luck on your surgery!

  2. I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a tough time with my surgery as well. I had surgery 3/14 and within a week I was back in the hospital. They found a leak where the old and new stomach met. Needless to say I was on tpn for 14 days, in the hospital for 16. Its very lonely in the hospital, especially when you have no roommate and people just didnt have time to really visit. I am now almost 5 months out. It was a hard few months after getting discharged. Around the 3 month mark I started feeling 100% better. The weight loss was slow due to the extra long stay, but I am on track and the surgeon is happy. Oh and as hard as it was with be complications and all after seeing what it has done for me I would absolutely go through it all again.

hang in there I know it's tough. Hope they get you out of there soon! :)

  3. Over the phone assesment with a place called melrose institute diagnosed me with an eating disorder...appointment is on Thursday

My main reason for seeing a psychiatrist is the way I think about food and my body after surgery. I'm proud you took that step to call, it's the hardest one. If you ever want to chat I'm at Kraney@aol.com

  4. I'm glad that you were able to get the help and for admitting you were having a problem ...while I'm not chewing and spitting things out' date=' I'm afraid of food.... I eat the same things everyday and only enough to get my Protein of 60 grams in

unjury unflavored Protein in my oj

    Quest Protein Bar

    salad

And for snack - banana apple sauce and peanuts

I have tried real foods but I never get past the first bite and its just not that appealing ...

chicken doesn't feel right going down and I hate seafood ;(. My friend thinks I may be starting to have an eating disorder cause it may be more in my head than actually not being able to eat it[/quote']

I eat a lot of the same thing over and over again too. chicken took me a good 3 months before I could stomach it, as well as eggs took 4 1/2 months. I can only eat what I feel like as many foods do not have the same appeal they once did. I don't know how far out you are but I am 4 1/2 months and eat between 600-800 calories with an average of 70-90 grams of protein. I still do two shakes a day. Nutritionist and surgeon are both ok with my intakes.

  5. The best suggestion I can give is to just stick with your commitments to lose the weight. If you happen to fall off the wagon with a not so good food choice, correct it at your next meal or snack. Its tough when your body is detoxing off sugar, caffeine, soda, etc. it takes a few days just to get all of that out of your system. What worked for me was a high Protein low carb diet. I had a shake for Breakfast, string cheese for snack, either a shake or lean cuisine for lunch, and chicken with Beans or broccoli for dinner. It's very important to get your Water in as well. You can always use My Fitness Pal which is an iPhone and android app to log your food. That way you see how many grams of Protein and carbs and calories you are getting. I know you can do it! :)

  6. Does anyone have pcos? Did your periods ever stop on you and did you get them back after WLS? How soon after WLS did they come back? Did ur pcos improve?

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I have PCOS and actually just started my first period since getting out of the hospital. With the exception of the one I had in the hospital during surgery and for my entire 16 day stay! This one has been horrible! Cramping, clotting, you name it. From reading on other posts some people do get regular with the weight loss, while others still have issues. I've had pcos since around 15 and even at my low weights till had issues. I cross my fingers it gets cured along with my infertility! I'm gonna give my body a year to get itself back to normal. Best of luck to you. :)

  7. We've all been there. It certainly does get depressing at points. For myself I was still on liquids at two weeks out and ended up back in the hospital for another 16 days after that. So I was on liquids for about two months. And for 14 of the 16 days back in the hospital I only had food and most liquids through my iv. It was also hard for me to move onto the other stages of puréed and then soft foods. I finally got back to real food at about 3 months out.

As far as other people eating in front of me..I just couldn't handle it! If hey wanted fast food they couldn't have it around me. Obviously I was very selfish with that, but ultimately it saved some of my sanity.

Feeling bigger after surgery is normally due to all the iv fluids they push in you at the hospital. I felt like I was gonna pop the first and second time I came home. :)

Hang in there the journey gets much better. I'm 4 1/2 months out and would do it all over again even with the complications.

  8. So I just put on a pair of my capri's. Usually after I wash and dry them I have to struggle to get the on until they stretch out. Today they just slid right on. No effort at all. I didn't have to fight. I weighed myself today on my home scale and I am down 31 pounds. It fluctuates about 5 pounds through out the day. And as long as I'm under 460 I'm happy. That's 24 pounds down. Now I'm going to fight to get these last few pounds off so I can get my second appointment!! My appointment weight is 450. Thanks for listening. I really don't have anyone around me that cares to hear my looser stories.

Every pound counts! I love to see all the "loser" stories! Every time I lose a pound I want to scream and shout! I am 4 1/2 months out and down 70lbs. Never ever did I think that would happen! Keep fighting those pounds! Hope you are able to get your second appointment soon! :)
